What happened:
Maximo, Faby Apache, Rich Swann, and Puma King won their matches.
Thoughts:
The main event was the best match, the one where everyone seemed to be on the same page and the plans for the match didn’t fall apart. It made relative sense, it had a lot of exciting spots. It didn’t seem like it developed any more than just a lot of spots, but that’s about the most to expectout of the three-way matches. The powerbomb off the apron onto Octagon Jr. was a good use of three-man match even if it wasn’t fast enough to make it look great. Other one on one moments did look good. Wish there were just those.
If you wanted a lot of Dave the Clown, you got a lot of Dave the Clown. That wasn’t really good. Swann tried, Dave just knows how to do some moves and no idea how to put them together. He also isn’t big on selling for other people. Argenis was as forgettable as always.
The women’s match was easily disappointing. There were a few spots of great impact, including the finish. There was a lot of stuff where people weren’t on the same page or meshing. Keyra had a bad night, looking off multiple times even when left on her own. This is the worst of the four women’s matches they’ve had so far.
The opener couldn’t end quick enough. Maximo is really good at getting a reaction by doing nothing, and he was doing nothing early. He’s most in house show mode of anyone in this tournament. Tito & Dinastia were better, but not everything was working there. The double Code Red spot killed the crowd. Lots of the matches are longer than they need to be and this one didn’t need to go 11.
Bengala, Keyra, Octagon Jr. & Psycho Clown all won their matches.
Thoughts:
The crowd dug Psycho Clown and the main event. It didn’t seem as good on video, peaking with Murder Clown’s top rope splash and then just going on a while longer because they had more moves to do. Pagano had a relatively safe day, Psycho and Murder were fine, this just was less than some of the other matches on the show.
The Octagon Jr. felt laid out well, with the action moving well from pairing to pairing. Iguana’s still new here and very willing to take just about anything, which helped Carta Brava look like a killer. That helped Octagon look great for beating him in the end. The Poder del Norte rudos have delivered well in these three-way matches and everyone got a big moment.
Vanilla is only on TV once every two months, which makes it easy to forget she and Keyra seem to hate each other. This brought back memories of their Guadalajara brawl. Keyra hit hard, Lady Shani hit back hard, Vanills survived for a while until she was killed in the end. Vanilla did give Keyra a brutal corner powerbomb, though she could use some of the creativity of Shani’s mat work. Keyra’s hard face kick right before the finish was a signature spot. This could’ve used Shani not disappearing for a long time before the finish, but was otherwise flew by.
The opener will play better in highlights than it did in real-time. It was slow, with a few moments of the match coming to the halt. Some of that was to play to the crowd, filled with fans who more into Abismo Negro Jr. then anyone has been so far. It struggled to find any rhythm. Abismo Negro Jr. was breathing very hard by the end.
Negro Casas tied Atlantis’ mask to the top rope in the first fall and repeatedly kicked him until Atlantis gave up. Not sure I’ve seen that submission much.
Akuma was disqualified for throwing Asturiano over the top rope (onto his teammates) in the first fall. Perverso unmasked Star Jr. for the DQ in the second.
Forastero unmasked Místico for the DQ, setting up a match.
Thoughts:
The main event was the basic singles match build up match, nothing special. CMLL’s been built on interchangeable wrestlers, and recent events probably will make CMLL less interested in making anyone standout for fear of them leaving. Still, a downside is the lack of individual or group identities makes the matches feel more similar. There are no battles between NGD and a specific trio team, it’s just which three names get picked out of a hat. There’s nothing special about the matches when none of the wrestlers or combinations feel all that special.
The semi-main had a minimal amount of Stuka Jr. & Soberano, which left not a lot you’d want to see. Tying Atlantis to the ropes was a creative way to work around his limitations but he’s still very limited. At least it was quick.
The segunda was an aggressively nothing match, a waste of time to watch. The rudos aren’t interesting to take 90% of something like this, though that’s what happened anyway.
The first two falls of the opener were a bit dry. The third fall (around 18:45) was worth seeing as a standalone. Astro & Sonic are exactly what works for a prelim team, while Meyer looked good too. Espiritu took a crazy bump out of the ring in between baseing. I’m also 100% sure Sonic had no idea what move he was ending up with when he started what turned out to be a 12 step finishing sequence.
Rey Bucanero took crazy old man bumps, which is what he did last time he was involved in this title (losing it to Hechicero.) Star Jr. finally actually got his main event and fell into a feud with Templario.
CMLL (TUE) 11/05/2019Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Fantástico, Mr. Samurai, Reycko b Freezer, Guerrero de la Muerte, Mr. Apolo
2) El Rielero, Metatrón, Robin b Cholo, Gran Kenut, Ráfaga Rafaga replaced Leon Blanco. Tecnicos took 2/3.
3) Lluvia, Princesa Sugehit, Silueta b La Seductora, Metálica, Tiffany tecnicas took 1/3, a rare win!
4) Fugaz, Soberano Jr., Valiente b Cavernario, Cuatrero, Forastero Fugaz replaced Caristico (moved up). Tecnicos took 1/3.
5) Ángel de Oro, Carístico, Niebla Roja DQ Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero Caristico replaced Diamante Azul. Tecnicos took 2/3, the last with Euforia fouling Angel de Oro to set up a singles match next week.
Diamante Azul posted a photo of him eating ice cream so he appears to be alive. He is out of action again. CMLL quietly replaced him with Titan on Saturday, Kraneo on Sunday. Euforia/Angel de Oro seems like a good replacement feud. Fugaz getting big Mexico City wins makes him a more useful replacement in his home arena.
Mr. Niebla reports he’s out of the hospital and back home after dealing with a blood infection.
Reporte Indigo interviews Titan, who mentions working jobs as a waiter, a merchant selling cosmetics and a magician’s assistant to pay for his wrestling training. I’m now going with the idea that Titan was sawed in half during a magic trick and that’s when he learned how to walk on his hands.
CMLL’s announced a lot of Buen Fin deals for next weekend. Buen Fin is a Mexico-like Black Friday sale concept for November. There’s a lot of 2×1 deals in Arena Mexico, Coliseo, and the Sunday Guadalajara show.
Terrible is headed to NJPW to team with Los Ingobernables de Japon member Shingo Takagi in the World Tag League. The World Tag League runs from 11/16 to 12/08. Terrible is going to take so many pins. It’ll be fun to have him on CMLL Informa about this, if only for an explanation about the future of Los Ingobernables in CMLL.
Tonight’s episode four of Lucha Capital. Everyone’s had one match, everyone gets to have a second match and then, uh, other things happen. AAA sent out a mostly mystery lineup, then posted the full talent group this morning.
The show airs on Facebook at 9 pm. With DST over, it is back to being right after NXT/AEW.
AAA launched an international t-shirt store on ProWrestlingTees.com. There are seven different designs, with Psycho Clown and La Parka the wrestlers featured. This is a good first step. AAA’s launched online stores in the past, though they’ve tended to get little attention after that launch. As best as I can tell, AAA has not promoted this store or the deal with MLW yet. Maybe they’re waiting to do it when they’re on Azteca Friday.
Kastigador defeated Vengador in their mask match at Arena Queretaro last night. +LuchaTV did stream it live. The two went to a double pinfall in the third fall, with the commission restating the match so there would be a winner. The match was said to be around the level as the previous matches. Vengador is Luis Omar Pacheco, 22 years old, 8 years a wrestler.
Fuerza Guerrera held a press conference to repeat the announcement of a couple of weeks ago: he plans on retiring in April 2021. Guerrera says he will refuse any mask match unless they are against Atlantis, Octagon or Hijo del Santo. He also would like to team with his children during this tour and retire in Arena Mexico. Fuerza Guerrera names Blue Panther, Negro Casas, Atlantis, Dr. Wagner, Caristico and Penta along the way. Fuerza Guerrera is a big star but 16 months notice is a long time for a retirement tour.
The 11/17 Pro Wrestling Mexico show seems much more like a normal Monterrey card than the super-indie they had been doing lately. Perhaps they, like Kaoz, are staying away from using AAA-associated people before TripleMania Regia.
Box Y Lucha says White Man II passed away. The original White Man (a flip of El Toreo’s Black Man character) was Alberto Munoz in the 70s/80s. This White Man II only shows up in results last year rarely; I’d guess there’s another name he used.
Periodico La Voz has an interview with Mini Hator.

This taping isn’t canceled after all. That means AAA is going to run a normal taping on a Saturday and TripleMania Regia on Sunday. That’ll be two shows within 24 hours with some decent travel in between. Not everyone is going to work both, but it’s still a surprising thing to do. It would make some sense if AAA needed it for TV purposes. TripleMania Regia would seem to cover that need, though the show being sponsored by local TV network Multimedios may mean different distribution than usual. Nothing to be concerned about now, but perhaps check for a Twitch logo on the poster when it turns up.
AAA’s saving the big stuff for 12/01 and 12/14, so this is just a card of trios matches. The top two matches do mix up the usual opponents a bit, with the Mercenarios facing the Flyers while Taurus & the OGTs face Psycho’s crew.
Super Crazy showing up a surprise; he hasn’t been here since a short run in 2011. Myzteziz again is listed despite being on Extalon. AAA might not know something we don’t, but they also could’ve just listed a surprise luchador to not give it away.
