13:04. Kross beat Mack (sub for Cage.) Rudos beat up tecnicos until Sin Cara made the save. He proclaimed a friendship with Pagano and said he’d be back in AAA in 2020.
6) Fénix & Pentagón Jr. © b Australian Suicide & Rey Horus and Hijo Del Vikingo & Myzteziz Jr. [AAA TAG (posted by Lucha Libre AAA (Twitch))
four defense, one not on TV. Rey Horus debuted (replacing Angelico) and Myzteziz returned from Exatlon (which was written on his gear.) Factor Animo on Suicide for the win.
7) Big Mami b Lady Maravilla [hair (posted by Lucha Libre AAA (Twitch))
16:30. Seconds were Octagoncito & Villano III Jr., who interfered often. Hijo del Tirantes and Keyra also helped Maravilla. Nino Hamburguesa even the odds, rejecting Maravilla (who tried to attack him first) and Mami landed the splash for the win. Mami & Hamburgesa reunited as a team after. Nino Hamburgesa brought Strippers Big in to help celebrate.
8) Blue Demon Jr., Rey Escorpión, Rush Toro Blanco b Dr. Wagner Jr., Drago, Psycho Clown  (posted by Lucha Libre AAA (Twitch))
18:28. LA Park & Killer Kross interfered in front of the referee to help put Psycho Clown thru a table. Escorpion replaced Bestia del Ring (not present.) Rudos unmasked Drago & Demon after the match, then declared a new Faccion Ingobernable of LA Park, Rush, Kross, Konnan and Bestia.

A strong show to end the year. Big Mami & Lady Maravilla was a perfect end to that story, with Mami having a great performance and the usual AAA storytelling tropes of evil referees and massive interference working totally in the match’s favor. I don’t know that people who dip in and out of AAA will appreciate it as much as people who watch all the shows, but it was outstanding for what had led up to this point. The tag title match was strong, with Myzteziz looking like he had no time off. Horus did well but his debut here was kind of lost in the midst of everything else going on. The lumberjack match overachieved, making use of having nearly two dozen people to do a big spot onto everyone. The two regular openers were as advertised. You can skip the locals opener. The TLC match wasn’t strong but the Sin Cara debut came off as a genuine surprise. This show is worth the $5 VOD fee easy.

The Ingobernables stuff doesn’t interest – it’s hard to believe any of this is going anywhere, that it won’t be like MAD and the other factions Kross has been thrown into it. The tease of Demon & Wagner ending up being partners after being rivals isn’t exciting either. I’ll take in exchange for the rest here.

Sin Cara came in with the name, the look, and the logo. (I’d be able to tell you if it was the same music if I could remember what music he was using.) There’s an obvious trademark issue there – WWE has the trademark, CMLL filed for it but it didn’t get approved – and the whole thing was begging for Sin Cara to do a “you knew me as Sin Cara, but now I’m [???]” speech. That may still be coming but he’s Sin Cara for now.

Rey Horus is done with the Crash and should be appearing here often. What that means isn’t clear; there’s a lot of people appearing here often.

No next show was announced. I believe it’s on January 18th, probably in Mexico City, which means AAA will likely drop a poster this upcoming week.

CMLL (SAT) 12/14/2019 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Fantasy & Último Dragóncito b Pequeño Universo 2000 & Pequeño Violencia
2) Arkalis, Magnus, Oro Jr. b El Coyote, Grako, Inquisidor
tecnicos took 1/3
3) Dalys, La Metálica, Reyna Isis b Avispa Dorada, Sanely, Skadi
Avispa Dorada replaced Lluvia. Rudas took 1/3.
4) Hechicero, Rey Bucanero, Vangellys b Audaz, Kráneo, Volcano
rudos took 1/3
5) Ángel de Oro, Niebla Roja, Valiente b Ephesto, Felino, Mephisto
tecnicos took 2/3
6) Cuatrero © b Carístico [CMLL MIDDLE]
Cuatrero took 1/3, the last using the ropes. 4th defense.

There are promos by Caristico and Cuatrero about that finish. Caristico losing via cheating explains why Caristico was losing at all.

CMLL (SUN) 12/15/2019 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Mercurio & Pierrothito b Acero & Kaligua
Mercurio actually appeared! Rudos took 1/3.
2) Apocalipsis, Arkalis, Eléctrico vs Cholo, Halcón Suriano Jr., Leono [Relevos Increíbles]
Straight falls, Halcon Suriano pinning Electrico in both falls to set up a lightweight title match.
3) Misterioso, Okumura, Sagrado b Drone, Fuego, Oro Jr.
4) Templario b Rey Cometa [lightning]
5) Kráneo, Soberano Jr., Titán b Hijo del Villano III, Luciferno, Mephisto
tecnicos took 2/3
6) Carístico, Diamante Azul, Volador Jr. b Negro Casas, Shocker, Terrible
tecnicos took 1/3

Electrico & Halcon Suriano Jr. talked up their match, which seems like a fun idea. Templario did a promo about his second singles win of the weekend.

Alberto Munoz passed away Saturday. He was a lightweight, welterweight and middleweight national champion and world welterweight champion. Munoz later worked as White Man (the opposite of better known Black Man), but he had his biggest success as Alberto Munoz. I believe he was part of the Guadalajara commission and was a local legend; the photo we have for him on the luchawiki is when he was honored at a big 2009 show. DJ Spectro wrote a bio of him in 2015 over four Facebook posts (one, two, three, four). This is a strange one for me. Munoz is a name from the past who hasn’t been relevant for many years, unless you’re a weirdo going thru 1960s results and you’ve been reading about him as a rising star with a bright future. I’m not to 1973, where Munoz suffers an injury that nearly ends his career and definitely ends his only world title reign. He came back and eventually took on the White Man gimmick, but the stuff I’ve been reading this year makes me feel like he had a chance to be a top star and things just didn’t work out.

Diamante is, improbably, Dragon Gate Open the Triangle Gate champion. He even got the pin, defeating Strong Machine G to win the titles along with HYO and Takashi Yoshida. This 12/15 show is likely the end of the tour for Jimmy & Diamante but obviously at least Diamante is going back.

Hijo de Canis Lupus & Dragon Bane are headed back to NOAH in February as part of their Junior tag league. There’s a mystery team left in that tournament which NOAH fans were hoping would be the IWRG brothers after their debut, but that tournament is also happening in January. I don’t know.

Dragon Lee got married today, which meant Rush & Bandido missed the TV. ROH did air a promo with Rush introducing Kenny King and Dragon Lee as members of Faccion Ingobernable. He was wearing the same jersey as in AAA but it appears they’re meant to be separate groups. Dragon Lee is still Dragon Lee and that would been the time to change it, so I suppose they’re not changing it. ROH announced Rush would get his rematch against PCO for the main title on 01/11 in Atlanta, which seems fairly quick.

Rey Horus lost to Flip Gordon in his Ring of Honor debut. He did well and it sounded like he’ll be back. Flamita didn’t appear; they showed a video package instead.

Cuervo de Puerto Rico did wrestle in Puerto Rico this past week. That’s his return since being hurt in Mexico last year.

Fuerza Guerrera introduced “Fuerza New Generacion” this weekend. This appears to be Impossible.

Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 12/20/2019 Arena México
1) Shockercito & Último Dragóncito vs Mercurio & Pierrothito
2) Drone, Fuego, Stigma vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus
3) Esfinge, Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa vs Hechicero, Pólvora, Vangellys
4) Audaz vs Templario [lightning]
5) Ángel de Oro, Titán, Valiente vs Cavernario, Felino, Negro Casas
6) Carístico, El Bandido, Volador Jr. vs Cuatrero, Forastero, Gilbert el Boricua

Bandido is scheduled at PWG, so he won’t be here. Gilbert being back is slightly surprising. Audaz & Templario finally have that singles match, though one feels much ahead of the other now.
