Tijuana, Mascara/Volador, mask feuds in IWRG

The Crash (FRI) 09/28/2012 Auditorio de Tijuana [The Gladaitores]
1) Black Boy b El TiranoFantástico
Black Boy won what was scheduled to be a tag match (no Heilos.) Fantastico put on a MV shirt and attacked Black Boy after the match.
2) Mr. Maldito, Pensamiento Negro II, Sargon b Venum Black, Venum Black Jr., Xtorm [semifinal]
Venum Black Jr.’s debut, losing to a Maldito moonsault.
3) Jonathan, Star Boy, Urzus b Black Spider, Cinico, Viento [semifinal]
4) Mr. Maldito, Pensamiento Negro II, Sargón b Jonathan, Star Boy, Urzus [final]
jumped the winners of the last match immediatley. Maldito again won with a moonsault, this time on Star Boy. MV Promotions ran in and destroyed Mr. Maldito, setting up a promotion vs promotion trios match on 10/12.
5) Zarco b Trauma II [NTW CRUISER]
Zarco, champion, was seconded by usual partner Viento. He toko falls 2/3 to keep the title.
6) Electroshock, Héctor Garza, Tony Casanova DQ Angel Metalico, Blue Demon Jr., LA Park
Angel Metalico & Tony Casanova were added to the match. Straight falls for the tecnicos, Electro caught unmasking Park for the DQ.

CMLL (SUN) 09/30/2012 Arena Coliseo [CMLL, La Catedaral]
1) Bengala & Freesbe DQ Camorra & Espanto Jr.
Tecnicos took 2/3. Camorra yanked Bengala’s mask for the DQ.
2) Hijo del Signo, Molotov, Sensei b Artillero, Hooligan, Súper Comando
Hooligan replaced Nosferatu, who hasn’t been seen in 3 weeks. Hijo del Signo replaced Tigre Blanco and worked on the tecnico side, but did not get along with his partners. Tecnicos still took 1/3 for the win.
3) Dalis la Caribeña, Lady Afrodita, Marcela b La Comandante, La Seductora, Lady Apache
Marcela replaced Luna Magica. Rudas took 2/3 in a poor match.
4) Averno b Guerrero Maya Jr. [lightning]
Averno won in 8 minutes with a super Devil’s Wings.
5) Namajague, Shigeo Okumura, Taichi b Diamante, Hijo del Fantasma, Stuka Jr.
Japan took 1/3. Taichi pinned Fantasma with his version of the Gedo clutch. Fantasma laid on the mat for a while like he was knocked out by the cradle.
6) Rey Bucanero, Tiger, Volador Jr. b Blue Panther, La Máscara, Valiente
Rudos took 1/3. Volador pinned Mascara clean with the superkick and backcracker combo. Volador attempted to challenge Mascara for a title match on the microphone, but the microphone failed (live, fine on the stream.) The idea was still communicated.

Volador/Mascara (#8?) seems like the main event for 10/14, with Fantasy vs Mercurio as the fourth match.

Tons of problems with the feed this week.

IWRG (SUN) 09/30/2012 Arena Naucalpan [me]
2) Alan Extreme, Black Terry, Temerario Infernal b Centvrión, Dinamic Black, Saruman
Temerarios took 1/3
3) Carta Brava Jr. (IWRG), Rayan, Spartan b Carta Brava Jr. I, Oficial 911, Oficial Fierro
straight falls. Brava II/Rayan/Spartan DQed for excessive violence in 1st, Oficials pin Comandos in second. Carta Bravas destroyed each other’s masks. Carta Brava Jr. IWRG was wrestling with an Electroshock-style mask by the end of the match. Mask match challenges followed the match, as did Carta Brava IWRG randomlly challenged for the lightweight title.
4) Comando Negro, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Oficial AK47 b Dr. Cerebro, el Ángel, Hijo de LA Park
Rudos took 1/3. Comando Negro was eliminated in the third fall, but used a ref distracted to pull Angel’s mask and set him up for Wagner’s pin. Angel rolled around on the floor with Wagner after the match, and had to be held back from coming after Comando Negro.
5) Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Máscara Sagrada, Veneno DQ Cien Caras Jr., Factor, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000
16:27 (21:33 including breaks), falls 3:17, 3:50, 9:20. Tecnicos took 2/3. Cien rouled Sagrada and pulled off his mask for the DQ. mask match challenges between Pirata and Factor and Cien and Sagrada.

IWRG’s Castle of Terror should be coming up in 4 or 5 weeks, and they’re teasing a lot of mask feuds. That all may be a concidence.

By the way, this GIF includes everything you ever need to know about IWRG. It’s all there.

No detailed results from AAA’s TV taping yet. The Inferno Rockers match was said to be very good, but not even a picture of the new Rocker. Texano again challenged Mesias for a title match.

Titan defeated Euforia by DQ in Guadalajara. It was said to be good from start to finish. Euforia won the first wtih a powerbomb, Titan snuck in a move in the second, Euforia headbutt fouled him in the third. That seems like it’s going to happen to Eufoira a lot.

Haven’t seen anything on the Legend show in Arena Lopes Mateos. This was a busy weekend, and next week is about the same with Heroes Inmortales. We should wait until next Sunday’s lineup comes out for this, but I’m looking for thoughts about when the chat should run (and if people are interested in a chat.) I don’t know that we’ll get any more AAA results then the scattered and incomplete stuff they’ve posted from the last few TV tapings, and there probably won’t be as many other people live tweeting results like for TripleMania. I’m not sure if a chat going from 5 to whenever AAA gets done (11?) is something people are looking forward to; two weeks of doing that schedule and I’m already tired of that schedule! On the other hand, a lot of people who would comment in a chat are usually twittering during the CMLL show anyway, so maybe you ight as well have a chat too.

CMLL posted the Mercurio/Fantasy contract signing video from this week’s CMLL show.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

SuperLuchas #492 has Canek vs Wagner and interview with Atlantis. A lot of times, it’s the interviewer leading the luchador into making those kind of comments, but Atlantis himself brings up possible retirement unprompted. He says he doesn’t have a when or where in mind but knows it’s coming. It’s very interesting.

It will be sad when Atlatnis gets vetoed for talking to SuperLuchas! (Half kidding?) SuperLuchas got to talk to Atlantis because he was working the FULL show last weekend. That’s suposed to air on AYM Sports some time soon.

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 10/04/2012 Arena Naucalpan
1) Perseus & Vera Miss vs Exorcista Jr. & La Hiedra
2) Centvrión & Saruman vs Imposible & Infierno Kid Jr.
3) Devil Rocker, Machine Rocker, Soul Rocker vs Alan Extreme, Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro
4) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Negro Navarro vs Factor, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Oficial AK47
5) Cien Caras Jr. vs Psycho Clown [IWRG IC HEAVY]
Cien Caras is the champ

Title change is not out of the question.

Tercera could be very good.

Perseus is Sangre Chicana’s son, who’s advanced in QPPLC last year and this. La Hiedra is also from northern Mexico. Exorcista Jr. is a QPPLC from Veracruz last year, and he was also in the Veracruz locals match that turned up on AAA TV before recently starting to appear in Mexico City. Probably not a concidence they all happen to be around at the same time. No idea on Vera Miss.

IWRG (SUN) 10/07/2012 Arena Naucalpan
1) La Parkita & Voladorcito vs Bracito De Plata & Mr. Aguilita
2) Centvrión, Freelance, Gipsy vs Alan Extreme, Imposible, Sádica
3) Carta Brava, Dinamic Black, Golden Magic vs Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, Violencia Jr.
4) Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Tony Rivera vs Eterno, Oficial 911, Zumbido
5) el Ángel, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Máscara Sagrada, Pirata Morgan, Veneno vs Cien Caras Jr., Factor, Heddi Karaoui, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr.

Ten enterances! Main event may not start until 10.

Zumbido and Tony Rivera return, continue to exist. They are as random as the minis.

Sadica is a woman, so Gipsy probably is. IWRG really hasn’t done mixed tag without AAA involement, but this probably would work out better than six random indy women just because of the other four guys involved.

09/28 AAA TV Results (Naucalpan)

AAA TV (FRI) 09/28/2012 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr)The Gladiatores]
1) Gran Apache, Jennifer Blake, Mari Apache b Atomic Boy, Fabi Apache, Lolita
Apache stole Atomic Boy’s mask.
2) Devil Rocker, Machine Rocker, Soul Rocker b Fenix, Freelance, Samurai del Sol
Freelance was representing IWRG. Said to be a very good match.
3) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Cien Caras Jr., Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Trauma I
Trauma’s team represents IWRG. Psycho pinned Cien Caras Jr. to set up a title match here next week.
4) Jack Evans, Juventud Guerrera, Ozz b Daga, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Teddy Hart
Bizarros ran out of the crowd to attack the Perros after the match. Both sides agreed to the hair match next week.
5) Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Texano Jr., Toscano b Dr. Wagner Jr., El Mesías, La Parka
Trios champs beat top of AAA, with Texano pinning Mesias and challenging for a title shot. Mesias was open for it.

Air Date: 10/06? 10/13?

AAA recap is oddly sparse. Everyone who usually would do a recap for a big show in Arena Naucalpan never does one when AAA comes to town, it’s kind of odd.

The Rockers have to pull their masks back and expose their faces when they blow fire as part of their enterance. It’s not a problem when AAA has their usual stage away from the crowd, but that’s not the case in Arena Naucalpan. There’s unmasked photos of at least one floating about, though it’s no one I recognize.

Next Televisa taping is 10/07 in SLP for Heroes Inmortales, but next AAA taping is tonight in DF for Fusion.

Dragon Rojo double champion, Guerreros break up (again)

CMLL (THU) 09/27/2012 Arena Afición [Crtierio HidalgoHidalgoSport]
1) Jaguar b Sable
2) Arenita & Henry b Genio Rojo & Guerrero Mixtico
3) Camaleón, Flayer, Robin b Cholo, Estruendo, Flecha
4) Fuego, Stuka Jr., Triton b Cancerbero, Raziel, Skándalo
Tecnicos took 1/3, excessive violence DQ in the third.
5) Atlantis, La Máscara, Mistico b Averno, Mephisto, Último Guerrero
Averno replaced Volador, making this the first time he’s faced Mistico. Tecnicso took 2/3. The two reports strongly disagreed on Mistico’s performance – one saying he was much improved, one saying he did not do much.

CMLL (FRI) 09/28/2012 Arena Mexico [Estrellas del RingKaiser Sports (rest)Kaiser Sports (title)]
1) Leono & Metálico b Taurus & Zayco
Tecnicos took 1/3. Metalico, just returned from a broken leg, injuried his leg leg in this match. He was screaming in pain in the ring. Early report was a torn ligament.
2) Acero, Fantasy, Shockercito b Mercurio, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior
Acero is the new name for Nino de Acero. Tecnicos took 1/3, Fantasy pulling Mercurio’s mask and pinning him. They both talked about the mask match on the mic in the ring after teh match.
3) Blue Panther, Máscara Dorada, Rey Cometa b Puma King, Sangre Azteca, Vangelis
Tecnicso won 1/3. Cometa led a quick first fall win, and Panther submitted Sangre in the third.
4) Máximo b Taichi [lightning]
Maximo won in 8 minutes, threatened to shave Taichi again.
5) Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Mistico b Euforia, Rey Escorpión, Último Guerrero
Tecnicos took 2/3. Guerreros fell apart in the third fall and Euforia & UG stomped Escorpion after the match.
6) Dragón Rojo Jr. b Prince Devitt [NWA MIDDLE]
Seconds were Mascara Dorada (Devitt) and Tony Salazar (Dragon Rojo). Rojo took 2/3 to win the title and become double middleweight champion.

Dragon Rojo says he wants to defend the titles in Japan versus Devitt or Lyger, or facing Lyger in a mask vs mask match. Tony Salazar’s presence in the title match is unusual. Salazar probably was there to act as translator during the match. They could (but didn’t) explain it as the other Guerreros being too busy fighting to second him.

Dragon Rojo is not horrible, but it seems like there should be people who made more sense beating Devitt and winning title. Admittedly, when you start looking at the list of rudos right now, it’s a bit harder to figure: if Volador and Averno couldn’t win it, then – Mephisto? Negro Casas? Rey Escorpion? Euforia? Maybe the larger problem is the lack of new top rudos who can be taken seriously. CMLL’s moved up a lot of tecnicos, but only Tiger, Euforia and Rey Escorpion on the rudo side.

The big news for AAA’s TV taping was an IWRG development – Psycho Clown pinned Cien Caras Jr. in a midcard match, and the two will now meet for at Cien’s IWRG Heavyweight title next Thursday. The main event teased a different heavyweight title match, as Texano pinned Mesias and asked for his own shot. They were less clear on when that might happen. This past week’s TV greatly rewrite story of El Consejo, with Silver King revealing he was behind the group all along and was now the offical leader, reducing Toscano & Texano to the roles of trios lackeys (who then started to look dumb for jumping to AAA.) Mesias vs Texano would veer them back in the other direction. More notes after AAA’s recap gets posted.

Lucha Libre in Japan

09/29 NOAH:
4) Ricky Marvin b Taiji Ishimori
5) Super Crazy b Atsushi Kotoge

Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 10/05/2012 Arena Mexico
1) Camaleón & Stigma vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Sensei, Super Halcon Jr. vs Bobby Zavala, Disturbio, Hijo del Signo
3) Delta vs Tiger [lightning]
4) Guerrero Maya Jr., Sagrado, Valiente vs Namajague, Shigeo Okumura, Taichi
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Mistico vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Euforia, Rey Escorpión
6) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas vs Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush

Main event is trios champs versus possible contenders (perhaps ones who were supposed to get a shot a few weeks ago.) Title match probably is a few weeks away if it happens.

Dragon Rojo was trying to be peacemaker last time he was seen in the Guerreros feud, but probably will pick a side by the end of the semimain.

Leyenda de Azul is 10/12. Here’s a promo to prove it.

Rojo/Devitt, Tales of Mask Men, Casandro

Today’s Arena Mexico show is headlined by Prince Devitt vs Dragon Rojo for Devitt’s NWA Historic Middleweight Championship. Devitt is the favorite, though Dragon Rojo has been prone to the inexplicable victory (like over Lyger for last year.) The undercard has a Maximo vs Taichi lightning match. Zayco returns in the opener.

Kcidis draws Dragon Rojo training for the match.

Lots of articles about Tales of Masked Men, which debuts tonight. The best one I’ve seen is Slam!’s, which included an interview with the director about how they picked the luchadors they focused on (Santo, Mascara Sagrada, and the Solars.)

KGB Wrestling has a good interview with Casandro about his career. He mentions he’s about two months away from being able to return to the ring, and traveling internationally to film festivals with the Exotico movie.

An Colombian article hyping the already canceled international show this weekend has promoter el Jaguar claiming he wrestled in Madison Square Garden, won the world light heavyweight championship three times, and was best friends with El Santo. I can’t believe this guy didn’t come thru on the shows he was promoting, he seems like such an honest guy.

Silver King, hyping Heroes Inmortales, says he was always behind Consejo and helping Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. take Dr. Wagner’s mask.

Rob has highlights of mid January 2001 AAA and the top 5 spots of the week.

09/29-09/30 lucha times

box.

Besides the usual lucha shows, PBS’s VOCES has “Tales of Masked Man” lucha libre documentary. Start time varies; it’s on at 10 PM here.

El Mundo seems to be repeating their episode in order, so we may be done with that one already.

=== CMLL ===

Galavision/Televisa: Should have the Rush/Terrible follow up trios and always assume the women’s match ends up on this show.

FOX: which means Devitt/Dragon Rojo build up moves here, along with the Cometa/Puma trios.

52MX: lighting match, random trios, and Devitt and Volador in trios. Note this follows a football (americano) game and started about 15 minutes late when that happened a couple weeks ago.

C3: Mephsito vs Titan, Pesta Negra vs Mascara, Sagrado, Stuka.

GDL: Volador Jr. vs Prince Devitt

EstrellaTV/TVC Deportes (Puebla): both versions of Puebla are on the same week, though with slightly different match choices. This should be the show with the latest Marcela vs Amapola match. It also has the match where the fans got on Shocker. The match that got Volador/Niebla suspended was not shown, it would only make sense to give this main event the same treatment.

En Busca de un Idolo: debuts on Fox Sports +. If they’re going in order, they go back to April 27th for Polvora vs Dragon Lee and Puma King vs Triton.

Terra: The final 3 matches look strong; Guerrero Maya vs Averno (first time ever), Diamante/Fantasma/Stuka vs Namajague/Okumura/Taichi and Bucanero/Taichi/Volador vs Panther/Valiente/Mascara

=== Other ===

AAA: the main show should have Chessman/Halloween/Psi vs Ciber/Garza/Ozz and Wagner/Shocker/Jack vs Mascara/Silver/Teddy, both of which lead into the Heroes Inmortales. The regional show adds a Infernal Rockers vs Alebrije/Fenix/Samurai match, a mixed tag with the Apaches and Cuervo, and a minis match.

IWRG-TVC Deportes: They aired Sunday’s taping last week, so they’ll have this past Thursday’s show this week (and the FILL show next week, by the looks of the camera.) Cien and the Traumas take on Navarro, Wagner and Mascara in a feuding partners main event, while the Temerarios meet the Officals.

IWRG-AYM Sports: early matches look best: Centviron, Dinamic Black, Saruman vs Los Temerarios. Actual main event is Pirata/Veneno/Sagrada vs Cien/Factor/Mascara.

ACM: they did run a show last week, but not sure they actually taped it (or anyone showed up.) Probably reruns.

Volador defeats Prince Devitt, Heroes Inmortales, Mercurio/Fantasy

CMLL (TUE) 09/25/2012 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Espectrum & Èvola b Black Metal & Halcón de Plata
2) Bárbaro Cavernario & Disturbio b Leo & Stigma
3) Pólvora, Puma King, Skándalo b Gallo, Rey Cometa, Starman
Very Cometa/King focused with the other guys not doing much. Puma won with a powerbomb.
4) La Sombra, Rush, Valiente b Dragón Rojo Jr., Euforia, Rey Escorpión
Euforia replaced Mr. Aguila. Tecincos won, but rudos stormed the ring after the match and took Valiente’s mask.
5) Volador Jr. b Prince Devitt
Volador won clean with a backcracker. Mije helped out early, finished sounded clean.

Volador vs Prince Devitt I: no Mije, Volador lost
Volador vs Prince Devitt II: no Mije, Volador lost
Volador vs Prince Devitt III: Mije there and Volador wins.

AAA sent out the Heroes Inmortales lineup, which is exactly as the local newspaper had about three weeks ago (except they know how to spell Atomic Boy.) The superlatives are overwhelming in this one: Silver King, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. and Jeff Jarrett are “the three best rudos of the day” (what a terrible day) and the 12 wrestlers in Copa Antonio Pena “want to have the opportunity to honor Antonio Pena.” Toscano & Texano are in that match, I’m pretty sure their gimmick is the opposite.

Chessman, hyping the Heroes Inmortales card,  is unsure why Lider is getting another shot for the tag belts, or why he picked such a lousy partner. The article mentions the AAA & the local promoter made sure public transportation would be running after the show, which is a help given how late into the night that show will run.

I will not get to AAA TV until tonight, but I guess the announcers been saying Heroes Inmortales is on 10/05. All the advertising says 10/07. It’s actually 10/07.

Mercurio vs Fantasy, mask vs mask, will take place on 10/14 at Arena Mexico. CMLL held contract signing yesterday, with both guys giving usual quotes. They’re pushing experience (Fantasy) versus youth (Mercurio), which probably means bad news for the experienced guy when CMLL is push all new stars. Fantasy had been a fringe guy on the roster until about the last year, as well. Fantasy refers it to as a (the?) celebration of 20 years of Pequeno Estrellas. Mercurio’s hometown was mentioned as Monterrey, which is at least the third different hometown he’s given. Panico said they’re still putting together the lineup and don’t know where the match will be on the card, suggesting it could be the main event. It will not be a main event. Astral/Pequeno Nitro was the fourth match, which is the most likely spot for this one.

CMLL usually has a press conference in the next week or so. (They’ve got all the usual material ready: foreign people visiting, other people leaving, tournament to talk about, groups breaking up and/or forming.) They could’ve just waited until that to announce this match, but maybe they wanted to make sure we knew they were actually going to have the match despite not booking them together this week.

AAA will interview La Parka tonight on a webcast. Ask him if he he bought his son a new bike after Cibernetico broke his old one. Also, is Taboo alive?

Mr. Cacao says he’ll be back in CMLL in October.

Lineup

CMLL (TUE) 10/02/2012 Arena Mexico
1) Freesbe & Robin vs Cholo & Inquisidor
2) Molotov, Pegasso, Soberano Jr. vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Taurus
3) Estrellita, Goya Kong, Marcela vs Amapola, La Comandante, Princesa Blanca
4) Stuka Jr. vs Niebla Roja [lightning]
5) Blue Panther, Diamante, Hijo del Fantasma vs Mephisto, Puma King, Vangelis
6) Diamante Azul, Shocker, Super Porky vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Volador Jr.

Shocker is back! The injury seems to have healed in exactly two weeks, how about that.

Still figuring on Estrellita/Blanca on 10/09

Taurus makes a quick jump to the second match. Maybe he worked with Soberano before? Can’t find a lineup.
