Air Atomic

Atomic Boy bounces on his head

Atomic Boy, Fabi Apache, Lolita vs Gran Apache, Jennifer Blake, Mari Apache: fun match! The in-ring stuff was all good, and the part where Gran Apache kept feeding his partners to the wolves was amusing. Finish was one of those you see all the time as comedy near finishes – more often with a tapatía than whatever this was – but never actually seems to work. Atomic Boy is just in Gran Apache’s head. Jennifer and Lolita and Atomic Boy fit in with the Apaches, which is about as high a compliment as you can give.

Freelance

Rockers test the barricade strength

Devil Rocker, Machine Rocker, Soul Rocker vs Fenix, Freelance, Samurai del Sol: awesome match. Tecnicos looked great, rudos looked great, crowd was great. Arena Naucalpan is a fun place to watch a match when the crowd is loud and the luchadors are diving into the front row. Infierno Rockers really came together as a unit quick, are totally into their wacky characters, and take all the crazy técnico offense great. Freelance looked spectacular in this cameo, and the young AAA guys were not far behind him. Samurai del Sol used to be good when he wrestling indy shows around Chicago, but now he’s so much better. I could see this match every week and be happy to see it.

anyone want a clown?
Samurai del Sol!

Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Cien Caras Jr., Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Trauma I: came off as Psycho Circus versus three random local guys. I guess that’s what it really was, just the local guys usually make more of an impression in these sorts of matches and it could’ve been any three random people. More attention was put on Mini Clown then what Cien, Mascara and Trauma. Crowd made the match interesting, it really would not have been much elsewhere.

Ozz is out of here

dives!

Daga, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Teddy Hart vs Jack Evans, Juventud Guerrera, Ozz:Crowd was into it, crazy dive sequence into the crowd was crazy, nothing wrong with this. Plus, an actual totally clean pin in a match involving Perro Aguayo Junior! Daga, who turned months ago specifically and only to set up a title match AAA doesn’t seem interested in ever actually booking, had some fun exchanges with Jack early. They’d be fun in a full match if it ever happened.

quite a kick

Dr. Wagner Jr., El Mesías, La Parka vs Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Texano Jr., Toscano: if you could put in a law restricting every AAA normal TV match from going longer than 15 minutes, you’d be making a lot more matches better at the cost of very few. This dragged so badly, feeling twice as long as it needed. This really should’ve been a bigger match for Consejo, since they’ve been talking about fighting these three people – Mascara, Parka, and Wagner – in promos for a while, including the last promo they did. Instead, they played stooges all for a 2 minute stretch in the middle. That doesn’t stick out much in a 24 minute match. They had the right finish and their Texano/Mesías parts among the best in this match, but the finish came off as more random then Texano proving anything.
