This fits the mold of the last few TV tapings, nothing bad but few things that stand out as good either. Match 2 was good here, which happened to be a match just to be a match. AAA’s gone story heavy to build up both Guerra de Titanes and TripleMania Regia, which sacrifices match quality a bit. It’s worth it if people care about the matches in the end, though some of the bits feel like they’re just happening every taping just because they’ve only got a limited amount of ways to build up matches.

Myzteziz didn’t end up on either show this weekend. Not sure if it was the injury or Azteca still needed him. I suspect he’ll be back in time for Guerra de Titanes.

Order of escape: Wagner & Demon (simultaneous), Psycho Clown, Chessman, Texano & Escorpion (simultaneous), and finally Aerostar leaving Monster Clown behind. Escorpion came back to thwart an Aerostar escape with Psycho Clown running him off. Psycho Clown & Murder Clown stood with Monster Clown as he unmasked. Monster Clown is Rafael Ramirez of Tepeji del Rio, Hidalgo, 43 years old, 23 years a wrestler.

AAA announced this show will air on Multimedios and AAA’s YouTube page next week. Multimedios usually airs AAA on Sunday afternoons, with the AAA shows going up on YouTube around 8 pm CT. AAA seemed to be doing both the normal TV production and having the Multimedios announcers also there live – they usually do a different audio track dub later on. I suppose that means there might be two different versions of this show going up next week. I think it would’ve been more productive if AAA announced this all earlier, but perhaps they couldn’t? It is tiring to try to figure out explanations for a promotion who are capable of explaining themselves.

Attendance looked good in the photos. It was short of the 15,000 they were originally hoping for, but I’d guess they did clear 10,000. The easiest way of telling if this was a success is if they do come back and do it again next year (and if it is still in the baseball stadium, not shrunk down like the Colombia show.)

Can you really be Monster Clown if you’re an unmasked guy? Facepaint is an option but it doesn’t seem monstrous enough. Monster Clown being announced as 43 seemed surprising young. He’s been Monster Clown for a decade, but he was “Alliens” (based on a movie!) prior back to 2004; it feels like he’s been around forever. He got into AAA young and moves a bit like an older guy.

I caught the top 3 from a Facebook feed. I don’t feel totally qualified to talk definitively about the matches – it’s far enough away that I saw Konnan and thought it was La Mascara. (To be fair, I also had the sound off at that moment and figured it out later when he started to talk.) What I did see seemed like a super show in the atmosphere but maybe not any standout matches. Omega/Dragon seemed good but not at the level of Omega/Fenix. The crowd was into Omega and so it may come across stronger on TV. No next challenger was hinted at and nothing more with Dragon Lee was set up on this show; it’s possible Dragon Lee could show up in AAA again, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if this was it.

The Rush/LA Park stuff is going to be controversial. Fans want to see LA Park versus Rush, and teaming them together takes away that possibility. It’s always possible it’s a misdirection to set up them splitting again before TripleMania, but it comes off as if AAA can’t do that apuesta match and wants their fans to think differently. Inserting Konnan into the Los Ingobernables was set up back in Morelia when Konnan made the speech about destroying AAA which seemed disconnected to anything going on in the promotion. (Maybe one day the Villano III Jr/Blue Demon thing will be followed up on too?) Still, the idea is this LA Park/Rush Los Ingobernables alliance – or whatever they can call it – taking on AAA is diluted by including Konnan, who’s been in the same role as going against AAA for years and years. Konnan doesn’t add much value to Rush & LA Park and it feels too much like a recycled bit when he’s involved. I’m guessing Konnan is saving his face turn for the forever delayed retirement tour – and they’ve been teasing the Vampiro/Konnan match for nearly as long – but they could’ve established LA Park & Rush as true outsiders if they rejected Konnan and attacked him too. Instead, the guy who’s been in AAA for more years than anyone active on-screen wrestler is the spokesman for the outsiders.

(Speaking of: AAA was in Monterrey, which would’ve been a great time for an update on La Parka or a clip of him sending a message from the hospital. No news seems like bad news as long as he’s still in that Monterrey hospital.)

We should also remember this is LA Park and Rush that we’re talking about here. The chances one or both will be with the same company by next TripleMania is always up in the air (and subject to them quitting and coming back multiple times.) AAA got them on this show because they had a TripleMania Regia level gate to invest. Rush is back on TripleMania Regia – maybe Blue Demon will be both a member of La Rebelion and Los Ingobernables? – but who knows when we’ll see LA Park again. If the AAA group does continue, it does mean there are Rush led groups in that promotion, in Nacion Lucha Libre (w/La Mascara), and probably one coming soon in ROH, and they are all meant to be different groups apparently.

No Bandido on the show. My impression is that it was an issue separate from the CMLL debut but don’t expect him back here any time soon. No idea why Flamita didn’t make the show; he is still listed as appearing Wednesday on Lucha Capital. It is strange to me that AAA couldn’t find Baby Xtreme or someone else they’ve used from northern Mexico to fill out the Copa TripleMania Regia – I don’t know if that means I missed a name (a definite possibility) or if something happened where Bestia del Ring decided to pass on being involved at the last second.

CMLL (SAT) 11/30/2019 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Bengala & Leono b Apocalipsis & Cholo
2) La Comandante, La Infernal, La Seductora b Avispa Dorada, La Guerrera, La Magnifica
Avispa Dorada first match since August, replacing La Vaquerita (in her only match of the month.) Rudas took 1/3.
3) Dark Magic, Pólvora, Vangellys b Esfinge, Pegasso, Stigma
rudos took1/3.
4) Black Panther b Universo 2000 Jr. [lightning]
5) Kráneo, Stuka Jr., Volcano b Ephesto, Grako, Templario
Grako replaced Mephisto (moved up.) Tecnicos took 2/3.
6) Carístico, Dulce Gardenia, Niebla Roja b Cuatrero, Forastero, Mephisto
Mephisto replaced Sanson (injury). Dulce Gardenia replaced Valiente. Tecnicos took 2/3, the last by DQ when Cuatrero fouled Caristico.

Sanson told +LuchaTV he’ll be out four weeks with two broken bones in his foot. In the meantime, Cuatrero wore a startling red outfit here.

It seems like a reasonable expectation for CMLL just to move Universo 2000 Jr. in the NGD trio for the time being. Losing to the likes of Black Panther (victory promo) doesn’t suggest that’s a plan at the moment. Universo 2000 Jr. hasn’t been on a streamed show in a month, so it’d be a giant leap to team him with his cousins at this point.

CMLL ran a private show in Arena Mexico at the same time as this was going on, and as the WWE Mexico City show was going on. I saw one guess of around 16,000 for that show. I need more than one guess to go with it but it did seem like a better turnout than recent years, which seems like a product of Rey Mysterio being involved. There was a ton of coverage of the WWE show and not much else.

CMLL (SUN) 12/01/2019 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Cholo & Yago b Bengala & Eléctrico
rudos took 1/3.
2) Grako, Nitro, Príncipe Odín Jr. b Retro, Robin, Súper Astro Jr.
rudos took 1/3.
3) Esfinge, Pegasso, Príncipe Diamante DQ Cancerbero, Espíritu Negro, Raziel
Tecnicos took 1/3, both by DQ. Espiritu unmasked Principe Diamante.
4) Atlantis Jr., Black Panther, Blue Panther b Kawato San, Okumura, Pólvora
5) Soberano Jr. & Titán b Negro CasasRey CometaTemplarioStigmaEl AudazDulce GardeniaFugazStar Jr.DroneFuego [CMLL WELTER, semifinal]
Elimination order: Drone, Fugaz (by Templario), Rey Cometa (Dulce Gardenia), Fuego (Star Jr.), Templario (Negro Casas), Dulce Gardenia, Audaz (Soberano), Negro Casas (Star Jr; some issue with the ref here), Star Jr. (Titan), leaving Titan and Soberano to decide the vacant title next week.
6) Carístico b Forastero
Caristico took 1/3.

That leaves the title match as the current national welterweight and the guy who was partners with the former champion, the two candidates to replace Dragon Lee in the pecking order fighting for his literal belt. A good story CMLL’s probably not going to tell. It may also be a pretty good match, which takes place on 12/08 and airs on 12/15. Perhaps the real story here is Drone and Fuego were correct to not believe they had a chance in this back on CMLL Informa.

Espiritu Negro and Principe Diamante continue to build their feud. Titan & Soberano Jr. talk up their match next week. Caristico celebrates his win. CMLL is due a press conference at any time to set the dates for three apuesta shows and announce the holiday schedule.

  1. I like the idea of Park joining Ingobernables.
    a) it’s Park in a cool stable
    b) it’s intrigue about it Park is really on board or if he’s using it to get an edge on Rush, like him and the rest of IngobernAAAbles enter one of those clusterfuck “loser loses hair/mask” and then it turns out Park was doing a big plan all along to get Rush’s hair

    obviously there’s probably
    c) some mixture of Park, Rush, and or AAA lose interest in doing this and it’s dropped in a couple of weeks

but nevertheless I want to enjoy it while it lasts. I’ve been seeing Park and Rush kill the crap out of each other for a while now, this is a nice change of pace.

  2. Just how many ‘Konnan + a bunch of rudos form a group to conquer and destroy AAA’ storylines have been done since AAA started?

  3. About as often as “and then a bunch of people run-in and beat up a bunch of other people”.
