CMLL title match, Decnnis, Traumas

oday’s big Arena Mexico match are the Reyes del Atlantida of Atlantis, Delta & Guerrero May Jr. challenging Deperadors del Aire of Volador Jr., Black Warrior and Mr. Aguila for the later’s Mexican National Trios Championship. CMLL typically does not have the last champions win trios belts back from the team which dethroned them. It’s happened a couple times with World trios titles, but never with the national belts when they’ve been with CMLL. We’d expect that to continue here under normal circumstances, but there’s some questions here. Mr. Aguila has worked an indy show with his old indy friends (and AAA wrestlers), did not show up for his match ready to go last week, and isn’t announced on any shows past today (though it’s CMLL so we don’t know that far into the future.) Black Warrior also hasn’t been a regular presence on shows, working an average of once a week this past month after lesser appearances over the summer. The title match here is as much about the teams as the belts; if the champions hold on to them, it may be a long time before we see the championship defended again.

One departure that appears to be certain is Decnnis leaving AAA. Last week’s Luchas 2000 (#643) has Decnnis explaining he’s working his remaining AAA dates but is already looking for bookings from independent promoters. He says he was thinking of leaving wrestling, but support on social media encouraged him to continue. Decnnis was complimentary towards AAA, noted he would have been working their 14 years this December, and just is looking for a change and new opportunities. It seemed like current AAA management liked him but didn’t have a role for him.

The Traumas are listed as working the opener of the 11/03 Arena Neza AAA Fusion taping, but have posted on their Facebook that they will not be working the show. No explanation as to what happened, but the guess is they did not like the idea of working as opening match guys.

Rey Bucanero says he’s recovering from surgery. Rey Bucanero had surgery? (I hope he recovers!)

AAA posted part 1 of it’s webcast with Silver King and Chessman. Silver King definitely bringing the energy of the two. Both tease the interviewer with suggestions on how to improve the website. If you are operating a fake Chessman social media profile, he is very angry with you. Silver King explaining how he’s a member of both Consejo and Maniacos turns into Silver King trashing the Bizarros. Silver King explaining why he still wears a mask turns into a discussion of his favorite soccer team, and there’s a lot of soccer talk. The segment ends with them arguing with someone off camera, and you learn Chessman definitely knows one English word.
