Sombra beats Volador again, Soberano Jr. wins Sangre Nueva, Villano IV to Rey de Reyes

CMLL (MON) 03/11/2013 Arena Puebla [El Popular (cover), El Sol de Puebla, Porra Fresa]
1) Ares, Fuerza Chicana, King Jaguar b Asturiano, Black Tiger, Dinámikoo
Rudos took 2/3. The tecnicos took the first, where Dinamikoo was too late to get his finish and so the ref wouldn’t count it. Same thing happened in the second, but it was Jaguar giving Dinamikoo a valagueza and not getting the count. Ares has new gear.
2) Metatrón, Pegasso, Sensei b Canelo Casas, Guerrero Negro Jr., Nosferatu
Canelo Casas’ debut. He looked nervous and green. Tecnicos took 1/3.
3) Misterioso Jr., Namajague, Shigeo Okumura b Blue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado
Panther caught Namajague with the surprise armbar in the first. Rudos rallied to win 2/3, Okumura sneaking a foul on Panther
4) Máximo, Rush, Thunder DQ Euforia, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero
Maximo appeared to be knocked out by Niebla Roja’s flip corner double heel kick in the first fall. He was down for a while, recovered, but was ruled unable to continue and strechered out. Rudos took that fall, Rush & Terrible took fall 2, Euforia appeared to foul Rush in the third but no DQ was called, Niebla Roja shoved Tirantes to get the DQ. Tecnicos sort of won 2 vs 3.
5) La Sombra b Volador Jr. (posted by Joaco Loaiza)
Sombra was ready to attack Volador as soon as he came thru the entrance, so Volador came around the side of the stage and attacked Sombra from behind. Volador dominated fall 1 and won with a Volador Spiral. Sombra won fall 2 with a bridging suplex. Long third fall with all the big moves kicked out and Volador pouring a beer on Sombra. Referee was distracted, Volador threw his mask at Sombra to draw the DQ, Sombra just rolled him up for the win and Volador was undone by his own trick. Crowd was thrilled with the Sombra win.

Poor Volador never ever wins. Totally his fault this time. Recordings Puebla is hit and a lot of miss, but the main event sounds a lot like the Reyes del Air.

1) Akuma & Inquisidor b Metatrón & Robin
2) Fantasy, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito DQ Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
Tecnicos took 1/3. Violencia fouled Shockercito for a DQ.
3) Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus b Fuego, Pegasso, Starman
Rudos took 1/3.
4) Soberano Jr. b Taurus [Sangre Nueva, final]
Soberano won the first fall after two dives. He went for too much flying in the second fall and was caught by Taurus with his big slam to take the second. Soberano did a stage moonsault in the third, and won the fall to take the tournament.
5) Morphosis, Mr. Águila, Psicosis b Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Valiente
Rudos took 2/3.
6) Marco Corleone, Rush, Shocker b Euforia, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero
Tecnicos won cleanly (as cleanly as you get with Rush’s piledriver.)

A show! Not a lot of details on quality, but it sure looks like they tried a lot. Soberano and Taurus celebrate their win by not being booked anywhere.

They really mixed it up on this show!

AAA announced Villano IV is one of the mystery wrestlers for Sunday’s Rey de Reyes. He’s in Group 3, with LA Park, Jack Evans, Psicosis, Drago, and Chessman. It’s his first match in the promotion since late 1996; he and his brothers were around for a couple years between UWA and Promo Azteca stints. Villano IV is on the Ray Mendoza show the night before in the tag team apuesta tournament. The announced teams seem like it has to be either him & Villano V losing their mask and hair, or Hijo del Pirata Morgan & Cassandro doing the same, and it’d be awful strange for Villano IV to return to AAA fresh off losing his mask.

That leaves one more mystery spot for the Rey de Reyes tournament, in Group 1. AAA says they may announce the name ahead of time. The unconfirmed report I’ve heard is that guy is older than Villano IV, but a bigger name.

Namajague and Okumura and Namajague’s tropical shirt visited the Teotihuacan pyramids this week. Okumura said people believe the Mexicans will win, but they’re a dying empire and left with only ruins, while the Japanese empire is old but thriving, thanks to the same knowledge and intelligence they’ll use to win. (They’re going to use mist.) Namajague showed off a NJPW shirt; I wonder how this interview will read when it turns up on NJPW’s site.

Poster for the show Princesa Blanca, Dalys and Negro Casas are working this weekend in Panama. Blanca/Dalys was originally said to be a title match, looks now to be a non-title match in Dalys’ return to her home country.

The lucha libre commissioner in Tampico is threatening to cause problems for Friday’s AAA show there. The local promoter did not clear the event with the commission, did not pay local the commission fee at last months show, and is using unlicensed luchadors.

The Gladiatores has an interview with the traitorous Mr. Leo, Dragon Celestial and Galaxy.

Guerrero Negro Jr. and Tun Tun are in Arena Coliseo Monterrey on Sunday.

AAA put up a lineup for May yesterday. May! I’m not ready for May.
