AAA InvadingLA update, weekend indie results, Puebla preview

CMLL keeps going

IWRG (SUN) 09/29/2019 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Cheff Benito b Neza Kid
2) Atomic Star, Puma de Oro, Tromba b Dragón Fly, Marado, Mosca
Tromba (replacing Atomic Star) wore Puma de Oro’s extra gear.
3) Alas de Oro, Alas De Plata, Dick Angelo Jr. DQ Ángel Tormenta, Canibal Jr., Death Metal
Death Metal fouled Angel de Oro
4) Herodes Jr. & Hijo de Pirata Morgan b El Hijo del Medico Asesino & Warrior Jr.
The Los Master Juniors have broken up.
5) Ave Rex, Hip Hop Man, Karaoui, Zumbi DQ Black Terry, Dinamic Black, Eragón, Lunatic Extreme
the power was out during this match. Strange DQ.
6) Dragón Bane, Hijo de Canis Lupus, Pirata Morgan b Hijo De Dos Caras, Imposible, Súpernova
7) Demonio Infernal © b Fresero Jr. [IWRG Rey del Ring]
2nd defense. Hair match challenges followed.

That seems like an actual plausible apuesta match. There was no AYM stream for this show. The power went out during the show, which might be related.

Other results

No sign of that Rush press conference yet. He did get stuck in Las Vegas an extra day (and got to hang out with old friends), so perhaps it was delayed.

I previously noted the AAA InvadingLA show had disappeared from the FITE iPPV schedule sometime over the weekend. A source at a different company which deals with conventional PPVs mentioned it is now also off their schedule. The AAA Invading LA PPV has been postponed until 2020 according to the information they received. Tickets are still on sale at this point, and nothing has been publicly announced to that extent. Nothing has been publicly announced positively either; AAA last mentioned the show about a week ago.

There’s still a chance AAA’s just dropped the PPV portion of this concept (and are broadcasting it some other way.) Still, there are other rumors going about this show being postponed or canceled. Most people would be surprised if the show went on, but AAA surprised most people with the New York show actually taking place so maybe they’ll pull a rabbit out of their hat again. I’d suggest not making plans for this show until AAA announces something.

Today’s Puebla show has Caristico, Mistico, and Volador Jr. against Los Guerreros. That reads like a special match, but those haven’t been turning out to be special matches of late. I think people would be less concerned about departures from CMLL if there were still a lot of matches living up to their potential. They may be headed to a Mistico/UG match, which sure feels different than it did last week.

Hechicero, Templario, and Terrible take on Flyer, Stuka, and Titan, which also might be entertaining but doesn’t feel like anything can be counted on. The third and fourth matches are Metalica & Sanely in a lightning match and the micros in a trios. One of those but not both of those is headed to a singles match next week; either Metalica gets another title defense of Microman faces Chamuel.

The locals fueled openers include Policeman in the segunda and Astro & Dark Soul returning in the opener. The show streams at 9 pm on YouTube.

Fugaz replaces Star Black on the Arena Mexico Gran Alternativa tournament on Friday, teaming with Mistico. He takes the place of the injured Star Black, who probably shouldn’t have been listed in the first place. Fugaz has been in Mexico City in 2017 and 2018 and has looked just OK.

The Lucha Brothers are in AAW on 11/30. Again, either they haven’t signed with AEW, or they have a deal different from everyone else who was finishing up before starting with AEW this week.

The promoter of a show on Thursday in Aguascalientes says Dragon Lee is still contracted to appear on the show. That’s good for Dragon Lee, though there’s still a danger CMLL could change that and send someone else.

I had to stop and think if this main event should’ve been for a championship. (Neither man is champion.)
