ChilangaMask (Valiente versus everyone), Wagner/Canek in IWRG, Fenix to NOAH, IWL

ChilangaMask (SUN) 08/25/2013 Coliseo Coacalco [Black Terry Jr. (Flickr), MT]
1) Skándalo b Astro Rey Jr., Impulso, Relampago, Zurdog, Stukita, Hijo Del Angel, Belial, Terremoto Negro, Fulgor
Skandalo beat Belial to win the Aerial Assualt. Impulso was most cheered.
2) Aero Boy b Kaientai
Aeroboy now gets to go to CZW to face Masada.
3) Arkángel de la Muerte b Magnifico
Isis was in Arkangel’s corner.
4) Solar I b Judas el Traidor
Best match of the night, Judas looking good against Solar. Judas asked or a title match despite the loss and Solar said OK.
5) Negro Navarro b Dr. Cerebro Negro
Navarro’s opponents was first Shu el Guerrero, then changed to Rey Escorpion. Escorpion didn’t show, so Navarro beat Cerebro Negro and said the CMLL guys were afraid of him.
6) Black Terry b Guerrero Maya Jr.
very hard match, recalling their old feud. Maya worked as a rudo, but Terry still submitted him to an armbar.
7) Trauma I & Trauma II COR Valiente & Virus
Valiente & Virus fell apart as a team and got counted out while fighting each other. Traumas mocked the CMLL team for being dummies, and the CMLL team yelled back at them. Valiente also said he wasn’t scared of Negro Navarro and challenged him to a singles match.

When Valiente wasn’t having problems with Virus, the Traumas and Negro Navarro, Valiente was having words with Black Terry. So many possible Valiente matches. Show sounds like it was fun.

IWRG (SUN) 08/25/2013 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (Flickr), IWRG, LAS]
1) Fulgor I & Fulgore II b Seiya & Sky Ángel
2) Astro Rey Jr. & Mr. Leo b Alan Extreme & Imposible
Much head dropping on finishers. Rey/Leo took 1/3 for the upset.
3) Chucho el Roto, Iron Love, Yakuza b Centvrión, Golden Magic, Zenky
IWRG vs AULL. Zenky replaced Freelance. Rudos took 2/3, Chucho sneaking in a foul on Golden Magic at the end.
4) Apolo Estrada Jr., Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. b Bobby Lee Jr., Fresero Jr., Pantera
Fresero Jr. replaced Dinamic Black (also booked in Arena Solidaridad). Rudos took 1/3, Wagner moonsaulting Pantera.
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Trauma I, Trauma II DQ Canek, Eterno, X-Fly
Tecnicos took 2/3, Canek pulling off Wagner’s mask for the DQ.

Crowd was up with Canek & Wagner in (though maybe not enough to pay for them given the cheap tickets.) Second match was true FILL style. Tercera looks like the start of a longer AULL/IWRG feud. I have no idea who Zenky is though there is a Mexico City area guy with that name.

NOAH announced Fenix as appearing on their September tour. This is the big news Fenix has been hinting about. He mentioned on Twitter that he’s just got his cast off this week. Nothing is going to stop him from making these shows. Fenix is working the opener (versus Kaiser) on the first show, then the main event (part of the heavyweight title build) in the second show. He should have a lot of fun.

IWL is airing at 4pm today. No Tercera Caida (or Fusion) on Wednesday, maybe Thursday.

An in ring funeral service (complete with casket) was held for Hidalgo luchador Tino El Demonio Arrieta

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 09/01/2013 Arena Coliseo
1) Leono & Molotov vs Akuma & Canelo Casas
2) Dalis la Caribeña, Estrellita, Luna Mágica vs La Comandante, Princesa Sugheit, Tiffany

4) Ángel de Oro, Diamante Azul, Valiente vs Namajague, Shigeo Okumura, Taichi
5) La Sombra, Marco Corleone, Thunder vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Vangellys
6) Atlantis vs Hiroshi Tanahashi

Wasting no time with the Tanahashi/Atlantis match (which would allow him to leave right after next Friday.) It’s possible Tanahashi could beat Sombra, Atlantis, and Rush in home arenas in the span of eight days. Even I’m not cynical enough to believe that can actually happen – it can’t, right?

Canelo Casas appears to be a regular, or however regular you can be when you’re stuck in Molotov-land.

Again, they’ll show Canelo vs Mayweather after the show, which means this show has to get done before that fight (midnight?), or maybe that’ll just be the intermission. Let’s take a moment to note that not only is Mexican Hero Canelo Alvarez fighting a guy from the USA during the time I’m in Mexico, but the Mexican National Football Team is playing the USA team (in the USA) the day before I arrive. These are two very big sporting occasions for Mexico and maybe an American would be concerned about Mexico’s feelings towards visiting Americans should Mexico go 0-2 (a very possible outcome.) Luckily, as we all know, I am totally Canadian.
