AAA strong show in Toluca, Cavernario still champ, Misterioso & Sagrado no longer BFFs

AAA TV (SAT) 10/26/2019 Domvs Zina, San Miguel Zinacantepec, Estado de México [AAA, DigitalMexLucha Central, thecubsfan]
1) Dinastía © b Laredo BoyMini Psycho ClownDemusDrago Kid [AAA MINI (posted by Lucha Libre AAA (Twitch))
9:00. Debuts of Laredo Boy (Freelance) and Drago Kid (Astroux.) First defense for Dinastia, pinning Mini Psycho Clown.
2) Carta Brava Jr., Mocho Cota Jr., Tito Santana b Mr. Iguana, Niño Hamburguesa, Octagón Jr. (posted by Lucha Libre AAA (Twitch))
8:41. Mocho Cota landed the splash on Mr. Iguana after Nino Hamburguesa was hurt on a dive.

3) Bengala, Big Mami, Dinastía b Keyra, Lady Maravilla, Último Maldito  (posted by Lucha Libre AAA (Twitch))
11:11. Bengala won with the highspeed Mistica on Ultimo Maldito. Maravilla attacked Big Mami after the match. Hamburguesa limped out to make the save, but Mami wanted nothing to do with him. Mami challenged for a hair vs mask match (Maravilla said no), and demanded a mixed tag title rematch on 12/13. It was left unclear who Big Mami would team with for that match.
4) Drago, Murder Clown, Puma King b Abismo Negro Jr., Súper Fly, Texano Jr.  (posted by Lucha Libre AAA (Twitch))
9:30. Puma beat Abismo Negro with a code red
5) Aramis b TaurusHijo Del VikingoArez  (posted by Lucha Libre AAA (Twitch))
13:50. Taurus beat Aramis with the Rodeo Driver.
6) Pagano, Pentagón Jr., Psycho Clown b Averno, Chessman, Rey Escorpión  (posted by Lucha Libre AAA (Twitch))
19:06. Rudos jumped the tecnicos before the match, then lost (Psycho pinning Escorpion) then jumped up the tecnicos after the match. Penta had earlier put on an open challenge for the tag titles, which Escorpion & Texano want for themselves on 12/13.

Another strong show with a surprising amount of things being set up. Guerra de Titanes is 12/13 (one day earlier) and has two tag title matches set up. The fourway was as great as expected, with Vikingo having a better performance than the previous week and the few faults of the match mostly being attempts at being super creative which didn’t totally come together. The minis match was unexpectedly great, though perhaps it would’ve been expected if Freelance & Astrolux were none participants. Laredo Boy being older than Laredo Kid is amusing, but maybe also a sign of AAA wanting to get away from the mini termonology. They’re using Dinastia out of that division (here working twice for a MIA Maximo) and they may want to leave the door open for other luchadors of similiar stature.

(I’m not sure when I’ll get to a recap of this.)

The building looked about 2/3rds full. It seats 3,300, so that would be in range of what they used to draw in the old Toluca Gimnasio Agustin Milan arena. It looked the best of all the Toluca area venues they’ve tried so far, with just enough room for dives.

I think have to come to grips that Abismo Negro Jr. exists purely to keep the name in circulation and there’s no real plan for him at that moment beyond that. I’m stuck on the idea that bringing back Abismo Negro would mean a big deal, but he’s taken the pinfall in 3 of the 4 matches he’s in – he loses more than Eterno was losing. It’s a bonus if the gimmick gets over but that’s not the priority – using him to get over other people, the same as he was doing as Eterno, is the project. They did have him tease a martinete very briefly and it didn’t get much of a reaction, so maybe it’s not something worth pursuing anyone.

Next taping is 11/09 (Saturday) in Torreon. That turns out to be the same night as the next AEW PPV.

Cavernario took falls 2/3. 2nd defense.

Cavernario talked about his win. The match will air next Sunday.

Sean Lennon, son of John Lennon & Yoko Ono, visited the show.

Guadalajara seems to be relaunching the Satanico/Hechicero feud.

Rush kept the Ring of Honor Championship over Jeff Cobb today in Bolton. Flamtia also beat Mike Bailey in his sole victory of the three-day tour. The Flamita match was the better of the two, neither really was must see; the Scurll/Gordon vs Lucky/Flethcer match was the best of what I had time to see. It appears Rush will not defend the title again until December’s Final Battle, though that could change. The date for AAA’s Guera de Titanes changing to December 13th means there’s now no chance Rush will be on that show (thought hat weird Mexicali show seems safe for the Lucha Brothers now.)
