What happened:
Volador pulled off Dragon Lee’s mask and pinned him in the second fall. Dragon Lee asked for a rematch.
Thoughts:
I wish the Guerreros switched their finishes around in this one. It would’ve been more interesting if they had used the new hold in the third fall instead of ending this title match exactly how they ended the previous one between these two teams. The action was slightly better the first time and fresher; both teams put in a good effort but they didn’t really build on the first one as tour the match for a different fanbase. CMLL is for the live crowd so concerns about repeating is not such a concern. This was still good fun but I’m not sure you need to see both matches.
The Volador/Dragon Lee sequences were good enough to suck me in for a rematch, but the whole match wasn’t very much. They did work hard fro the time they went.
The random midcard tag match was notable for being a 2v2 one fall match where none is usually done, and there was good action as long as it went. It felt like it peaked in the opening exchanged and the rudos struggled to stay on the same page while in control. MechaWolf has generally done well in CMLL but something wasn’t fitting together right here. The other guys contributed but the Audaz/Templario sections were so good as to really wish they’d been able to have the scheduled singles match or at least finish this one out.
The relevos increibles aspect of the tercera really didn’t add anything to the quality of the match. Toro Bill was better as a tecnico than Stigma was as a rudo but neither really affected the quality of the average midcard match. Maybe it helped them be less bored but it didn’t really translate into anything memorable.
Astro’s been looking good in the openers and this was probably the best he’s been so far. He was getting big air and pulling off some nicely complicated stuff. I think Joker is one of the better local rudos and that helped, though Sombra Diabolika is more of a struggle. Sonic worked well alongside him and this seemed like the closest to a good opening match as possible in Arena Puebla.
