Arena Mexico’s Guapos break up continued with a Mascara Magica/Terrible match last Friday. Magica won – if I’m reading right, it was a first fall DQ by Terrible and Magica taking the second for a clean sweep – but post match hair/hair challenges were made by both men. Ever since Terrible broke with the group, I (and others) have suspected they’ll have him beat Magica for his hair to set up Shocker winning a bigger hair match, and they seem to be going into that direction. Box y Lucha’s recap says the fans weren’t in to the match.
In the undercard, after some miscommuncation in their trios match, Super Crazy and Zumbido turned on each other, Zumbido joining with the tecnicos and even getting a hug from Safari, if the recap is to be believed. While I dig Zumbido, I think he’s a guy who’s better of being a rudo, and actually Super Crazy’s an okay tecnico. Hope if works out the other way. It’s already off the Ovaciones website, but Monday’s edition had an article about the Volador/Mephisto CMLL Welterweight Title match – which Robert was right about it and it was at Arena Coliseo. Seems during the third fall of the match, Volador was going for a dive (must’ve been the Asai Moonsault), the rope broke, and Volador went crashing to the floor. He knocked himself out and got counted out to end the title match, but the reports were that he was otherwise fine. If Volador is okay, he’s pretty lucky, considering what blowing that move has done to others.
In that eight tag team tournament, the winners were Atlantis/Blue Panther, beating Shocker/Olimpico when the latter team remembered they were a tecnico and rudo teaming and acted apporpiately.

Arena Coliseo’s Tuesday taping has a main event of Blue Panther, Black Warrior and El Hijo de Lizmark vs Tarzan Boy, Ultimo Guerrero, and Pierroth. So so close. The Guapos match is Alan Stone, Lestat and Leono vs Karisma, Brazo de Plata Jr. and Espiritu.
Sunday’s Coliseo main event is Tinieblas Jr., Black Warrior, Blue Panther vs Rey Bucanero, Cien Caras, Universo 2000. Puebla’s and Guadaljara’s lineups on CMLL.com remain unupdated.
They’re advertising the fact that, basically, if you’re attending a show under the CMLL banner this week, you’re probably going to see Mr. LA Park – he worked Monday in Puebla, tonight in Pachuca, tommorow in Acapulco, Friday’s Arena Mexico and Sunday in Guadalajara. All these guys work lots of shows, but it seems like Park’s working more high profile ones than most this week.
On 4/28 in Puebla, Shocker (w/mini) and Super Porky will take on Ultimo Guerrero and Rey Bucanero in the match I have a strong desire to see.

The thing is, you’d have to be insane to put X-Pac over one half of your Junior Tag Team Champions (and all around awesome dude), but this is a promotion that is not afraid to be insane. Also, I can’t just give away Havana Pitbull vs Havana Pitbull like that. Quance gets the Easter Egg push.
Rocky goes to Japan to get a goose egg but hopefully impress someone along the way, while Dragon probably is in the upper middle of the pack with a chance to go the finals until the second to last day.

Hey! Are these NJPW-LA shows available on tape anywhere? Also, did you ever watch the OMLL tape? Apparently OMLL guy Principe Franky, who also wrestles in Monterrey, lives in Aurora. Some OMLL guys are going to be on the first new LWF card on May 1, and I guess there’s a new promotion based around OMLL and IWC guys that’s going to be starting up soon.

Sucks that I was right about Volador Jr./Mephisto b/c it would have made for good Guadalajara TV.
That Quance photo is GOLD. I’ll go with your predictions for the tourney but I am so very afraid of an X-Pac push. Why would he agree to work this show out of nowhere unless he knows he is going over? It’s very smelly.

After the next CMLL episode (which may be done in an hour if I stop looking for MP3s to burn), I’m totally putting off the rest of the lucha to watch that lucha. I expect, Friday? If I don’t talk myself into going into going to see A league baseball in the freezing cold. Maybe tommorow if I’m not in another state really late; it’s just a case of me wanting to do a good job with OMLL and not having time to do a good job with it.
I don’t believe the NJPW-LA stuff has made tape, which is a shame. But since most of their workers work PWG, I guess their tapes would be a good subsitutite.
I’m just hoping X-Pac is a friend of a company, since he did work NJPW before, and he’s doing them a favor (at least in his head) by putting over Dragon. Please please let this be true.
