recap

Nothing great in itself, but some interesting bits and pieces

back to your corner!

Enrique Vera Jr. & Soberano Jr. vs Apocalipsis & Bobby Zavala: This was not Arena Mexico level. Soberano is fine, and well on his way to being the 20th best high flyer in the promotion, but these others guys are not quite good. Enrique Vera looked startlingly green in the first fall. All these guys need to get matches to get better, I know, but CMLL needs to find a 100 seat building and have them work out their kinks there, not in front of CMLL fans who’ll remember.

Pierrothito is a little bit quicker

Eléctrico, Fantasy, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito: A Dragoncito/Pierrothito match with no one going into the crowd! This was a low impact, lesser activity version of the minis match. Pequeño Warrior was most clearly on vacation of the bunch, but this seemed much toned down overall.

Hooligan, one man clean up crew

Rey Cometa, Titán, Triton vs Hooligan, Loco Max, Skándalo: I was concerned after the first fall that Titan & Triton would never be allowed to use their old moves again, but they broke the seal on them in the third fall. It was a nice sign. Match picked up a lot in the third fall, though I liked the first fall stuff with Loco and Titan and would look for a singles match between the two. Triton was still off and needs to get better, but did get a little better here. if these three técnicos team up again, they ought to come up with a team name. Perhaps something using, I dunno, their first initials? Maybe? Nah.

the rare triple reverse whip

Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Metro vs Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Escorpion: A beatdown that just ended, no comeback or nothing. Odd, but it’s good to mix a few odd ones in. The Metro vs Delta/Maya feud appears to be dropped. It was totally ignored here. The Felino/Tiger issues didn’t seem to be a big deal on TV.

this worked OK

Dragón Rojo Jr., Mr. Águila, Volador Jr. vs Ángel de Oro, Atlantis, La Máscara: tough to evaluate a match when a fall has been repeated, but there were some things to like about this one. Angel de Oro was a lot better this week, showing much more fire and making himself seem more important. Right now, this is still a insta-feud to create a main event for the next fan appreciation show, but they made it feel bigger than that.
