Atlantis Jr. & Flyer advance to the tag title final, AAA in Cancun (with an adjusted main event) tonight

the dive is good but thought the dropkick was even better

5:53. Straight falls.

Star Jr. & Cometa were the working hard team that didn’t get enough time in this one. Their match with Atlantis & Flyer was the best but it didn’t last long. Flyer had a poor night. There’s a big drop off in both the Atlantis & Flyer and Templario & Hijo del Villano III teams. These titles don’t mean much and still someone’s getting one who’s not ready for it. Soberano & Titan was fun but not their best.

CMLL promos: Flyer & Atlantis and Titan,

Pressroom interviews: Caristico & Valiente, Atlantis & Flyer, and Titan.

CMLL has a Sangre Chicana promo talking about his career and a second part of the Felino/Cavernario sit down,

AAA is on Twitch tonight at 7 pm CT, which is probably about an hour from when this is posted. It says 20:00 on the poster, but they’re coming from Cancun. It’s in the one state in Mexico on Eastern Time, so that’s an hour earlier for everyone..

The card is going to change if AAA’s vignettes are to be believed. AAA posted a second phone conversation with Vampiro yesterday. He talked to Blue Demon earlier in the week. This one is with Laredo Kid & Drago, who he urges to work with Demon to fight with Los Ingobernables instead of giving him the easy win that Konnan’s booked for his friends. Drago’s not thrilled with the idea given his recent problems with Demon but goes along with it. (Something tells me this is not the first time Drago’s had a conversation with a person in charge that’s ended “it’s fine – I don’t like it, but it’s fine.” He’s a very relatable dragon.) The issue is tonight’s card actually has Demon & Laredo teaming with Psycho Clown. AAA’s made an effort to get these vigenttes up before the show and they never issue an updated lineup even when they know it’s wrong, so I’d guess the card is changing.

Perhaps that moves Psycho in to team with Fenix & Penta against the OGTs, which should be a lot of fun. Los Jinetes del Aire face Los Mercenarios in a non-title match, two weeks before they actually have a title match. That should be great. The Parks versus Carta & Cota should be a wild brawl. There’s a lot of the usual early names in the first couple of matches, though no real direction since the Lady Maravilla & Big Mami story has seemed to come to an end.

AEW says Kenny Omega will be out for 1-2 weeks. That puts him in danger of missing Rey de Reyes. Omega would’ve probably already canceled if it was a random indie booking. It would serve AAA well to have a backup plan and make it clear tonight. That doesn’t seem like AAA though so anything can happen.

Karis La Momia Jr. was slightly hurt on a dive, which was enough for a video. The real point here is he’s wearing half La Parka gear, not the full costume, but still being called Karis. No one’s quite figured out what they’re doing there either. I think the local promoters want a La Parka Jr., AAA does not want to do it yet, and Karis is clearly not ready to take over the role in any serious way.

Tonight is the final night before Daylight Savings Time starts in the US. It does not start in Mexico until April. If you move your clocks forward tomorrow, every stream from Mexico is going to air an hour later.

Bandido, Taurus & Puma King are eliminated from wXw’s 16 Karat tournament in Germany. The Bandido/Mike Bailey quarterfinal match on Saturday night is said to be the best match of this year’s tournament so far and one of the best matches in the history of the tournament. Laredo Kid was announced for the wXw Catch Gran Prix running from September 23 to the 27th.

Aerostar says rumors of him leaving AAA are just social media speculation. This is correct. They are social media speculation from Aerostar’s own Twitter account. He wants the attention.

Rossy Moreno says her career-ending injury is a cervical one requiring surgery. She’d say deal with it for many years but it got to the point where she could no longer continue. The surgery to fix it is going to be a little risky. She still hopes to be involved in wrestling.

The Ciudad Juarez wrestling Hall of Fame will honor a new group on 03/20. This article mentioned Elena Urbina, El Legendario, El Marques, Dorado Hernandez, Indio Medina, and el Impostor. A Ramon Galicia Chavez will also be recognized.

03/28 The Crash in Tijuana

Count me in as a person unfamiliar with the Filips. They’re Australian wrestlers who’ve come to the US a few times, most notable for Bar Wrestling. Worth noting that AAW just canceled Adam Brooks of the show the week prior due to visa issues. Mexico is different.

03/28 RIOT (“Trusa”) in Monterrey’s Arena LLF

That’s the first time the former partners turned enemies are facing off in Monterrey.

LuchaWorld has a new episode of their podcast.

There’s a Mexico State luchador licensing exam on 04/18.

Luchadora Black Fury says her goal is to make it to CMLL.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 03/10/2020 Arena México
1) Bengala & Leono vs Apocalipsis & Inquisidor
2) Arkalis, Magnus, Robin vs Akuma, El Coyote, Espanto Jr.
3) Drone, Pegasso, Stigma vs Cancerbero, Okumura, Raziel
4) Blue Panther Jr. vs Dark Magic [lightning]
5) Kráneo, Star Jr., Volcano vs Shocker, Terrible, Vangellys
6) Ángel de Oro, Niebla Roja, Valiente vs Ephesto, Gran Guerrero, Mephisto

One of the least appealing CMLL lineups in some time. Every match has at least two people I never want to see in them. That’s harsh on Blue Panther but Dark Magic counts for two. That main event might be good if they worked at it but it’s ending with Gran Guerrero fouling Valiente so they won’t.

IWRG (THU) 03/12/2020 Arena Naucalpan
1) Baby Star & Imperial Jr. vs Biosferia & Rock Power
2) Baby Extreme, El Mimo, Príncipe Aéreo vs Ave Rex, Hip Hop Man, Mosca
3) Puma de Oro vs Lunatik Xtreme
4) Ayako Hamada, Lolita, Perla Lagunera vs Diosa Quetzal, Hahastary, Lady Cat
5) Chicano, Estrella Divina, Mamba vs Demonio Infernal, Fresero Jr., Shun Skywalker

No hair match and nothing important going on here, so the second week is going to be the true test of this concept.

CMLL (FRI) 03/13/2020 Arena México
1) Diamond & Principe Daniel vs Cholo & Difunto
2) Princesa Sugehit, Silueta, Stephanie Vaquer vs Amapola, La Infernal, La Metálica
3) Audaz, Rey Cometa, Soberano Jr. vs Hechicero, Luciferno, Rey Bucanero
4) Titán vs Pólvora [lightning]
5) Atlantis Jr. & Flyer vs Hijo del Villano III & Templario [MEX TAG, final]
tournament final for vacant titles
6) Carístico, Cavernario, Diamante Azul vs Felino, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. [Relevos Increíbles]

Felino & Cavernario meet one more time before their hair match. CMLL still hasn’t shown their their hand on what happens with them after.

Titan beating Soberano and then losing to Polovra is very possible.

Silueta and Stephanie Vaquer don’t see many Friday night appearances. There’s been no build to that Dalys/Sugehit title match.

Difunto and Principe Daniel have made brief trips from Guadalajara to Arena Mexico in the past, though also not on Friday nights. Principe Daniel is notably Cavernario’s brother.
