Canada defeats Mexico 2-0, Ninja Turtles arrival imminent

IWRG (SUN) 09/28/2014 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Araña de Plata Jr. b Sky Ángel
straight falls
2) Metaleon & Saruman b Atomic Star & Freyser
3) Apolo Estrada Jr., Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo b Diva Salvaje, Dr. Cerebro, Miss Gaviota
straight falls. Gringos have passed over a year of being Mexico State champions.
4) Hijo De Dos Caras, Súper Nova, Veneno b Canis Lupus, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Universo 2000 Jr.
Hijo de Dos returned. Tecnicos took 2/3 though the third fall finish was confusing. Mascara had Dos down and covered him for a three count according to referee Sonrisas, but referee Reyes Rosas ruled Dos got a shoulder up in a time. Confusion followed, and Dos suplexed Mascara for the win.
5) Demon Clown DQ Cien Caras Jr.
Mexico vs Canada! Demon Clown jumped Cien, who was not really helped by Mascara hitting him with a chair by mistake. Demon took the middle rope splash for the second. Ref Rosas was taken out in the second fall, leading to Mascara coming in to help beat up Demon Clown, but the ref came too and DQed the Capos. Straight falls for Demon Clown. Cien, having lost in two falls, challenged Hijo de Dos for a title match and Demon for a rematch. Dos appeared to accept the title change.

A proud day for Canada! I wonder what Demon Clown’s fantasy hockey team is called. My interest in this main event program begins and ends with Demon Clown’s Canada-ness. I would suggest IWRG not try to book Hijo de Dos on 10/12. Just play it safe.

Gringos VIP attacked Dr. Cerbero during interviews, so that feud is still going. IWRG has a few set ups of big matches (for IWRG) but there’s no real idea of when they’ll be doing them now that September is over. They also have the annual Halloween cage match show about a month from now.

The new Ninja Turtles appeared before the crowd and it was announced they’ll debut next week. Not a big fan of the new designs, but the movie designs weren’t so great so maybe they’re accurate. They’re IWRG opening match guys getting a new gimmick.

Tonight’s CMLL show in Puebla was supposed to be Zeuxis challenging Estrellita for the Mexican Women’s Championship, but Estrellita is out with a rib injury. The Puebla paper who covers the shows says she’ll be out two weeks. (That match felt like a routine Estrellita defense when it was announced, but I’m now a lot less sure about that.) The actual main event is Ingobernables versus the odd team of Ultimo Guerrero, Gran Guerrero and Volador Jr.

The ColiseoMania show drew a big crowd last night in Arena Coliseo Monterrey. They say they’ll eb back on 11/02 for a Arena Coliseo 59th Anniversary show.

ChilangaMask added Fly Warrior, Karma, Electro Boy vs Oficial AK47, Oficial 911, Kastigador vs Astro Rey Jr., Benji Maverick, Psico Kid (as the Guardians of the Galaxy) to the 10/25 Coacalco show and the Indystrongtibles trio of Impulos, Arez, Belial against Monterrey locals Xtreme Dragon, Dralion and Rey Orion to the 10/26 Arena Solidaridad show.

Ovett & Angel o Demonio broke up on the DTU shows this weekend.

XMW will have a show on 11/01 at Gimnasio Gloria (named “Una Noche Mas” because the previous show at Gimnasio Gloria was thought to be the last ever one there.)

Cronicas y Leyendas writes about Barbaro Cavernario vs Rey Cometa.

Octagon was signing autographs in Ciudad Juarez yesterday, only Octagon says it wasn’t him! Who goes around being a fake Octagon?

10/12 AAA TV Lineup (San Luis Potosi)

AAA TV (SUN) 10/12/2014 Domo San Luis, San Luis Potosi, San Luis Potosí
1) Dinastía, Faby Apache, Niño Hamburguesa, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Eterno, Mamba, Mini Abismo Negro, Taya Valkyrie
2) Angélico vs Jack Evans, Joe Lider, Hijo del Fantasma ©, Bengala, Aerostar, Súper Fly, Steve Pain [AAA CRUISER]
Hijo del Fantasma’s second defense
3) Monsther Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Averno, Chessman, Cibernético [street fight]
4) Myzteziz vs La Parka, Blue Demon Jr., Australian Suicide, Zorro, Pentagón Jr., Fénix, Daga [Copa Antonio Pena, lumberjack]
5) El Mesías & El Patrón Alberto vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Texano Jr.

Air Date: 10/25 – and only one week, because it’s surprisingly only five matches? They do make it up in volume of people in those matches.

This show only slightly follows from recent TV, but Alberto wrestling in his first big match in front of his home town crowd was always going to be the big draw. Tickets went on sale already, run from 903 to 91 pesos ($67 to $7USD), and the two most expensive sections are already sold out (or at least not available on TicketMaster.) This entire show is the first step to Guerra de Titanes, and the main event should be the first step to Alberto/Texano.

past Copa Antonio Pena winners
2007: Charly Manson
2008: Mesias
2009: Cibernetico
2010: Aerostar
2011: Electroshock
2012: Texano Jr. (and then vacated by DQ)
2013: La Parka

La Parka has a good chance of winning this for a second time, though Myzteyz and Demon also figure to have chances to win (and Zorro could use a reason to exist; he’s barely been around this year.) It’s a weird assortment of guys, with Fenix, Daga, Pentagon and Suicide usually existing in a different universe than other four guys, and boosted out of the previous match to give other guys a shot.

The Hell Brothers being matched up with the Psycho Clowns give both sides something to do. It seems like a setup to a trios title match between now and December, depending on what the plans are for Blue Demon.

Twenty years from now, someone’s going to be looking thru AAA results in 2014 and be totally confused about us saying Steve Pain was ever gone. He gets the missing title shot from TripleMania (now just missing Eterno), and Bengala and Aerostar go from being sad about failing on their shots to getting another one right away. Such is life in AAA. If the cruiserweight title is meant to mean something, Fantasma should hold it for a lot longer, but it’s unclear if it’s supposed to mean anything. The match should be chaos. Aerostar & Super Fly will be at each other and Lider gets to do the prop violence he missed out on last multiman match.
