I liked the opener and wasn’t in to much else.

AAA came very close to a tournament that made sense but reverted to form in the final week. The semifinals were changed from best three to best six men’s teams advance. All the women’s teams advance; the points end up not really meaning anything there. There was also the required math error. This is AAA’s final table

4 Dinastia, Drago, Psycho Clown
4 Taurus, Willie Mack, Rich Swann
3 Bengala, Puma King, Flamita
3 Octagon Jr., Aerostar, Hijo del Vikingo
2 Pagano, Super Fly, Maximo
2 Poder del Norte
------
1 Argenis, Arez, Mr. Iguana
0 Mamba, Murder Clown, Nino Hamburguesa
0 Dave the Clown, Villano III Jr., Abismo Negro Jr.

Total it up, that’s 19 wins. There were only 18 matches. The 2 points for Poder del Norte is the issue. Tito beat Vikingo in week 2 and the squad lost all their other matches.

The finish minute of the Pagano/Cota/Hamburguesa match was a total mess. The sequence of Cota clearly submitting to Pagano except for Copetes ignoring it – and not even in a particularly rudo way. Hamburguesa & Pagano grabbed each other and talked for what felt like a long time trying to figure out to do. One brutal-looking suplex later, Copetes was definitely slow counting Pagano. Cota came back in got beat Pagano a moment later. Had Pagano & Cota done some sort of draw finish where they beat Hamburguesa at the same time, that would’ve actually fixed the math issue (give them both 2 or 1.5, it works either way), but it never looked like that was the intention.

Best guess at next week is three trios matches between the remaining men teams, and one three-way trios match between the women. It may be a short respite from the all three-way singles matches. The endpoint still seems to be “people on the same team fight each other for the belt”, it’s just a matter of how they narrow it down.

Killer Kross comes on Konnan’s podcast. Konnan mentioned Big Plans For Killer Kross are starting on the 12/01 TripleMania Regia show and will be followed up on the 12/14 show. We’ve been down that road before but it’s not important right now. What is important is it was pointed out that most people can’t currently see TripleMania Regia right now. Konnan said he was also confused at why a show with great worldwide interest wasn’t available online and monetized in some way. He raised that concern to AAA, who told him they’re working on it. That’s promising, though time is running out on this and AAA’s not typically speedy. This is some hope, don’t plan your Sunday around it.

(AAA’s handled this the same as most lucha libre promotions seem to with difficult issues, though it remains frustrating as a lucha libre viewer. There may be real reasons AAA can’t show TripleMania Regia live – maybe there’s a deal with Multimedios, maybe there’s a hold up with Rush & Bandido’s ROH contract. It just shouldn’t be some weird mystery fans have to put together themselves in these situations. If AAA’s willing to say “this is why we’re doing what we’re doing”, people are generally going to be accepting of it and it builds a positive relationship between the promotion and the people who follow it. If for no other reason, there’s a market advantage in not being as bad as CMLL at stuff like this. At this point, if there are reasons AAA can’t air TripleMania Regia, even the person booking the show doesn’t know it – it wouldn’t take much to improve communication.)

Turnout seems fine considering it was a workday afternoon show with no big match.

CMLL Informa announced a CMLL World Welterweight Cibernetico on 12/01, with the final two deciding the new champion on 12/08. Those are Sunday shows, so the matches will air on a week’s delay. There will be eight wrestlers in the tournament. Soberano Jr., Star Jr., Drone, and Fuego were announced on CMLL Informa, which was mostly notable for Soberano & Star Jr. being in a great mood and Fuego & Drone not so much. Soberano Jr. seems the most likely to win of the four announced so far, though that would likely mean another tournament for the national welterweight championship. Four rudos will be announced next Wednesday on Informa, though the names will probably get out by Monday night when people are announced for the show or the poster comes out.

Mano Negra told El Universal his 12/07 CMLL match will be his final in Arena Mexico. It doesn’t sound like he’s retiring completely; he wrestles a few times a year on legends shows elsewhere and perhaps may still. He is concerned with suffering an injury at his age.

Tuesday was the one year anniversary of Angel o Demonio throwing a brick at Cuervo of Puerto Rico’s head. Cuervo says he still can’t remember parts of the attack and underwent and says he needed CPR three times before he stabilized. He’s dealing with panic attacks, depression, and anxiety. He still has a goal of returning to wrestling.

Local Monclova legends will be honored at Arena Tigre Padilla today.

About a couple times a year, there’s are posters for lucha libre shows in Memphis. The Memphis Flyer has the backstory on the local promotion, run by a car customizer who loves lucha libre. He’s gotten into making masks as well.

An interview with Pompin appears to have some dates wrong but is a brief bit on his long career. Pompin says El Santo actually paid for Pompin’s wrestling license and clothes to help get him started, feeling that kind of family is much less likely now.

12/07 MexaWrestling at Arean San Juan

They probably don’t need much more of a show than that.

LuchaWorld has the latest Lucha Report.

Ultimo Guerrero faces Escualo in Costa Rica on 12/15.

Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 11/22/2019 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Princesa Sugehit, Sanely, Silueta vs Dalys, La Infernal, Reina Isis
2) Átomo, Gallito, Microman vs Chamuel, Guapito, Perico Zakarías
3) Atlantis Jr., Dulce Gardenia, Flyer vs Pólvora, Tiger, Vangellys
4) Ángel de Oro, Carístico, Niebla Roja vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto

Looks like a Roshfrans sponsored show. Flyer hasn’t been seen in three weeks; not sure if the time off was a physical or mental need, but he seemed to need it.

CMLL (SUN) 11/24/2019 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Divino, Fantástico, Mr. Samurai vs Demonio Maya, Demonio Rojo, Thunder Boy
2) Crixus, Luminoso, Paladin vs Cris Skin, Fúnebre, Paymon
3) Johnny Dinamo, Principe Daniel, Reycko vs Carlo Roggi, Exterminador, Ráfaga
4) Bobby Black, Joker, Sádico, Vaquero Jr. vs Difunto, Frezzer, Furia Roja, Guerrero de la Muerte
5) Explosivo, Fugaz, Místico vs Ephesto, Maléfico, Mephisto

Maybe this going to settle at being three-four CMLL wrestlers here a week. Mistico probably should be in demand elsewhere to be too busy for these shows and it’s not a great sign he’s available.
