CMLL on CadenaTres: 2012-10-06

recap

taped 2012-10-02 @ Arena Mexico

Taurus introduces himself to Soberano

Molotov, Pegasso, Soberano Jr. vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Taurus: Okay match made by Raziel and Cancerbero looking their usual great stuff. Taurus looks like a lesser Semental while not even coming close to wrestling like a lesser Semental. He seems like he’s a ways away from being ready for TV, but there they are in 2012. Molotov is the most forgettable guy on the roster. Last bit with Pegasso & Raziel fell apart, but Pegasso seems to be more emotive of late.

tope almost gets there. almost.

Estrellita, Goya Kong, Marcela vs Amapola, La Comandante, Princesa Blanca: In a 10 second span before the finish, Estrellita’s name was being wildly chanted by the crowd, and she forgot how to put on her own finishing maneuver. I dunno! She also cut her hand freakishly, crashed on a dive, and got the fans to care about her title match – which they didn’t even do the next week. I dunno! This was all over the place.

maybe she needs Disco Inferno’s cheat sheet?

Blue Panther, Diamante, Hijo del Fantasma vs Mephisto, Puma King, Vangelis: the problem with CMLL booking is right here, where Mephisto can be in an outstanding match – win a great main event! – and then takes the pin in a forgettable trios match next week. There’s little consistency week to week and the value of a win is not what it should be. Match was fine, the finish was just wrong.

friendly fire

Diamante Azul, Shocker, Super Porky vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Volador Jr.: an attempt at a fine enough main event. It succeeded. Volador and Shocker feuded here, and Volador had a big singles match two weeks later; did plans just change? Volador and Shocker would’ve been an interesting if tough dynamic; personality would’ve been great, but the stuff Volador wants to do in the ring is not what Shocker is good at. Would Volador been able to succeed differently? Not going to find out. Speaking of people having trouble working together, this match had Diamante Azul having trouble with Volador’s moves while leveling people with his own. FORESHADOWING.

Funny you point this out b/c today I was actually think about this as relates to Misticlon. I can’t figure out if CMLL is having him lose more because they have lost confidence in him or whether it’s generic CMLL booking 101 as you explained.

I mean the idea of creating a new Mistico is to re-create what you had with the original but you can’t really have that if this guy is being treated no different than Angel De Oro or Sagrado, right? He’s quickly becoming just another guy which is the last thing CMLL needs.
