Officals are going to restrict the amount of lucha libre shows which take place in Auditorio Municipal Torreon. The ring and the chairs are damaging their wood floor, and they don’t expect the wrestling promoters will pay for it, so they’re only going to let a few top events runt there each year.

Rocky Romero may have been asked to drop the Black Tiger IV gimmick.

The Charly Manson/Box Y Lucha chat is today.

  1. Since when has XLAW been part of the NWA?

So who’s going to be Black tiger V if Romero drops the gimmick?

  2. You can pay a membership fee to get in, so I guess they did.

I presume NJPW still owns the gimmick, so they’re probably going to hold it for a guy who’d be a regular – ‘course, I’m sure they thought Romero would be a regular when they gave him the gimmick.

  3. AAA March 10th taping lineup is out and there are no tag tournament matches! It might be ending at Rey De Reyes! Intocable and Elegido should protest.

  4. I think there’s an external company that owns the Tiger Mask and Black Tiger gimmick, not NJPW or any other wrestling company…

  5. New Japan pays for the rights anyway. Since Romero is working for the enemy now, they’re probably more than entitled to take the gimmick that he’s still been using in America/Canada. Hopefully they won’t hand it over to anyone any time soon, as it never makes an impact anymore.

  6. So, I can’t be the only one thinking that the NWA XLAW show is looks pretty interesting (sans the main event, that is)? It could be called the best IWRG card of the year, if they had booked it and also if Turbo was booked (but he may be in Japan)! And who gets tapped to be Skayde Jr.? Any chance in hell we’ll see this on an IWRG TV show, fancam bootleg or maybe on Samurai TV since Ultimo is involved (perhaps as a build towards the title tourney he’s holding soon)? Here’s to hoping someone tapes it since TV is mentioned on the flyer!

PS – Speaking of could be interesting, just read Chavo Sr. is headed to Japan in April to work for MUGA as part of his retirement tour – would be cool to see him against Fujinami, Nishimura or Tenryu (in an early 80’s California re-match, if MUGA wanted to bring someone in)…

  7. On the ByL board, O’Campo said they’re working on getting it released on DVD or shown on TV somehow. Perhaps on the station that airs AULL? He also said something about a U.S. distribution deal which would be cool but that just might have to do with a certain wrestler facing Avisman who never comes through.

All XLAW events are on tape/DVD somewhere so at least we know it won’t be lost forever.
