This show was fine if not really special. The main event went better with Bandido even with a big spot with Guerrero going wrong again. They don’t seem as good a match as student/trainer my suggest. Newspaper reports had the turnout as “close to 10,000”.

ESPN Mexico interviewed a doctor, who said Mr. Niebla was too young to die from a blood infection unless there was a pre-existing condition. He speculates Niebla was diabetic since it would’ve lowered the immune system. Alcohol doesn’t come up. His funeral was Wednesday.

The many other shows took place, though almost never exactly as planned. Pagano did make all four matches he was scheduled for, though that required moving some of the matches to earlier in the night. His match in Naucalpan went third from the top, with Aerostar defeating Monster Clown as the main event. That building looked pretty full. Pagano & Demus won the main event in Arena Lopez Mateos.

Sadik Maiden did get her head shaved before her match with Sadika, then was unable to finish the match due to injury. Sadik Maiden’s side of the story is MexaWrestling didn’t pay her for the hair match so she wasn’t required to get her hair cut. MexaWrestling has been silent about the situation, though the Mexico State commission statement said they had talked to MexaWrestling and didn’t put any blame on them.

Meanwhile, in Arena Neza, Gallego & Dr. Cerbero lost a hair match to Cerebro Negro & Dr. Cerebro. Los Diabolicos have towels over their heads in the photo +Lucha posted, but clearly still have their hair. The Sadik Maiden situation blew up when she showed up the next day (at Zona 23) still with hair, so we’ll see if the same thing happens here if they still have hair.

Ultimo Gladiador announced that he would be retiring from lucha libre soon. Retirement announcements tend to mean nothing, but his name has turned up rarely this year, with just two matches since July.

Mr. Aguila wore Mr. Niebla styled facepaint for his match in Arena Neza. Video is up for that show but they had some streaming issues; +LuchaTV had intros for the women’s match and then it jumped ahead to the next match.

Mexico City’s Pepsi Center WTC announced AAA will return on 01/25 for their first taping of the year. This is the same location AAA ran last year (and the failed AAA/ELITE/IMPACT combined tournament ran.) Tickets go on sale tomorrow and run between 221 and 1184 pesos including fees. The poster includes Rush, Blue Demon, Dr. Wagner, Penta, Fenix, Daga and Taya among the usual AAA names, though the people on the posters aren’t always accurate.

The poster does list all the same networks and streaming as last year, which seems like a good sign. The Twitch deal seems like it’s a year by year thing. The Azteca deal was reported as being a two-year deal and 2020 will be year two. There are no details about the Space or Multimedios deal, though the Multimedios one seems tied in with TripleMania Regia and that one went well.

UK’s RevPro announced LA Park for its 02/14 London show. They re-announced him with a correct picture (and not one of La Parka) a couple of hours later.

Segunda Caida reviews Latigo vs Atomic Star.

Morelos luchador Cherokee Rockstar was 2019 was not his year. A promoter in Cuautla quit promoting, he suffered a knee injury and he lost an apuesta match for the first time.
