No streaming and the lights are turned off in all the photos, but it appears the new concept drew well. They had round tables instead of the usual ringside seats as part of creating the bar + wrestling atmosphere. (They didn’t go with no seats like Bar Wrestling.) No next date announced for Thursday wrestling

IWRG’s new lucha libre classes for women start on Wednesday, running from 3:30 to 5:30. Ayako Hamada & Diosa Quetzal are teaching them. They cost either 65 pesos a week or 200 a month. $10 for a month lucha libre training with Hamada seems like a good deal.

Today’s CMLL show is the bridge show between two tournament finals. Caristico & Forastero won the incredible pairs tournament last week, Templario & Hijo del Villano III will be in the final next week, and tonight is about finding who they face. Atlantis Jr. & Flyer are the favorites, based on CMLL trying to get Villano3/Atlantis matches at every turn. Audaz & Templario used to be the same, but CMLL seems to have gone cold on Audaz. They’ve similar been frigid with Star Jr., so his team with Rey Cometa doesn’t seem to have much of a chance. Esfinge hasn’t even been in Arena Mexico much since FantasticaMania time, so he’s probably just happy to be included. (Esfinge’s last tag title win was with Triton and his next tag title win might also be with Triton the way things are going.) A rudo/rudo final is unlikely.

The best match of the night will be Titan versus Soberano in the lightning match, unless something strange happens. It does not appear CMLL tells their wrestlers the matches a week ahead of time because those two guys teamed last week with no hint they’d be fighting a week later. Their two matches late last year were great and they’ll make the most out of ten minutes.

It’d be nice if some of these other matches were cut to give them more time, but so it goes. The mins opener the show, the Panthers and Gardniea are in the second, and the main event is previously of the H2L trios title match. Cavernario steps in for Gran Guerrero in that one, likely because Felino will get involved in some way again.

The show starts at 8:30 pm CT. It’s the last one to start at that time for a week. Marca will stream it and I will as well.

Playing off the moment, CMLL is offering photos with Kemonito tonight before the show.

Vangellys & Polvora and Raziel & Cancerbero talk about their chances. It’s going to be very sad when Raziel & Cancerbero, who’ve been doing 2v2 matches for roughly 1,000 years, still lose in the first round.

CMLL has a sit-down interview with Scorpio Jr. about his main event of the 1999 Homenaje a Dos Leyendas. This is good but someone is now overproducing these with weird audio effects just to do something.

Irma Aguilar, who was half of the first women’s national tag team champions with her mother Irma Gonzalez, is thrilled that CMLL is bringing back the belts. She hopes it’ll give more opportunities to luchadoras and let the fans pick new favorites.

Tr3s Caidas also has a show tonight with Laredo Kid vs Rey Horus vs Extreme Tiger vs Black Destiny and Arez vs Mirage. This may turn up on the Tijuana fancams.

AAA on Saturday starts at 7 pm CT, NOT 8 pm. The issue is Cancun is an Eastern Time zone city, a rare AAA stop that’s outside of the Central Time Zone.

AAA posted a Kenny Omega promo for his title match with Laredo Kid. The concept is Omega is upset Laredo Kid went to be a star on Exatlon rather than coming to AEW and getting Kenny’s bad Lorenzo Kid idea, so he’s coming for revenge.

One month ago, Vampiro posted a video on Facebook calling for a coup in AAA by the wrestlers to get Konnan out of power. He then deleted it the next day. (Nothing goes away on the internet.) It came off as an in-cannon promo, it just wasn’t clear if Vampiro was shooting his own angle or AAA having him do something. Whichever one it started as, AAA’s on-board now. They posted a video yesterday of a Vampiro & Blue Demon phone conversation, with Vampiro & Demon bad-mouthing how AAA has Demon teaming with tecnicos when he really wants to fight Drago. (He’s teaming with Laredo & Psycho tomorrow.) Demon says he’ll be professional but the only partner he trust is his friend the hammer. It’s strange that AAA’s weird booking is now a storyline point about Konnan being out of control. If you like Vampiro on your AAA shows, it comes off like you’ll be getting more Vampiro soon.

This also is an explanation of why Konnan ‘needed’ to be allied with Los Ingobernables, with the idea that he’s using his power in AAA to help them and Vampiro’s going to be the one to put a stop to it. It’s not a great story and the fact that it was revealed on a Twitter video post (which may have aired on TV already) and hasn’t affected the live shows at all suggests it’s a barely relevant reason. But it is a reason.

AAA & Space have a new one of their periodic documentaries, this one focusing on the women of the promotion. The first eight minutes are on AAA’s channel, the rest is on Space’s channel. The interviews seem to be from around the AAA show in New York, so there’s more Tessa Blanchard than you may be expecting. It also reminded me that Faby Apache has not been on AAA TV this year and isn’t on the upcoming shows, though she’s still on the AAA spot show (including the one tonight in Neza.) AAA has a bi roster.

03/28 The Crash in Tijuana

I was watching Dinamico vs Baby Extreme last night; Dinamico is very good right now.

03/28 RIOT (“Trusa”) in Monterrey’s Arena LLF

Latigo is off the show to work AAA instead; RIOT says Latigo didn’t know he was booked on AAA’s show in Torreon until the poster came out. That seems to be a common thing for AAA, where many of the wrestlers do not know if they’re working TV ahead of the general public. Daga being advertised for AAA shows he’s booked with Impact would make sense if AAA just isn’t asking him his dates ahead of time. (Though, if Konnan is still working with Impact, shouldn’t he know those dates himself?)

Super Anthar unmasked Murcielago Negro Jr. in Cuernavaca on Sunday. Murcielago Negro Jr is José Luis Alanís Miranda, 48 years, 30 years a wrestler, originally from Cuernavaca.

Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. got a beer thrown in his face from a short distance away at a show in Torreon on Sunday. Don’t do that.

LuchaWorld has the latest news update.

There’s a new lucha libre art exhibit in Guadalajara.

5) Vaquero Jr. vs Bobby Black [hair]

There are more Sunday Guadalajara apuesta matches than there seem to be in Arena Mexico but that’s not why I’m posting this one. The tournament is for a shot at the local trios titles, which have been held by NGD since 2016 and haven’t been defended since they moved to the main roster. The safe guess was they’d eventually quietly vacant them, but apparently they’re coming back for a defense. There’s no point to NGD having the belts but it’s hard to imagine them losing to any of the teams in this tournament when they barely lose to the Mexico City guys.

CMLL (MON) 03/09/2020 Arena Puebla
1) Arkalis, Halcón Suriano Jr., King Jaguar vs Black Tiger, El Coyote, Inquisidor
2) Stigma vs Okumura [lightning]
3) Audaz, Flyer, Kráneo vs Hechicero, Shocker, Vangellys
4) Ángel de Oro, Niebla Roja, Titán vs Felino, Negro Casas, Templario
5) Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero

The highly anticipated (???) Stigma/Okumura match is happening. Also the NGD/Guerreros rematch. Maybe the fourth match is a rematch.
