upcoming AAA TV schedule

08/12 Queretaro (week 2)
08/19 TripleMania (week 1)
08/26 TripleMania (week 2)
09/02 Madero (week 1)
09/09 Madero (week 2)
09/16 Lucha Libre Expo (1 week only)

Madero and the Expo will be airing 3 and 4 weeks after they tape. It’s unlike AAA to have that big of a gap. They’ve used that sort of extra time to take some weeks off or to tour internationally in the past. No sign of either of those two happening yet.

The other issue is Heroes Inmortales. I’m not sure we should assume that they’ll be having another major show before Guerra de Titanes. If they are, it must fit in late September or early Octoner, which means they have most of the TV before that show scheduled already.

On to more short term issues. Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. and Dr. Wagner meet once again. The last time we got a TripleMania repeat so soon after the show, it was La Parka getting his win back over LA Park. There’s not the same need here, and it seems more sensible just to have Wagner beat Mascara back to the midcard, but maybe there are bigger plans.

Semimain is feuding partners theater.

Cuatro has teams of people who don’t really team up facing their usual rivals, which might be a way to switch up some of the feuds. Or it might just be Octagon getting stomped by his partners again.

Kris figures the mystery team is the Devil Rockers and that seems like a good guess.

Second match looks awesome.

  1. What a segunda! That will be an awesome match! And Drago returns to TV opposite (hopefully) the Inferno Rockers who are custom made to eat his offense! Win, win! If they split the show up properly you can get 2 fun weeks of TV!

  2. Match # 5 may as well be a Relevos Increibles after what went down at Triplemania. I expect both teams to fall apart.

  3. It would be great of the Roldan feud ended with Dorian keeping AAA and Joaquin going off to start his own group, LLL. Two separate rosters. There’s enough talent to do that.

  4. @LLL: Or better yet restart LLL because it’s a lot better than the Sociadad. With Cibernetico turning rudo he could reclaim his spot as the leader of LLL.

Doing a brand split would mean that AAA would have to look for another TV deal and in the past AAA has never been able to keep a long term steady TV deal outside of Televisa. They did have a LLL show once on 52 but that was short lived. So was their FOX Sports show.

  5. @Daniel: I would like to see LLL as a brand, not a faction, like WWE has RAW and SMACKDOWN. It would be best for everyone.

AAA could split their timeslot on Televisa. First 1/2 could be LLL second half AAA.

You’re right. In 20 years they have never been able to expand beyond the weekly Televisa slot. Main reason is they don’t own a venue they run weekly while CMLL does(and can commit to weekly shows on various networks). That’s why they would have to split the weekly Televisa show in half. Won’t happen but it would be fun.

  6. @LLL: Keep in mind that even on televisa the timeslot is not consistant. Some weeks are 2 hours, some weeks 1.5 hours, and some weeks one hour.

I would like that brand split if we actually got two distinct brands. Joaquim’s AAA would be a more traditional type lucha libre show, and then Konnan/Dorian would have a garbage hardcore, trailor park, stupid LLL, like what AAA is right now. Then the cross over battles would be an dicotomy of styles clashing, like the old battles between AAA and LLL which was good. That would work. But if we just get two brands that are basically the same thing but with a different name then the brand split will be pointless and the fans will just shit and piss all over it, and rightfully so.

  7. @Daniel: Regional show could easily be split in two. Mexico City fans get that show on satellite and cablevision. Not sure how the “main show” would be split.

But it’s something they should really consider. It would elevate some talent and give stale talent a fresh start and bookings too.
