Caristico (injury) replaced Niebla Roja earlier in the day. Team Cavernario took 2/3, the last when Volador fouled Caristico.

This looked like a boring show. It’s not uncommon for CMLL but it still is strange that they appear to be switching here from the match that will headline their second biggest show (Felino/Cavernario) to a random Volador match. Except it’s not even totally random since they’ll be teaming and likely winning on Friday.

Tonight’s CMLL stream doesn’t look a lot better. Caristico (replacing Niebla Roja) teams with Angel de Oro & Atlanis this time against Euforia, Felino and Ultimo Guerrero. Last week was the singles match, so it’s likely nothing is going on with this main event. Kraneo & Volcano team with Stuka Jr. against Hechicero, Luciferno, and Vangellys, giving the Panthers a break. Rey Cometa faces Universo 2000 Jr. in the lightning match. Diamond faces Misterioso & Sagrado again in the tercera. Sonic is in the opener. So is Yago, who hasn’t been on a stream since December. The show airs at 7:30 pm on CMLL’s YouTube.

Tijuana’s Tr3s Caidas, who hasn’t run a show since their July Auditorio de Tijuana show, will return on March 6th in Arena Big Punch. The main event is Laredo Kid & Rey Horus vs Jonathan & Tony Casanova.

A silly story I’ve been steadfastly ignoring to this point happened over the weekend in Pachuca. A man appeared at a government event passing himself off as the grandson of El Santo at an event intended to honor El Santo. That man is not actually related to Santo and El Hijo del Santo was upset on Twitter about it. La Planchitas mentioned the fake Santo kid also “performs” as Dr. Plata and now the local government has issued a statement apologizing.

In other social media things, Daga alerted Laredo Kid to the fact that he’s owed a Cruiserweight Championship after the AAA in New York show and Laredo Kid had no problem with it, pointing out he already beat Daga once with a video. (Daga was amused that Laredo Kid had video of this handy..) Daga seems more into booking matches for himself than AAA at this point, but he did set up his last title match with a Twitter bit so maybe this match might turn up soon.

03/13 AAA/MLW/EMW in Tijuana

Those six men are listed across the top of the main poster, which suggests that poster is actually visually listing the scheduled matches, as has been done with other posts. It can’t be complete because there are people mentioned as appearing (Poder del Norte, LA Park Jr.) who are not pictured, but it looks like a decent guide. It suggests a LA Park vs Psycho Clown main event though again it only suggests that. Those two have never had a 1v1 match.

Hijo de Canis Lupus vs Dragon Bane’s match from NOAH on Sunday is up on YouTube. They’re again mostly facing each other in singles matches on a short tour in Japan, with one tag match with other partners.

+LuchaTV has this week’s En+carados podcast. I didn’t totally understand it, but it appears referee Chiquilin is in trouble for participating in the bit where Jose Manuel Guillen won the Lucha Libre Vanguardia 4×4 (24/7) Championship. There’s a lot of talk about the commission, then it’s said it’s not a commission issue, so I’m not sure. It did lead to a long discussion about the more serious issues Mexico State lucha libre commission turns a blind eye towards and the absurdity of them being involved in this one.

CMLL (SUN) 02/23/2020 Arena México

2) La Jarochita, Skadi, Stephanie Vaquer vs La Infernal, Metálica, Tiffany

6) Volador Jr. vs Negro Casas

This Publimetro preview of tonight’s show had CMLL’s listing of this week’s lineups. It includes a fake Drone/Tiger match; there’s often fake matches in early released lineups when CMLL’s setting up a main event instead. I think I’d rather see Drone/Tiger than another Volador/Casas match. (That lineup also has someone named “Steffany Baker” wrestling in the segunda.)

IWRG (SUN) 02/23/2020 Arena Naucalpan
1) Águila Oriental Jr. & Chicanito vs Canival King & Voltrex
2) Lolita & Miss Delicious vs Lilith Dark & Ludark Shaitan

6) Puma King, Relámpago, Shun Skywalker vs Demonio Infernal, Fuerza Guerrera NG, Súper Nova

Shun & Super Nova meet in the main event after going to a draw, so perhaps that’s going somewhere.

MexaWrestling (SAT) 03/07/2020 Arena Femenil, Monterrey, Nuevo León
1) Oro Negro vs MadnessBlack Spider Jr.
2) Lady Puma vs Baby LoveHija De Gatubela
3) Puma de Oro vs Babe FoxPríncipe AéreoCharro NegroDulce Gardenia
4) Hijo Del Espectro Jr. vs Metaleón
5) Corazón de Barrio & El Divo vs Golden Boy & Símbolo
6) Fly Star & Lady Flammer vs Perla Lagunera & Toxin
7) Baby Xtreme vs Mecha Wolf

The card looks good but it’s still strange to see MexaWrestling traveling to Monterrey; it doesn’t feel like they’ve built such a name that it’s going to mean a lot outside of Neza. It’s a group called Sector Lucha Libre selling the tickets, so maybe they’re just borrowing the name and some of the talent.
