CMLL on CadenaTres: 2013-02-23

recap

taped 2013-02-19 @ Arena Mexico

Oro back mounted submission

Oro Jr. & Robin vs Akuma & Espanto Jr.: Everything I write about every CMLL C3 opener. Three guys look like they belong here, and one Oro who just is killing some time until he’s acquired enough tenure to wrestle with guys who are more on his level. Third fall was dramatically short, like they got told to end the fall ASAP and did so. Akuma might have gotten the height, but Demus seems to have gotten all the charisma in the family.

long distance monkey flip

Metálico, Sensei, Soberano Jr. vs Bobby Zavala, Disturbio, Hijo del Signo: finish came off as completely random (and without much of a reaction from the people.) I have no idea where they are going with Metálico but he seems more motivated here. Sensei seems to be doing more martial arts spots (or at least lucha martial arts spots), which is nice to see. Soberano comes off as sympathetic, maybe because he’s the only flyweight in the non-mini division, maybe because Zavala did a good job of making him look good.

poor Negro Casas

Fuego, Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado vs Puma, Sangre Azteca, Virus: Filler match. Professionally done but not with any particular intensity or anything that’ll make this stick out compared to the other dozen times they do this match this month. There wasn’t even a neat Virus thing to point out!

Ángel de Oro, Atlantis, Máximo vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Mephisto, Pólvora: another match that was just there and unremarkably so for most of the way, though it did pick up slightly by the end of the third fall. This can be the longest show to get thru when it’s all okay matches; it’s just very numbing and tiring after 90 minutes. Pólvora and Dragon Rojo would be in rough shape if there wasn’t a Rey Escorpion.

Blue Panther, Diamante Azul, Super Porky vs Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Escorpión: mailed in main event. There was enough good Blue Panther/Negro Casas interactions to tell to they could’ve have an interesting match, but that was not this match. On the short side for a main event, but I was not asking for more time when it was over.
