There are CMLL promos from Los Ingobernables & Mr. Niebla talking about their win, Barbaro Cavernario & Forastero talking about their title match and Amapola and Kaho seemingly setting up one of their own. That definitely came off as the start of a sequence, but the women happen to be off the show the day the NJPW wrestler is booked.

+Lucha has media room promos from Los Guerreros, Caristico, Diamante Azul, the rudas, the tecnicas, Terrible, the Chavez Brothers, Cavernario, and Forastero, who wants a singles title to put with his trios one.

Not a good show at all. Forastero & Cavernario was missing something but they were definitely trying. You could say that for some of the other matches too, but the top ones were just guys trying to get thru the night and get on to the next show as easy as possible. The match times were shorter than usual but it wasn’t like more time would’ve fixed the issues. Maybe it’ll be better if they’re trying to impress people with Naito around.

AAA’s Verano de Escandalo will take place in Merida on 06/16 (Sunday) according to this commercial. Lucha Noticias picked up on this first I saw. AAA ran Merida last year after a six-year break. Verano de Escandalo was held in Monterrey last year, who got Rey de Reyes this year.

No AAA TV taping this weekend. The Crash is running tonight in Tijuana, with Dragon Lee versus Rey Horus as the main event. Negro Casas teams with Felino & Cavernario against Rebelion Amarilla in what will be Garza Jr.’s last night with the promotion and Bandido defends The Crash cruiserweight championship in a four-way with Flamita, Jonathan Gresham and Shane Strickland (who also is done with here after this match.)

On Sunday, Kaoz has a five-way match with Hechicero, Mephisto, Mr. Aguila, Zorro and Garza in Arena Coliseo Monterrey, which is Zorro’s return to the promotion and Garza’s farewell in his hometown. He’s scheduled for a couple of matches in the next couple of weeks but it is possible that’ll be it until he starts with WWE. A little closer to me, GALLI has a loaded show with Aeroboy versus Fenix plus Drago & Rey Horus vs Gringo Loco & Golden Dragon. I don’t think I’m making that one after all so hopefully one of the eight (?) other people recording it will put it up somewhere.

Rush vs Dalton Castle is official for the ROH & NJPW MSG show. I wonder if getting a MSG match was part of the deal to get Rush to sign.

Imperio Oaxaca has an article about the local lucha libre championships:

  • Super Aguila, who is now Rey Aguila, is the Oaxaca State Welterweight Champion
    • there are no other recognized Oaxaca State titles because there is no Oaxaca state lucha libre commission
  • El Practicante & Chockmah are the Oaxaca City Tag Team Champions
  • Endeavor & Principe Condor are the Mexico State Indie Tag Team Champions, but the titles are not being defended due to issues between themselves and a promoter
  • La Sonadora is the Oaxaca City Women’s champion
  • There’s an Oaxaca City Light Heavyweight championship but it is currently vacant
  • all the other titles are local arena titles or made up.

Lineups

2) Black Panther, Blue Panther Jr., Drone vs Kawato San, Tiger, Virus
3) Esfinge, Flyer, Tritón vs Felino, Rey Bucanero, Templario
4) Dragón Lee, Místico, Titán vs Cuatrero, Negro Casas, Sansón
5) Cavernario © vs Forastero [MEX LH]
first defense
6) Carístico, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Naito, Rush, Terrible [Relevos Increíbles]

This is show is a miscommunication comedy where the CMLL side is trying to look good for the serious NJPW visitors (a title match! Bestia del Ring & Diamante Azul stuffed into a closet somewhere!) while the NJPW just wants to get in some vacation time while they’re on this side of the world and do not care at all. The show looks better than usual at any rate. The top three all having strong promise and the worst people all have the night off.
