Saturday’s Arena Lopez Mateos show, to help Rey Escorpion pay for an operation for his child saw Rey Escorpion, Ultimo Guerrero, and Atlantis beat Villano IV, Villano V and Scorpio Jr. Straight fall win for the Guerreros, Rey Escorpion wiping out Scorpio Jr. with a dive while his parnters took care of the Guerreros. Amo La Lucha Libre has video of this match. Black Terry Jr. has video of Navarro & Traumas vs Solar, Chucho el Roto, and Iron Love: fall 1, fall 2, fall 3.

DTU’s Kids Day show included lap dances, men on women violence, and other lunacy. DTU: Keeping It Real.

Forjando un Idolo

I enjoyed both of these. Seems like the Puebla matches aren’t airing. Just to rub it in, Porra Fresa says Delta vs Guerrero Maya Jr. was the best match he’s seen in the tournament.

CMLL in NJPW
05/01:  Davey Richards (O), Rocky Romero, Mascara Dorada b Prince Devitt, Ryusuke Taguchi (X), Jushin Liger
Next show is the 05/03 title match.

LuchaWorld has the last two Ras de Lonas.

SuperLuchas #411 has a spiffy new look. Inside is an interview with Hijo del Santo (in full Hijo del Santo, telling us he could’ve beaten Fishman or Villano III for their masks but he had too much respect for them to challenge them, fishing for someone to pay for a Hijo del Solitario mask match, explaining Super Astros set the stage for Sin Cara & Alberto del Rio)

That’s a match to challenge for Gallo’s title. Though I wonder what they’re going to do with Metal Blanco’s title if he’s not going to be around here (and probably isn’t losing to one who’s sticking around.) ACG Drago is not the AAA Drago.

This is (also?) a Rey Escorpion benefit show, though he doesn’t wrestle on this one. Really stacked lineup, should be a fun card.

3 thoughts to “Rey Escorpion wins (twice), DTU, lineups”

  1. That Sunday GDL makes me happy. I can’t remember if it was here or in e-mail or on twitter where you explained your view on Rey Cometa’s position in CMLL but you seem to be dead on. His stock has clearly risen. If you ignore the Tuesday lineup CMLL has clerly been trying to seperate him from Pegasso lately and he’s moved into a position where he can work semi-main events or with semi-main event guys if the card is stacked. I’m happy for him. Sometimes you just can’t ignore talent I guess.

  2. I know this is not a WWE blog but I thought I’d comment after attending Extreme Rules in Tampa tonight.

About 7 or 8 kids running around with Sin Cara masks. Not bad for a guy who has been on television a handful of times and hasn’t said a word. His t-shirt is nice, but it says “A Todo Dar” in big vertical letters on the front, which will kill sales unless that somehow becomes his catchphrase. Even then, I think it’s such an odd catchphrase.

Sin Cara pinned Tyson Kidd in the dark match. He got a good reaction. He nailed the trampoline intro perfectly. I don’t like his finisher and it really speaks volumes of the high expectations they have for him. I’ll assume he can’t do La Mistica b/c someone high up doesn’t want a high flyer doing an armbar finisher.

Dos Caras Jr., was iffy in his ladder match. He looked uncomfortable. He almost botched the finish because he was not high enough on the ladder when he was tipped over the top rope, and his foot hit the rope almost causing him to stall but Brodus caught him and bled buckets and couldn’t move for a few minutes. Not sure if Dos caused the cut though.

Interesting seeing two of CMLL’s top stars live and doing well in WWE.

  3. Last night was the rare occasion when I see a WWE event… AdR didn’t bust Clay open – the face-first charge into the ladder in the corner did. When he was back up to catch AdR off the ladder he was already bleeding and there was a pool of blood on the floor they tried not to show. Christian got busted open hardway with the ladder too right before the finish, and they wiped it off pretty good before he came back in.
