11:47. Taurus used a foul to beat Psycho Clown. Taurus and partners Rich Swann & Willie Mack advance to next week’s semifinal.

This wasn’t the overall best show to me, but Shani/Keyra/Hiedra was the best women’s match I’ve seen in Mexico this year. The opener and the fourth match were worth watching as well.

The playoff format was changed around at the start of the show. The short version is it’ll be three people from different teams facing off in the men’s finals, instead of the people on the same team as originally announced (and as still happening with the women.) Puma & Taurus’ wins got their teams to the semifinals, where each team will fight among themselves to determine two of the finalists. The third finalist comes from the four teams who lost on these shows. A vote was held on Facebook to pick one person from each of those teams to get a second chance, which ended up being Psycho Clown, Pagano, Hijo del Vikingo and Carta Brava. They’ll have a four way for the last spot in the finals to end the season,

AAA , CAPITAL (WED) 12/04/2019 Pinche Gringo Barbecue, Miguel Hidalgo, Distrito Federal
1) Lady Shani vs Big MamiFaby Apache [final]
2) Pagano vs Psycho ClownHijo Del VikingoCarta Brava Jr. [semifinal]
3) Flamita vs Puma KingBengala [semifinal]
4) Taurus vs Rich SwannWillie Mack [semifinal]
5) ? vs ????? [final]

Taurus sneaking in a foul on Psycho Clown seemed like something AAA might get back next week, so I’m picking those two. Puma feels like he’d fit in better than Flamita or Bengala. Psycho Clown is AAA’s biggest star but hasn’t really won anything in quite a while, so him getting this slightly meaningful belt seems justified. Lady Shani should be the pick in the women’s division.

CMLL seems to be slightly trying tonight, a change-up from recent events. Negro Casas is not the Negro Casas of even three years ago, but watching him in a singles match is still a treat. He challenges Soberano for the Mexican Welterweight Championship tonight, two days before both start for the World Welterweight Championship.

Felino & Angel de Oro face off in a relevos increibels main event, with the cat teaming with Caristico & Ultimo Guerrero against Oro, Cavernario and Volador. This year of CMLL booking suggests we should be ready for the 1v1 feud turning into a lot more. There’s a second relevos increibles match on the card, with the micros doing one for the first time. Rivals Micorman & Chamuel team up with Perico Zakarias against Atomo, Gallito and Guapito, which doesn’t sound like a set up for a good match. One more feud continues in the tercera, with Kawato San & Dulce Gardenia on opposite sides of a trio including Star Jr., Stuka Jr., Vangellys and Virus.

The rest of the card includes the weekly NGD showcase (against Mistico, Titan, and Valiente this week) and an Oro Jr. & Sonic vs El Coyote & Espanto Jr. in an iffy seeming opener. The show begins at 8:30 pm on Marca’s YouTube and I’ll be streaming it as well.

CMLL mentions Felino wrestling for Fukumen Mania this past week; CMLL is closer to Mr. Cacao than RevPro.

Angel del Amor says he hopes winning Mr. CMLL will get him booked in CMLL.

Rey Bucanero says he misses being in a regular trio or pair.

Mr. Niebla says he’ll return to the ring in 2020. He’s still dealing with joint pain.

Canek reminces about the time Arnold Schwarzenegger told him was very strong.

Lucha Central has a preview of the show.

Myzteziz says it was important to prove that Mexican wrestling could compete with elite athletes from other sports in Exatlon. He’s ready to feud with Argenis.

Ciclope & Miedo Extremo say they’ll be in Japan for about 25 days.

Puma King has a new video.

There will be a 100 years of Santo celebration at the Tulancingo Santo museum.

Segunda Caida reviews Lucha Underground 4×17.

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 12/01/2019 Arena México
1) Bengala & Eléctrico vs Cholo & Yago
2) Retro, Robin, Súper Astro Jr. vs Grako, Nitro, Príncipe Odín Jr.
3) Esfinge, Pegasso, Príncipe Diamante vs Cancerbero, Espíritu Negro, Raziel
4) Atlantis Jr., Black Panther, Blue Panther vs Kawato San, Okumura, Pólvora
5) Titán vs Negro CasasSoberano Jr.Rey CometaTemplarioStigmaEl AudazDulce GardeniaFugazStar Jr.DroneFuego [CMLL WELTER, semifinal]
6) Carístico vs Forastero

Instead of 4 tecnicos and 4 rudos, it’s 10 tecnicos and 2 rudos. It’s still lame Dragon Lee isn’t around but Titan or Cometa or Templario picking up a title would be fun and plausible. Like, Drone & Fuego winning a title would be fun but that’s not happening. This is the usual “last two people have a match next week.”

CMLL (MON) 12/02/2019 Arena Puebla
1) Hijo de Centella Roja & Meyer vs Fuerza Chicana & Joker
2) Arkalis, Millenium, Rey Samuray vs Cancerbero, El Malayo, Raziel
3) Perverso vs Toro Bill Jr. [lightning]
4) El Audaz, Esfinge, Rey Cometa vs Pólvora, Tiger, Vangellys
5) Carístico, Star Jr., Titán vs Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón
6) Volador Jr. vs Euforia

The lightning match against suggests they’re just picking matches at random here. It’s a choice.

CMLL (TUE) 12/03/2019 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Fantástico, Johnny Dinamo, Principe Daniel vs Exterminador, Maléfico, Ráfaga
2) Princesa Sugehit, Silueta, Skadi vs Amapola, Reina Isis, Tiffany
3) Black Panther, Esfinge, Volcano vs Furia Roja, Okumura, Rey Bucanero
4) Kráneo, Stuka Jr., Titán vs Cavernario, Felino, Shocker
5) Volador Jr. vs Negro Casas

Volador having a busy week. Shocker not getting booked outside of Guadalajara for now. Skadi exists. She hasn’t made TV in two months.

CMLL (TUE) 12/03/2019 Arena México
1) Fantasy & Último Dragóncito vs Pequeño Violencia & Pierrothito
2) Eléctrico, Pegasso, Príncipe Diamante vs Cancerbero, Espíritu Negro, Raziel
3) Blue Panther Jr. vs DroneSangre ImperialSúper Astro Jr.Guerrero Maya Jr.Oro Jr.Hijo del SignoLeonoTigerYago [Copa Jr., semifinal]
4) Ángel de Oro, Dulce Gardenia, Niebla Roja vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto
5) Carístico vs Euforia

Another tournament! Copa Jr. hasn’t been seen 2016 (Esfinge beat Puma.) It reads as there’s another block coming on 12/10 and a final on 12/17. Leono being included is notable because he’s not been mentioned as a second-generation wrestler to this point and he’s been in CMLL forever. Maybe he got recently adopted. Maybe someone thought the Monterrey Leono was his dad.

CMLL stripping Kawato San of the lightweight championship was baffling at the time and now more so since they’ve clearly got a dozen things more important than deciding a new champion.

MEXA WRESTLING (SAT) 12/07/2019 Arena San Juan Pantitlan, Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, Estado de México
1) Canival, Mike, Teelo, Voltrex vs A. Oriental, Dinámico, Noicy Boy, Spider Fly
2) Fresero Jr. vs 12345678910 [Copa Mexa 2019]
3) Toro Negro vs Avisman
4) Fly Warrior, Pequeño Aéreo, Puma de Oro vs Fulgor I, Fulgor II, Torito Negro
5) Arcángel Divino vs Séptimo DragónToxinZumbidoÚltimo Maldito
6) Flamita vs Puma King,vs Rey Horus
7) El Bandido vs Aramis
8) Lunatik Fly & Sádika vs Fly Star & Lady Flammer and La Heroína & Lunatik Xtreme and Sadik Maiden & Sobredosis [cage, relevos suicidas]
9) ? vs ?? [mask, hair]

Is Lunatik Fly or Fly Star going to lose their hair again? Maybe. Bandido vs Aramis should be fun; it really doesn’t seem so long when Bandido was the young guy against world traveler Flamita in this same building. The opener is a rematch of the match that went viral.

One thought to “Lucha Capital semifinals, lots of CMLL feuds tonight, Copa Junior back for some reason”

  1. I think they run the Copa Jr in 2017 with Soberano winning, they changed it to Copa nuevos valores in 2018.
