AAA #625

taped 04/20/07, aired 05/19/07

I’d like to just forget this taping and give them the benefit of the doubt because of the rain. The rain did lead to a great Joe Lider hilarious blown spot/near death experience, so I can’t be angry at the rain. This show just didn’t have much for me.

To recap
2nd match: Runs in mean a DQ (because that’s the plot point)
3rd match: Runs in mean no DQ (because that’s the plot point)

Had to be the same guy booking both matches, so…I dunno. (Maybe it’s the amount of people? Maybe it’s the time they hang around? Maybe there are very specific DQ rules?) I guess they figure the people will accept it. It’s awful dumb to me.

What’s Zorro’s belt? Click the continued link for photo investigation!

Okay, this is a good shot of what Zorro was wearing.

Before looking close at it, I thought maybe he got the UWA Light Heavyweight belt back and I didn’t know, but that says Heavyweight – and maybe JR at the end? We don’t seem to have a good picture of the Junior Heavyweight belt in the luchawiki (the Negro Navarro one is actually a Trios belt, I believe.) The last result we have for this title was it being defended in Puerto Rico, six years ago. Anyone know any more?

What I looked at for the UWA LH belt was Charly’s picture, because the belt seems bigger there

Notice how the upside down horseshoe title name plate wraps far past the wings of the bird on the front.

But then this is Hator’s UWA LH belt

and that looks like Zorro’s belt. So maybe Charly’s is wrong – it’s really tough to be sure on a lot of these.

  1. I agree. Last week’s AAA was terrible. I thought CMLL on FSE was average, and Coliseo Monterrey once again had no commentary, just footage.

My complaint about CMLL is the at home segments with the talent. They spent alot of time with Black Warrior and his wife and kids and I thought he was turning face based on those vignettes. Seriously. It just looks bad when one of the top heels has a kid who does DX crotch chops on TV. Last weeks stuff with Negro Casas and his kids was not much better. These segments humanize the guys too much, and expose the humble lifestyles that they live. But as long as Misterioso keeps getting all this air time, I’m still happy.
