CMLL weekend results: Ciber/UG unsettled, Mistico wins, Micros feud, Super J Cup

Just the CMLL results for now. Probably everything else tomorrow, though it may be later than usual.

Ciber’s team took fall 1, Ciber fouled UG in fall 2, Cavernario & Azul defeated Valiente & the Chris in the third. No resolution to UG/Ciber.

Promos: Chamuel, Microman, Sanson, and main event rudos.

Ciber & Chris invited Valiente to join the CL4N, which is the dictionary definition of a big idea that’s thrown out during these promos which never goes anywhere. It’s weird there’s more clear direction in the micros than the Aniversario show. Maybe next week.

CMLL (SAT) 08/24/2019 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Pequeño Olímpico & Pequeño Violencia b Acero & Aéreo
2) Amapola, La Comandante, Metálica b La Guerrera, La Jarochita, La Maligna
rudas took 2/3.
3) Robin b Espanto Jr. [lightning]
4) Blue Panther, Drone, Stigma b Misterioso, Olímpico, Sagrado
tecnicos took 2/3
5) Cavernario, La Bestia Del Ring, Mr. Niebla b Dulce Gardenia, Flyer, Volador Jr.
rudos took 1/3
6) Místico b Último Guerrero
Mistico took 1/3, the last with La Mistica.

Mistico talked about how he needed this match to show his abilities. This is the first time Mistico’s defeated Ultimo Guerrero in a singles match in Mexico. (He’s done it previously in Japan and lost his previous 5 singles matches to UG in Mexico.) Espanto was not quite as successful.

CMLL (SUN) 08/25/2019 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Leono & Retro b Cholo & Yago
tecnicos took 1/3
2) Amapola, La Comandante, Tiffany b La Vaquerita, Sanely, Silueta
Silueta was listed as replacing Vaquerita but actually replaced La Maligna. Rudas took 2/3.
3) Fuego, Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa b Dark Magic, Misterioso, Vangellys
tecnicos took 2/3.
4) Rey Bucanero b Blue Panther [lightning]
5) Atlantis Jr., Kráneo, Stuka Jr. DQ Ephesto, Hijo del Villano III, Mephisto
tecnicos took 1/3, V3 unmasking Atlantis Jr. again.
6) Ángel de Oro, Niebla Roja, Volador Jr. b Gran Guerrero, Negro Casas, Terrible
tecnicos took 1/3.

Rey Bucanero did the usual winner’s promo.

Mark Briscoe is off the Gran Prix team due to a knee injury. Replacing him is ROH’s Delirious, who might also be in Mexico to talk about future CMLL/ROH plans as well. (I’m assuming Delirious is taking all of Mark Briscoe’s bookings the rest of the week.) The good news is the announcers definitely will not get the Briscoes confused now.

None of the three CMLL luchadors won the Super J Cup. Soberano was eliminated by Caristico on Saturday. Caristico was defeated by Dragon Lee on Sunday, and then Dragon Lee lost in the final to ELP.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 08/27/2019 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Alteño, Explosivo, Star Black vs Difunto, Furia Roja, Guerrero de la Muerte
2) Átomo, El Gallito, Microman vs Chamuel, Guapito, Perico Zacarías
3) Esfinge, Titán, Tritón vs Cuatrero, Sansón, Universo 2000 Jr.
4) Ángel de Oro, Cavernario, Dragón Lee, Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Negro Casas, Niebla Roja, Stuka Jr. vs Delirious, Gilbert el Boricua, Jay Briscoe, Kenny King, Luke Hawx, Matt Taven, Mecha Wolf 450, Oráculo
5) Volador Jr. © vs Mephisto [NWA WELTER]
fourth defense

Guadalajara is the big Tuesday show, so they get the same singles match + Gran Prix preview as Puebla. That sure seems to point to a singles match (Microman/Chamuel?) being paired with the actual Gran Prix on Friday.

CMLL (TUE) 08/27/2019 Arena México
1) Angelito & Último Dragóncito vs Mercurio & Pequeño Nitro
2) Robin vs Grako [lightning]
3) Pegasso, Star Jr., Súper Astro Jr. vs Espanto Jr., Hijo del Signo, Nitro
4) Black Panther, Blue Panther Jr., Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Vangellys
5) Kráneo, Rey Cometa, Volcano vs Ephesto, Hechicero, Luciferno
6) Carístico, Soberano Jr., Stuka Jr. vs La Bestia Del Ring, Mr. Niebla, Terrible

And this show gets the scraps. It’s a little weird CMLL is sending the Dinamitas to work third from the top in Guadalajara when they have Cancerbero & Raziel in the same position here. On the other hand, the Cancerberos get some decent veteran opponent for once.

Robin gets two singles matches in three days because CMLL is weird.
