6) Charly Manson, Chessman, Cibernetico b Black Bufalo, Head Hunter I, Nicho

You may be asking, “Who is Black Bufalo?” Well, he’s the guy in the middle in the picture, and that’s all I know. Glad I could help. (He’s working an AAA spot show w/Rossy vs Cinthia/Oriental this weekend, but I don’t have anything else by that name – new gimmick for someone?)

Main event was Legion dominated, with Ciber sneaking in a foul on Nicho and Chessman covering for the win. Semimain saw more Octagon/Fuerza stuff as they continue the tease. Juvi missed the show due to injuried suffered at the last TV taping.

The big news, of course, is the tag team tournament. Rey Cometa and Super Fly could’ve faced 13 teams they haven’t gone up against before, and they beat one of the three they had. They broke the tournament! Once I finally figured out what was going on, I shot off confetti in the CMLLBlog offices to celebrate this day.

MAYBE everyone faces everyone TWICE. So it’s 240 matches instead of 120, and this will go to 2009! I’ve reprogrammed the chart to allow multiple matches between teams, which was hard with the confetti all over my keyboard and such.

UPDATED STANDINGS (chart)

Putting aside the gross lack of logic and organization in this tag team tournament – and in AAA generally! – there does appear to be leaders forming and some sort of pattern here. Those top two teams are logical champions, though a rivalry between them would be tecnico/tecnico. They should cut this thing off right now, and just do a tournament with the top four teams; I’m only a fan of one of ’em, but if you’re doing midrange tag team titles in AAA, those four fit.

Next known TV taping is 03/03, though I bet my hat that there’s one this week somewhere.

10 thoughts to “02/16 AAA TV Results”

  1. Black Buffalo is a wrestler from Osaka Pro. He’s worked there since 1999ish. Looks to be the original, not a generic AAA knockoff.

I’m very disapointed AAA ruined the tournament already. They could have at least lasted into March as the next two tapings looked set. Now we’ll see if we’re the only ones to mention it or if magazines like SuperLuchas/Luchas 2000/Guerreros Del Ring pick up on it as well.

  2. Rey Cometa/Super Fly had faced Los Sectarios, I guess this could mean that Fly/Pegasso is a new pairing and the Rey Cometa matches don’t count.

  3. *LMAO* Way to fuck with Cubs’ head, Chui.;) I’d love to see his reaction finding out he has to go back and recalculate things/redo the chart but from your own TV report it says Escoria/Espiritu beat Super Fly/*Pegasso* on the 1/20 taping.

I guess they’re just giving certain teams wins until there are 4 left so they can do the mini tournament or four way match. If that was the plan all along, they could have EASILY stuck to original matches but like I said when this tournament was first announced… no way any Mexican promotion could track something like this properly.

  4. Black Buffalo in AAA and teaming with Nicho & Head Hunter I, that’s totally random. From what I last saw of the guy in Osaka Pro, I thought he was pretty good.

  5. Yes, the match had Pegasso, but he was filling in for Rey Cometa so the bracket had cometa in that match so AAA thought that… oh, well:

Ciber distracted Sectarios allowing tecnicos to score the fall, since the tourney is to be ketp clean, the result was overthrown and a rematch ordered…

    That fixes it? Probably not…
