Other wrestlers, including Demus 3:16, Rush, Pimpinela, and Diamante Azul, were at the show. It’s notable not just because they were honoring Casandro, but it’s a ultra rare show with AAA and CMLL wrestlers together.

Namajague german suplexed Stuka and Okumura gave Fuego a brainbuster to take fall one. Fuego submitted Namajague and Stuka splashed Okumura in the second. Namajague and Fuego pinned each other in the third. Stuka missed his splash, but survived Okumura’s reverse DDT and Michinoku Driver, and then dropped Okumura in and landed the splash the second time to keep the titles.
6) Felino, Mephisto, Mr. Niebla b Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Shocker
Felino beat Atlantis in a surprise finish in the first, and Niebla & Felino beat Atlantis & Azul in the second. Rudos immediately challenged for a title match, tecnicos immediately accepted.

In Memoriam lost his mask to Esfinge in the Guadalajara cage match tonight. Rush kept his title over Rey Bucanero.

AAA has put up TripleMania XX Part 3, with Consejo & Octagon vs Psycho Circus & La Park, and Dr. Wagner vs Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.

Perros del Mal announced Taya Valkyrie will not appear on their show tonight, because she was not actually given a contract  for the show. That’s right, Perros del Mal is more concerned with false advertising than CMLL.

Rob has highlights of Puebla 01/16/12, 01/27/12 & 02/31/12 CMLL, and 08/21/21 CMLL, as well as Zumbido vs Ricky Marvin match from 2002.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and Alfredo’s Five to Watch. I agree with the list, but I’m not so sure Namajague is losing his mask before going back to Japan.

Lucha Libre in Japan

09/09 Reina X World:
Arisa Nakajima b Crazy Star
Silueta b Alex Lee

09/09 NJPW: Averno, Alex Kozlov, Rocky Romero & Low Ki [O] b Mascara Dorada, BUSHI [X], Alex Shelley & KUSHIDA
Match includes a Low Ki picture tweet. You can tell which NJPW shows are staffed by the Spanish media translator. Some have quotes, some like this have “Mascara Dorada yells angrily about Averno and Chaos”.

Rayo de Jalisco Jr. will appear on Ultimo Dragon’s 25th Anniversary show in Tokyo on 11/07.

  1. @Daniel: Hello Daniel, I think you had the order of your questions wrong… the first self question should have been this and should have been followed by some research. Then and only if you had doubts about his merits using “f” word made some sense.
As you know, the “exóticos” division is a traditional one but has not had an easy road to be taken seriously. Cassandro has not only accomplished that but is considered a flagship. He is well respected by his peers (not only “exóticos”) in México and worldwide.

  2. Exactly. Cassandro has traveled all over the world with demon jr and santo. He has been in tna and aaa. Cassandro doesnt just go in the ring to dance and do the usual exotico stuff. The dude actually wrestles and he is very good at it. He deffinetly deserves to be honored

  3. Besides that, it’s always a good thing to make such fund-raiser events, even if the injured wrestler is not that good. Cassandro is without an income since nearly one year due to his injury. Promoting such a show and paying the ticket price for such a show is absolutely respectable. Luchadors aren’t rich.

  4. At the very least this thread has established in addition to being annoying, oblivious and somewhat on the slow side our troll Daniel is also a bigot.

  5. @Rob: Sorry to burst your bubble Rob but just because I don’t enjoy watching men pretend to be women does not make me a bigot.

Also you’re not one to call me a bigot for not liking exoticos. On this site you have accused me more than once, of being gay just because I’m a Latin Lover fan, despite the fact that my comments have never suggested a sexual attraction for him nor does he play a gay character. Just so you know, calling somebody gay for the purpose of making fun is considered bigotry.

  6. @Daniel: Asking for other people to be polite to you when you’ve started this spiral to the bottom by being pointlessly obscene and rude is really asking a lot.

I’m putting you back on moderation so I don’t have to see your comments on the site, and I don’t have to see everyone’s responses to them. Should you actually have something useful to say, it will get posted on the site.

  7. Daniel:

I do like other people better than you! I do not care if you think you’ve been wronged.

I could just turn comments off on this entry. I am not going to do this. I’m going to leave it up to you. If you make any follow up on this entry, your comments will go straight to the deletion bin – and there’s no return from that. Any comment, anything at all, and I’ll know you do not want to comment any more.

  8. Cubs, on wrestlers who are from El Paso/Juarez, who do you think has made the biggest impact on the sport (Besides, ofcourse Gory and Eddy Guerrero). Do you think Hunico and Cassandro are about the same in terms of worldwide popularity? Who else is up there?

  9. @G Money: I would say Hunico, just because it’s the WWE and so a lot larger unvierse of people are have seen him, even if Casandor is a bigger deal on the shows he runs in the last decade – they’re much smaller shows.

There were people who around Juarez for longer and treated like bigger stars who would mean more in the area (the Coabrdes come to mind) or even known more in Mexico, but I can’t think of anyone with more worldwide popularity.

  10. I don’t think he means born in Juarez/El Paso because I don’t think Gori was born there.

If we’re talking guys who are considered “from Juarez”, I would think after Eddie its Fishman, the original Cobarde and maybe the other Guerreros since they technically started in Juarez (but were born in Mexico City).

Fishman had far more worldwide popularity than Hunico ever has achieved despite being in the WWE and on TV. Fishman toured Japan, was a headliner for the UWA, was in the early part of AAA (which is a period of lucha that is still pretty well remembered by current fans) was able to get someone to pay him off for a mask match in 2000 when he was already well past his prime.
