GCW and many other promotions jumped to FITE+ on 11/01. One of the selling points is the vast archive of past GCW shows are now available as part of FITE+’s subscription.
The GCW archive is kinda a joke. If you are a normal person have FITE+ and want to watch a GCW show, the smart way to do is the Google “[GCW show name] FITE]”, and Google will find it for you. If you are trying to find a specific wrestler or specific match, go to Cagematch or Wrestling Data to search for it, then Google the show name. Do not use the GCW landing page on FITE.
I don’t think GCW or FITE+ means to be malicious about it, but they’ve also put in zero thought in what would be a useable experience. They just uploaded a whole bunch of files, copy and pasted some (often incomplete) descriptions and moved on to more important things under the belief that anyone diehard enough to watch these shows will just figure out. FITE is an atrocious mess for looking at anything that’s drifted off the live schedule. It was never meant to be a video library, they make their money off live or near live video, not a video library. By saying “it’s terrible” and “it’s user-unfriendly”, I think I’m saying something people at FITE already know, they’re just investing their money and time in other ways.
Most sane people are not going to bother going through two other sites to find a old show. That’s fine – GCW and FITE probably don’t expect many people to watch the archives. They’re just there to check off a box, and because people would complain if they weren’t there. You’ll surely get your value from the service just on the new videos at all. But, in case you’re an insane person, I will save you some time by linking all the Mexican wrestler appearances.
GCW shows only seem to go back to 2018, not even complete there, and I have no idea if that’s a legal issue or just an omission. (Please don’t read that or anything else in this post as if I’m desiring a further discussion of indy wrestling video politics.) They don’t include the recent JCW shows, which are free on YouTube but might as well be on FITE+ too if the idea is everything is on FITE+ so people don’t have to jump between apps. All the shows that aren’t actually GCW are there because they were part of a Collective weekend. I’m not sure if they’re actually sorted correctly, but the FITE link should work as long as those shows exist. I’m not including Gringo Loco because then I’d need to include Air Wolf and then someone else and then someone else and then I’d never know peace. I feel like I’m mostly missing a bunch of Drago Kid appearances.
The quickest way to use this list is to Ctrl-F your way into finding names you’re interested in. I’ve called out a couple of matches I’ve actually seen and enjoyed, but I haven’t seen everything and my taste in wrestling is terrible.
