08/12: Mexico, FSE, GdR

CMLL (FRI) 08/11 Arena Mexico Results [galeno del mal,
1) Danger, Valiente b Apocalipsis, Ramstein
2) Mascara Purpura, Virus b Loco Max, Nitro
3) Felino, Metro II, Volador Jr. b Averno, Hombre sin Nombre, Mephisto
4) Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr., Lizmark Jr. b Eclipse, Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero
5) Dos Caras Jr., Hijo del Santo, Negro Casas DQ Hector Garza, LA Park, Mr. Aguila
Park fouled Dos, and feuded with Santo as well.
6) Hijo del Perro Aguayo b Rey Bucanero
Rey had Santo as a second, Perro had Garza as a second, and Hector interfered a lot in the third fall, helping Perro to win. Looks like they may be moving in a Rey/Hector direction now.

I woke up late and didn’t get the recording started for GdR till a half hour in. Looks like I joined just as the start of the tag title match.

Fox Sports de Espanol had OTHER matches from 08/06 Coliseo
Dark Angel, India Sioux, Marcela b La Nazi, Medusa, Princesa Sujei
Dr. Wagner, Hijo de Lizmark, Rey Bucanero b Mascara Ano 2000, Pierroth, Ultimo Guerrero

I’d guess that means the Aguila/Volador match was probably the opener GdR opener, and, at least for the time being, there’s indeed two different shows.

(trading time.)

Update: Galavision just rewound a tape on live TV. A great moment for the network. That’s not the deal, though – they preview a match with Sexy Francis & Medico, and that match was taped on July 7th! (I actually paid attention to the historical monuements for once, and they were visiting a place in Zacatecas, which is where that taping happened. So I know I’m right.) They just skipped 4 months of TV! And maybe now they’re putting in the right tape?

No, they’ve restarted the tape where they came back from the commerical break. SO WEIRD.

We’ve got
AAA TV (FRI) 07/07 Gimnasio Marcelino Gonzalez, Zacatecas, Zacatecas
Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Chessman b La Parkita, Octagoncito [2nd fall finish and 3rd fall only]
Cinthia Moreno, Elegido, Pimpinela Escarlata b Medico, Rossy Moreno, Sexy Francis
Chessman, Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz b Laredo Kid, Nemesis AAA, Rey Cometa Jr., Super Fly [MEX ATOMICO]
Alan Stone, Electroshock, Tigre Extreme b Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Juventued Guerrera
Brazo de Plata, La Parka Jr., Octagon b Muerte Cibernetica, Shocker, Zumbido

I believe this aired 4 weeks ago in Mexico. All of the sudden, they’re almost caught up! See how easy that was?

  1. Someone on the box y lucha board said the Aquila Volador tag match was the other match not the women.

  2. The top 4 Arena Coliseo matches being shown every week will do for me….. :D

A Momentos length segment on this FSE show (ie 2/3 minutes long) showing well-edited highlights of the opener would be nice too!

Things are looking good Lucha TV-wise with The Coliseo Sunday shows, new GDL TV, Arena Lopez Mateos etc – now if only CMLL could buck up their ideas and get this new ‘sprint’ style to hell!

I take it the tag title match aired on GdR?

  3. Next weeks cards up – they look pretty shit actually.

Isn’t Alex Koslov some so-cal indy guy? If so, how the hell can they justify bringing someone like him and putting him in the 3rd biggest match on the biggest card of the week??! It’s ridiculous

If they want a foreigner for heat purposes, can’t they put one of their existing undercarders who have been loyal to the promotion for years under a russian/american/whatever mask and go from there?

What is it with Mexicans and unknown foreigners coming in and being put over homegrown talent?! You’re damn sure you don’t see that in the US and Japanese big leagues….

  4. Oh man this is too much information to digest. The Secta/Fuerza Aerea Atomicos Titles match aired?!?!?!?! I haven’t seen that yet!:D Any chance you were recording cubs?;)

Today is definitely a weird day for Lucha TV b/c CMLL seems to have started earlier than planned meaning I missed whatever already aired as they are just starting to show the Guerrero/Olimpico/Eclipse match. So the Volador Jr. trios match probably already aired. Metro II’s TV debut?

I assumed the women aired on the FSE show b/c the first guy who posted said they had an interview with Dark Angel when he joined in. Could have been that was the GdR opener instead.

So CMLL now has at least 7 new matches per week on fresh TV. Possibly 8 if the Gala TV runs longer.

  5. OH NO – HERE WE GO AGAIN!

CMLL TV is running a contest to give Hombre Sin Nombre an actual name!

    Rob

  6. So we’re only about 9 months away from Safari getting a name. Fab.

ROB: important AAA angle question – why is Hijo de Tirantes wearing the suspenders again? I actually wanted to know where that one was going!

  7. Hell if I know.:) On TV they keep saying he’s not called Hijo De Tirantes any more but he’s always been wearing the suspenders as far as I can remember. Maybe it’s an angle coming up on one of the shows since you’re now AHEAD OF ME WITH AAA TV!:(

(thinking outloud: Will Henrik finally figure out who (I think) Metro II is when he sees Alexis’ new photos?)

  8. “(thinking outloud: Will Henrik finally figure out who (I think) Metro II is when he sees Alexis’ new photos?)”

Well i’d say that’s probably confirmed what i had suspected. :)

Only thing i wasn’t sure of was the cross tattoo because you can’t see that area of his back from the black singlet he used to wear.

But a moonsault plancha as beautiful as that is only be done by 4 guys in CMLL – and he’s not Mr Niebla, Valiente or Stuka! And the only other person around CMLL in recent years who could hit it like that is Mano Negra Jr but he’s a tall lanky guy.

I prefer the Neutron gimmick, but if this gets him higher up the card, then it’s all good. The gimmick won’t last forever anyway.

Any confirmation on whether this did air or not? it had better! :)

  9. Nah, I guess I didn’t tune in as late as I had thought b/c someone on the Box y Lucha board said it didn’t.:(

Semi-main was really great though. Went long so they edited the third fall but it still got plenty of time.

Metro II = Neutron makes sense to me just based on the pictures. Would rather see some video footage to prove it for sure though. It makes sense with Neutron disapearing from the lineups aside from the big cage match/Torneo a in early July, just when Metro II began appearing. It isn’t the moonsault plancha either, all the photos have him doing diving tope’s that nobody else in CMLL uses along with the somersault off the ropes that only Neutron used to do. I just don’t know how much legs this gimmick has. Metro pulls sponsorship = he becomes the new Hombre Sin Nombre.:)

  10. FWIW, the AAA Hater Moment of All Time was Extreme Tiger completely missing on the RVD-style gulliotine legdrop (with Juvi laying on the guardrail) – and them replaying it about 4 different times to examine just how badly Tiger missed. I greatly enjoyed that.

  11. That’s not an AAA-hater moment b/c Extreme Tiger sucks and deserves to be laughed at for everything he does.:) Maybe they’ll end the show with the usual video package and fade out with a picture of him missing the spot.

  12. “It isn’t the moonsault plancha either, all the photos have him doing diving tope’s that nobody else in CMLL uses along with the somersault off the ropes that only Neutron used to do. Actually, what first led me to think it was Neutron a few weeks ago, as well as the build, skin tone etc, was a photo of something as simple as a monkey flip which looked absolutely picture perfect – just as Neutron does it.

Sucks about it not airing. Would be nice for GdR to show it next week.

I hope they still keep Neutron alive in GDL. I’ve noticed he hasn’t been on their cards for a few months, and with it starting to air again, he needs to return!

  13. We should try and setup a weekly lucha chat at this time while cubs watches AAA, I watch CMLL(how backwards is THAT?) and Henrik goes on Neutron rants in between matches.:)

Perrito in a singles match is BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOring.

  14. In chat, you would’ve gotten far more of my fantasy football draft prep this week.

  15. Seeing Extreme Tiger miss that legdrop and them replaying that moment many times was hilarious. They didn’t fade out with that moment though. It was Crazy Boy taking a page out of a cousin’s playbook by using a moonsault off the entrance way and onto Electro, Lider and Alan Stone.

As far as this episode went, I liked the Secta/Fuerza Aerea Atomicos Titles match. I wished that had main evented instead of Parka, Porky & Octagon vs. Shocker, Muerte & Zumbido (it felt like a house show main event with too much comedy). I know that I would be asking for way too much. The minis match could have been good if they didn’t chop off the match until the end of the second fall.

  16. HOw about Tiratntes having to pop Juvi’s shoulder back in place after the match becuase of an Exteme Tiger fuck up? Extreme tiger makes Crazzy boy look like super crazy. He’s horrible.

Porky wasn’t as bad as i thought he would be.
