AAA on Televisa (Regional): 2013-02-10

recap

taped 2013-01-18 @ Gimnasio Agustín Millán, Toluca

one foot dropkick barrage

Argenis, Freelance, Pasion Kristal vs Billy el Malo, Black Mamba, Yuriko: just like I have no idea why the Starman vs Tuareg matches take up CMLL’s precious Televisa time, I have no idea why this match took up close to half of AAA’s running time. It’s a question of relevancy, not competency  They did at least sort of go somewhere with Argenis on the next show, but nothing that required this and everyone else is just around doing nothing. Mamba did not look good in his debut; at least part of that appeared to be nerves, but he wasn’t on the level of the other two exoticos, neither of which looked especially good. The bits with Freelance and Billy Boy (and Argenis, to a lesser extent) were all good, this was just a curious decision to air.

Taya makes a series of dumb decisions, is walked thru a board

Atomic Boy, Fabi Apache, Lolita vs Gran Apache, Jennifer Blake, Mari Apache: They more or less repeated the Gran Apache/Atomic Boy angle on the next taping, so someone must’ve decided this wasn’t going to air a while ago. It seems like an okay call; I would’ve figured this match would be much better than it turned out to be. Lolita had a rough night even before her dive, and the match seemed way to be in rudo beatdown way too long. There’s a bigger problem of how Atomic Boy is being used here; his role needs to be someone who can brawl with Apache as well as fly, and right now he’s just showing he can fly. Maybe he’ll get there, but this match didn’t make you think much Atomic Boy, except for his willingness to take a lot of punishment.

Cibernético & La Parka vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Parka Negra [no disqualification]: Not really much of a match, just the normal Perros brawl and prop violence. The whole last few minutes, with Cibernético being out of place and Taya looking uncertain about the whole thing, felt like something didn’t go the way it was planned or it just didn’t work the way they had laid out. Rudos got a strong way anyway.
