Príncipe Aéreo passed away from a ruptured middle cerebral artery, according to the medical report obtained by Mas Lucha. Initial reports had it as a heart attack. Instead, it’s a brain injury, an aneurysm. They’re very rare in an athlete the age of Príncipe Aéreo (23). Some types of aneurysms can be caused by head injuries. I have not seen the full match, I did not see an obvious head injury in the clip that was online and reports of people there live do not mention anything significant. (There’s a clip of a dive he performed during the match and his head does not impact anything.) Príncipe Aéreo does not signal any head injury in the moments before he collapses; it is possible he had a condition he was born with which went undiscovered.
There is an ongoing investigation into Príncipe Aéreo’s passing. I do not know if we’ll ultimately hear much more about it, but both the Mexico State lucha libre commission and other authorities are looking into the death. That should be standard practice any time someone passes away in a match.
There is a GoFundMe for Príncipe Aéreo around, saying they’re raising money for funeral expenses. GoFundMe is not a website Mexicans use to raise money. This GoFundMe is not connected to the main promotion sponsoring Saturday’s show (MexaWrestling), Príncipe Aéreo’s family, or the wrestlers who were his friends. Some of those people have asked people not to send money towards it. MexaWrestling and Lucha Time (a Monterrey promotion who provided some of the wrestlers, including the other wrestler who is in the ring when Príncipe Aéreo collapsed) have said they will be paying for all funeral expenses. The wrestlers on the show are also contributing their pay for the night. I am not questioning the intent behind the GoFundMe, but I would advise waiting to see if there’s an endorsed fund-raising campaign if you’re looking to help out.
Likewise, I think a suddenly announced Principe Aereo charity show on 10/24 in Arena Neza is well intentioned. It also comes off rushed and unclear. There’s 11 promotions on the show for a show advertising 6 matches. That’s not a good look. Maybe all those promotions are donating money to their family, which would be great; it’s not clear on the poster or any of the promotions messages. Maybe all the money is being donated to the family; that’s not said. It comes off as a rush effort to say they’re doing something (and specifically say they’re not doing it with Lucha Time, Mexa Wrestling or IWRG.) Maybe the media companies listed on the poster are also donating theri ad-revenue from the show; I don’t understand why they’d be included otherwise. Everyone would be better slowing down and consideirng the actions before they make them.

Mas Lucha oddly had no results and didn’t stream this live. Internetv/AYM streamed for the first time since the start of pandemic. This show wasn’t listed as a Premium show but perhaps that changed. Mas Lucha was streaming the Lucha Libre Real show, where Dark Scoria took Drako’s hair, and it appears they consider results of shows as part of the paid package. But, I have no idea if this was a premium show (and there’s obviously more important things going on this weekend.)
Prior to the show, IWRG held a press conference to announce a tournament for the vacant lightweight championship. The title hasn’t been seen since Pantera I held in 2018. Participants announced were Puma de Oro, Redimido, Sobredosis, Baby Xtreme, Mexica, Chicanito, Mr. Puma, Atomic Star, Dick Angel 3G, Legendario. That’s ten names. Marco Moreno, in charge of IWRG, says other people may still be added and encouraged interested wrestlers to contact the promotion via social media.
It’s possible the Ciudad Juarez/915 656 wrestlers were originally scheduled to participate. Principe Aereo said he hoped to be in this tournament last week. He probably would’ve been involved.
Ovaciones has recaps of the CMLL shows on Televisa and AMX. TV recaps are the standard in the US, but I can not recall this ever happening on a major Mexico media outlet; I can’t even find fans who talk about the Televisa show most weeks. They do not appear to be covering the Ticketmaster shows, at least this month, so this is their only CMLL coverage. The Televisa show is the all the show on CMLL’s YouTube, airing on an eight-day delay. You may want to skip the Televisa one if you’re dedicated to avoiding spoilers and following on YouTube. The AMX show is already up on my Google Drive.
Of note on those shows, Hijo del Villano III is back. CMLL’s restart on Televisa in September included a Tiger/V3 versus Flyer/Atlantis feud. The rudo team won on the Televisa episodes airing September 12 and 19th, challenging for the Mexican National Tag Team Championship after the second victory. Tiger and Hijo del Villano III did the CMLL virtual media tour on that following Wednesday, specifically talking about how the title match would air on Televisa on the 26th. No title match aired and CMLL said nothing about the situation. Tiger, Flyer, and Atlantis Jr. all have appeared in matches the last month, with Hijo del Villano III missing. There are any number of reasons, medical and otherwise, that could’ve caused CMLL to pull Hijo del Villano III and the title match. Hijo del Villano III disappearing right around the time where CMLL announced four people were missing Aniversario due to positive COVID tests made the situation greatly concerning; CMLL is only announcing positive test results when it affects an announced match on TicketmasterLive, and it is unlikely all the positive cases are public. It’s heartening to see Hijo del Villano III back whatever the situation.
It’s also totally unclear if the Hijo del Villano match is even recent footage: recent CMLL TV has included La Infernal (out for non-COVID medical reasons) and Bandido (pulled himself off shows due to health), so the age of these matches is a complete unknown. It is conceivable possible to see what people are wearing at ringside to try to figure out which matches belong to which tapings – I’ve used that to identify tapings for Lucha Underground and other promotions – but it’s hard to pinpoint each taping to a specific date.
A couple of nuggets from this week’s Box Y Lucha
- A column says the La Rosa who held the Mexican Women’s Tag Team Championship – the last champion team prior to Jarochita & Lluvia – was actually the luchadora now known as Super Estrella, the aunt of the current La Magnifica. (The piece implies there have were multiple La Rosas; there is another woman who also went by the spelling Larrosa who is credited as champion.) I guess she’s the La Rosa in this match that just went up.
- Chavo Lutteroth (the older of the two Lutteroths now in control of CMLL) does not have a cell phone, does not know how to get on the internet. I think everyone would assume that CMLL would be the one major wrestling company in the world where the highest person in charge doesn’t use the internet, but confirmation is good.
AAA brought four garbage collectors from a viral video to their AutoLuchas show on Saturday. They got attention for doing wrestling spots around a wrestling spot, and they surprised the crowd by doing a few spots actually in the ring. There is a video of the whole thing. Aerostar, who’s mask was used in the initial video, appeared even though he is currently in a neck brace.
Pagano ended up bloody in his match Sunday with Chessman. That feud was intended for TripleMania and continues on without a date.

Caristico was doing an Instagram Live a few days ago. Caristico thought he was done with the Instagram Live and unmasked. Caristico still had the stream running. R de Rudo has a story on it here; you can find the unobscured picture without too much effort. I feel like I’ve seen his face unmasked by rudo so many times that this was more funny than scandalous.
Puma King and frequent AEW Dark wrestler Fuego del Sol will appear on the 11/01 GALLI show. Puma King has not wrestled since the start of the pandemic. I wonder how busy Fuego del Sol and others who’ve been on AEW Dark will be if/when wrestling picks up.
GCW announced Aeroboy versus Gringo Loco for their 11/08 show in New Jersey.
Alex Guajardo, who is both a nurse and a luchador in Queretaro, believes the worst of the coronavirus crisis is coming in December. He does not anticipate seeing fans back in arenas until mid-2021. He did contract COVID. He’s no longer positive but he still is feeling lung damage.

I just want to clarify how that article was written on Chavo Lutteroth from Box Y Luchas, it’s worded as “THEY don’t know how to use the electronic platforms (ie internet, digital platforms, social media) and don’t care to learn how; it’s like those old people that don’t know how to use a cell phone and don’t want to learn how to use one. ”
So he might know how to use a cell phone, or maybe not. But Social media and/or any other digital platforms is something CMLL Management don’t care to use. Basically, it’s a shame they’re stuck in their old ways, what with having shows on Networks, being part of the oldest family in wrestling, and, of course, having Arena Mexico (the temple of Lucha Libre).
