Kobayashi/Amapola & Mascara2K/Ultimo Guerrero set for 05/31

05/31

CMLL’s press conference today included the announcement of two expected hair matches. They went as far as to announce the full card for May 31st show, entitled Juicio Final.

CMLL (FRI) 05/31/2019 Arena México
1) Black Panther, Blue Panther Jr., Rey Cometa vs Kawato, Misterioso Jr., Virus
2) Ángel de Oro, Niebla Roja, Soberano Jr. vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto
3) Kaho Kobayashi vs Amapola [hair]
4) Diamante Azul & Valiente © vs Euforia & Gran Guerrero [CMLL TAG]
3rd defense
5) Carístico, Místico, Volador Jr. vs Bárbaro Cavernario, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
6) Último Guerrero vs Máscara Año 2000 [hair]

Kobyashi & Amapola appeared to sign their contracts. Ultimo Guerrero did as well, and Mascara 2000 joined at the last moment to sign the contract.

Before revealing the card, Julio Cesar Rivera explained this was a new step by CMLL to hold a big show each month going forward. This card isn’t that great – UG/Mascara isn’t much of a match, Azul & Valiente aren’t interesting champions – but it would be interesting for CMLL to go to running big shows every month. They’ve typically stuck to just 4-5 a year, leaving long periods of nothing but tournaments around now. Maybe those hair matches on Saturday and Sunday are part of a bigger plan to make things more exciting. I would suggest waiting to see a big show every month before you believe CMLL is actually going to do it.

In addition, a Copa Dinastia tournament will start on June 7th. This is a standard three-week tournament though with fewer teams than most – just eight. That means just three matches each week, with those Friday cards looking more like normal lineups than the tournament heavy shows of recent past. Teams will be announced on future editions of CMLL Informa.

CMLL also announced a new TV deal with TV Mexiquense, a public broadcasting station in Mexico State. They’ll start airing Sunday shows on June 2nd at noon, presumably on a one week delay. Those had been airing on Teleformula, though maybe only on the Mexico feed of that station. It’s unclear if they’ll continue to air. TV Mexiquense has a video internet feed that does not appear to be regionblocked, so it is possible people will be able to watch live or record it.

Lucha Libre London is running a fundraiser for Silver King’s funeral costs. They’ve since deleted the tweet from their Twitter.

YoDeportivo has interviews with Dragon Rojo, Misterioso Jr., and Black Taurus about Silver King. Taurus says Silver King had tried to convince him to go on the trip to work as King’s opponent. Misterioso, who was trained by Silver King’s father, is very critical about how the situation was handled.

Estrellas del Ring has video of the AAA press conference for Verano de Escandalo in Merida. They didn’t announce thing beyond the usual names.

ROH says CMLL wrestlers will be part of their 08/09 (Friday) show in Toronto. That’s one of a number of shows piggybacking off of WWE running SummerSlam that Sunday in Toronto.

Metalico is still talking about turning tecnico maybe.

Segunda Caida watches some Los Brazos vs Gran Markus, Pierroth and Ulises matches.

LuchaTalk has their first ever draft.

Net Noticias talks about Arena Kalaka.
