Zeuxis nearly ends Afrodita

Dark Angel, Lady Afrodita, Marcela vs La Comandante, Tiffany, Zeuxis: Would’ve been a good match without Lady Afrodita, and Zeuxis really tried to make that possible with the first fall finish. That looked brutal. I don’t give Afrodita credit for much, but I do for continuing. The Zeuxis/Dark Angel stuff was fun and it’d be nice to get more of it. Tiffany’s working hard at trying to keep the Marcela feud going.

Escorpion’s rearranged

Atlantis, La Máscara, Diamante, Sagrado, Blue Panther, Máximo, Stuka Jr., Delta, Rey Escorpión & Volador Jr., Euforia, Morphosis, Mr. Águila, Mephisto, Psicosis, Felino for the CMLL World Light Heavyweight semifinal match: Not a great cibernetico. Action wasn’t that great (and some guys had not great days – Delta!), the rules were ignored when they felt like being ignored (they didn’t even try to explain why La Mascara and Volador were fighting at the end, they just wanted to do spots together and couldn’t bother to put them on opposite teams) and the refereeing was bad. Bestia Negra screwed up Sagrado’s elimination, which quite possibly could’ve explained some of the other early weirdness – Sagrado might have not meant to be gone that early, which means other people (Morphosis?) had to beat people he was supposed to have beat – and was really unhelpful on the finish. The three way stuff didn’t work for me at all, because there was just a token attempt to explain it, and it makes less sense with these (dumb) rules. If there are three people left, and the final two go to the next round, the smart person wants to stay out of the match. Let the other two guys settle it, and you’re advancing no matter the results. Euforia and Rey Escorpion have an ongoing feud which makes some sense for wanting to beat the other, but Volador was there just because they wanted to do three way spots which didn’t come across well. I like ciberneticos more than most and I didn’t think much of this one.

Niebla Roja lands painfully.

La Sombra, Shocker, Super Porky vs Mr. Niebla, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero: Start of the Mr. Niebla/Sombra feud. It did a good job of establishing there was meant to be a feud, but that meant Sombra spent most of his time getting beat up and never getting that close to a win. This was not really much outside that.

no one home!

Terrible vs Rush for the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship: a knock out, drag out fight. I want about eight more of these. This was worked completely different than an average CMLL match, more a brawl for survival and less a competition of wrestling moves. They barely did any big maneuvers, and not really until the closing moments – this was about thrashing each other with hands and feet. This match does not work for most guys here, but it definitely works for these two.
