Tecnicos won the main event in straight falls and want a shot at the Mexican Trios titles. Espiritu Maligno was hurt on a dive by the Tiger, which ended the match. Tiger kept attacking him as he was being carted off, which restarted a brawl with the rudos.

Madrea @ El Martiente has pictures of the AAA Merida taping on Sunday, though they’re still not up yet and not as much on results. He notes the building was full, but a lot seemed to be there only for Latin Lover. (So, that’s 8 comments at least.) Juvi didn’t wrestle, due to some sort of arm injury and Cuije was using a walker – maybe these things will make sense after hearing about the previous taping.

La Presna talks about Ayako Hamada debuting in AAA over the weekend, as well as “Angela from TNA”. (???) Gran Hamada is also starting with the promotion, and the article teases a Mixed Title title challenge.

Some fans were critical of Los Cinco Magnificos because Perro’s opposition seemed more talented, but lost on votes. Perro Aguayo Jr. defended his win, saying his team was the best.

Box Y Lucha #2822 has Mistico winning the LdP. Nice action photo too.

El Halcon #92 is up, with interviews with Maximo, Lady Apache and Tzuki.

The San Diego county fair will have (unspecified) lucha libre on Saturday and Sunday. According to the website, there’s two shows on each day, free with admission to the fair.

This article about marketing towards Hispanics includes a photo of Blue Demon Jr. throwing out the first pitch at a Dodgers game. Weird. (thanks to mikeinformer.)

18 thoughts to “06/12: Puebla, Hamadas, Lineups”

  1. TOshikai Ishii is a AJPW student and since the name is very similar and AJPW has been sending thier dojo boys to IWRG it would make sense.

  2. AAA 6/10 – Poliforum Zamna de Merida (TV taping)
    1. Angel Infernal/Halcon Rojo/Halcon Rojo Jr./Lobo Salvaje beat Amenaza Roja/Angelito Vengador/Coloso/Cobraman
    2. Canadian Angel & Ayako Hamada defeated Cinthia Moreno & Estrellita by DQ when Fabi Apache interfered.
    3. Laredo Kid & Sexy Star beat Gran y Fabi Apache after interference from Nemesis/Super Calo/Ayako Hamada.
    4. Cuervo (subbing for Super Calo)/Escoria/Espiritu/Psicosis defeated Mexican Power (Crazy Boy/Extreme Tiger/Joe Lider/Juventud Guerrera) when Psicosis broke a light tube over Lider’s crotch.
    5. Alebrije/Latin Lover/Oriental/Zorro beat Alan Stone/Scorpio Jr./Super Calo (subbing for Abismo Negro)/Zumbido
    6. El Mesias/Ozz/Kenzo Suzuki beat Chessman/Cibernetico/La Parka Jr. with help from La Secta. Ciber challenged Mesias to a hair match for Triplemania.

  3. I’m guessing Canadian angel is either Traci Brooks or Tiana Ringer. I’m going with the latter.

Seriously, what’s the deal with Abismo? Somebody’s got to have some ideas. Did he get blown up in a limo like Vince?

  4. I’m pretty positive it’s Tiana. Abismo is a big mystery right now on why he still gets announced for cards but never works.

  5. I guesse this shoots down luchalibreenvivo’s theory about how Latin Lover can’t draw.

I love it when I’m right.

  6. Are you crazy? Everyone showed up to see the grudge match of the century – Extreme Tiger vs Joe Lider!

  7. Well I bet the mexican people love the Jackass stuff so liking the Mexican powers doesn’t shock me.

  8. Rob, I love you (in a non-sexual way).

Yeah look at all those Mexican Power T-Shirts and masks. (sarcasm) HA HA HA

  9. Well, you won’t love me THAT much b/c I’m friends with luchalibreenvivo and I think he always has valid points. I just don’t get the Latin Lover hatred, nor the claim that the Mexican Powers are better than him in ANY category, whether it be work, drawing power, charisma, etc. There is some deep vendetta against Latin Lover here, just not sure what it stems from.

  10. A full house is to be expected. It’s tv in a well-known venue. I said a few weeks ago, “tv taping” is a draw. It does not always work, like in Apizaco, which seemed like a dead crowd, and a little more than 1/2 a house. But for the most part, tv tapings draw big for AAA.

  11. RE: luchalibreenvivo! OK the point here is that a guy who was at the event confirmed that most people were there for Latin Lover. I’m sure we’ll hear the ovation when that episode airs.

  12. That’s a great shot of the crowd, but not a great shot of any t-shirts. One must observe crowd shots on tv to appreciate the acceptance of Mexican Powers. Their shirts sell, and the tv proves it.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Mexican Powers is a great name for a group, and if they had better workers, it could be huge.

My hatred of Lover comes from the fact that he was gone for so long, and now that he is back, it puts Intocable and Elegido on the back burner. I really wish Lover had gone to CMLL and stayed for some time, so he would have been exposed like Electro Shock and Gronda. He’s not a draw, never really was, and never will be. For the life of me, I can’t think of a gate he has ever drawn.

  13. There was a non tv taping in Merida a few months back with Latin Lover drawing even more that this one of AAA, if that is possible… I tried to post the images but the posts don’t get by, I also put a link to the thread about Aguayo and Mistico in the same venue, drawing much less than that Latin Lover card… not to mention that lately, the place was dead, I remember once they even offered to give back the money to the few hundred guys attending…

BTW, Crazzy Boy hires some hot chicks to sell his shirts, so it is more of an excuse for guys to try to pick the up rather than the shirts having any value to fans.

  14. I’ll go on record and say that Elegido is worse than Crazy Boy. I still don’t know how Konnan still books him. He’s a less talented version of Latin Lover with a mask.

  15. Elegido is just so over. Kids seem to like him too, as I’ve noticed some Elegido masks on the young during.

  16. RE: luchalibreenvivo Buddy giver it up, Latin Lover is a draw and it’s been proven to you right here.

There’s a reason why he was gone for so long. He was injured.

So Elegido has been put on the back burner. Well too bad for him. If he had come up with an original gimmick rather than trying to be Latin lover with a mask he wouldn’t be in this predicament.

And if Intocable didn’t decide to go raunchy with his act he wouldn’t have this problem either.
