3:40. Straight falls clean.

CMLL promos: Valiente & Star Jr., Felino, Chamuel and Microman.

Pressroom interviews: micro tecnicos (Box Y Lucha, +LuchaTV), Mistico (Box Y Lucha, The Gladiatores, +LuchaTV), Valiente & Star Jr. (Box Y Lucha, The Gladiatores, +LuchaTV), Felino (Box Y Lucha, +LuchaTV) . I think Star Jr. would be a better pick for winning this tournament than Fugaz. I also think it would be a good thing if Mistico got a feud or a tournament win or something so people would stop asking him questions about staying or leaving in every interview.

No match you really need to see. There were a few highlights. The opener was a notable lowlight.

Star Jr. has been a bright, uh, star in CMLL’s early matches the last few months. He’s deserving of getting to the final. Espanto going far was not as deserved. It was more an expose of either bad planning to not have a better rudo available or worse talent evaluation.

CMLL will have a press conference Friday night before the usual Arena Mexico show. It’s a rare time for a CMLL press conference. It’ll likely be focused on the Dia de Muertos imagery to hype those shows for the press. They may announce the Rey del Inframundo qualifying lineup for the 25th but probably nothing more than that. This is a marketing department deal, so it may be the first appearance of Sofia Alonso in a CMLL press event since she was demoted from the position of president. There’s no chance anyone will ask about it.

Ovaciones recap of the show mentions the Gran Alternativa winning team will go to FantasticaMania 2020. That’s the traditional reward for winning the tournament. CMLL just hasn’t explicitly stated it yet. Mistico’s been on that tour for years. Fugaz obviously would be debuting. Star Jr. was there in 2018, but Valiente has never actually worked that January tour. He’s been in NJPW a few times during the year, but he’s been one guy left behind to be in a top position while everyone has gone.

Princesa Sugehit is set to return tonight in Arena Coliseo. In an interview with ESTO from earlier this week, Sugehit says she believes she suffered her brain injury getting thrown by her hair and landing badly. That’s seen as a low impact move relative to everything else that’s one.

AAA announced Rich Swann, Villano III Jr., Ayako Hamada, Aerostar, Drago, Flamita, Nino Hamburguesa, Lady Flammer, Willie Mack, Big Mami, Argenis and Maximo for the first episode of Lucha Capital. The graphic and the previous WON story about this being a trios tournament suggests those are teams, but it’s intentionally unclear. AAA’s release a couple of videos about the tournament but they’re just going over last year’s standouts and winners so far. I don’t think we’ll know the initial concept and field until Wednesday night.

Rich Swann & Wilie Mack are in from Impact, as had been mentioned in the WON. Mack was on the Saltillo show. Rich Swann was last since in AAA on the 2018 TripleMania, a part of the four-way title match that no one really remembers outside of the dive on Marisela. This is Lady Flammer’s debut in AAA, an odd pairing with her being The Crash’s Women’s Champion. Likewise, we know Flamita like won’t be on episode 3, because he’ll be off completing the rare AAA/ROH double.

Hijo del Vikingo returned last night on an AAA spot show. It’s his first match since a leg injury at the end of August. He was expected out six weeks and returned on that schedule. Vikingo says it’ll still take some time to get back his confidence.

Fenix very dramatically responds to Kenny Omega’s challenge.

Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 10/18/2019 Arena México
1) Angelito & Fantasy vs Pequeño Nitro & Pierrothito
2) Black Panther, Blue Panther Jr., Pegasso vs Misterioso, Okumura, Sagrado
3) Rey Cometa vs Stigma
4) Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón vs Atlantis Jr., Audaz, Soberano Jr.
5) Ángel de Oro, Carístico, Diamante Azul vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero
6) Fugaz & Místico vs Star Jr. & Valiente [Gran Alternativa, final]

The tournament final is an odd mix of teams with no clear favorite. The fourth match should be good. Rey Cometa loses the lightning match, has the same lightning match the following week.

AAA TV (SAT) 11/09/2019 Estadio Revolucion, Torreón, Coahuila
1) Dragón Bane & Mr. Iguana vs La Parkita Negra & Mini Psycho Clown
2) ?, Bengala, Big Mami vs Keyra, Lady Maravilla, Último Maldito
3) Dinastía, Lady Shani, Niño Hamburguesa vs Arez, La Hiedra, Villano III Jr.
4) Flamita, Hijo Del Vikingo, Octagón Jr. vs Carta Brava Jr., Mocho Cota Jr., Tito Santana
5) Aerostar, Murder Clown, Nicho el Millionario vs Killer Kross, Monsther Clown, Taurus
6) Dr. Wagner Jr., Pagano, Psycho Clown vs Blue Demon Jr., Chessman, Rey Escorpión

This is two shows post AAA, though not much seems to have changed. The same three couples in the main event. Nicho appearing would be his first AAA appearance in AAA since 2017. The fourth match could be great. The empty match in the second match seems like a women’s spot; perhaps Flammer?

The next lineup is 11/17 in Ciudad Juarez. They’re keeping to a month ahead of time announcement, so that’ll turn up late this week or early next.
