Didn’t expect to get this card until May, but SuperLuchas tracked it down. Let’s start on the weirdness from the top.

Main event will not be topping anyone’s list of best matches of the year, but it’s got quite the personalities. I need Perro Aguayo and Jeff Jarrett interacting, for one. This is back to back weeks of Jeff Jarrett, which never happened last year. And it’s back to back matches with no sign of LA Park. Maybe we can’t assume a match between them at TripleMania? Maybe they can’t figure out how to get LA Park on the card if he doesn’t want to be a tecnico?

The Rey de Reyes four way tag match was meant to be a title match with Abyss & Chessman involved, this match is just to round that off. It really was never clear why Abyss and Chessman were tag team champions to begin with, and there doesn’t seem to be any point to keeping them champs. Joe Lider does just one style I have no taste for and Juvi appears to be very beloved by someone in AAA management (who may not actually be the booker) despite a long messy past history; there are guys who’ve been around longer who seem to deserve the shot much more, but only certain guys are eligible. Getting the titles to Lider & Juvi may set up getting the titles to someone I’d actually be interested in a team, small steps.

Psicosis is most likely Nicho, though it’s not stated anywhere. Joe Lider burned him in the face at the last taping, which will explain why he’s back to using the mask. It’s a nonsensical explanation that trivializes the importance of the mask in lucha libre, but it’s all 100X more effort than they gave to Silver King wearing a mask. More interesting is Halloween continuing to show up here. It sure looks like the Perros del Mal split was really a Damian & Perro personal split, and everyone else is just going to stay friends with both of them (where it can get them bookings.) It’s the least bridging breakup in some time!

Daga & Fenix vs Ozz & Cuervo could be good. That and the opener are the usual people having the usual match.

I have even less idea what matches they’re building for TripleMania.

  1. Daga/Fenix vs. Cuervo/Ozz could be a seriously great match. It may be a long shot, but I’m thinking it might be a win for Daga and Fenix over the ex-champs leading to a future title match.

  2. Don’t overthink Triplemania. It’ll just be a collection of TNA wrestlers/obscure ex-WWE rejects in bad matches vs AAA wrestlers. And maybe they’ll turn Cibernetico so he can feud with Parka just to do something original.
