H2L interviews, LU, AAA in Tijuana and upcoming schedule

Yesterday’s CMLL press interviews included the Homenaje a Dos Leyendas interviews. The Chavez brothers think they can win tomorrow because they have much better tecnico skills than La Bestia del Ring & Terrible and Niebla Roja still knows all the rudo tricks from his time as an evildoer. Their key to the match is not to be tricked by heels, but they figure Terrible & La Bestia wouldn’t risk an illegal move in a match this big.

Terrible & La Bestia del Ring say they’re completely ready for the match, and there’s nothing that can scare or intimidate them at this point. Bestia believes the Chavez have been lucky to this point but their luck will run out, and that they’ve been preparing new moves for the big match. Terrible says they’ll use any trick they can to win and don’t care if Angel de Oro & Niebla Roja complain about it.

There was also an interview with Los Guerreros, who just talked about how they’re going to keep the titles.

LA Park told people on Twitter that he was only wrestling in Arena Puebla for CMLL and not Arena Mexico or a surprise H2L appearance.

El Planchitas writes Mr. Niebla was told he was gone for good from CMLL if he shows up drunk for a match. I 100% believe he was told that but I also believe he’s probably been told that before. There’s also a mention that Garza Jr. would be willing to go back to AAA if they paid him what he wanted, though not sign a contract because he feels he still can get into WWE.

Zacarias wants a mask versus mask with “bad copy” Gallito.

Atlantis was part of a campaign against digestive issues sponsored by Farmacias Similares (Dr. Simi.)

AAA’s Twitch stream announcement was a return of their Sin Mascaras show, with Adrian Mendoza and Arturo Rivera talking and telling stories. There’d been pretty constant social media comments for AAA to bring back Arturo Rivera since they left Televisa. AAA can’t really use him on Azteca and Rivera does not want to leave Televisa, so giving him an occasional streaming show is a good workaround.

Lucha Underground writers Chris Roach & Chris DeJospeh were interviewed on the Dalyxman YouTube channel. If you’ve heard other interviews with them, there was not much new here. They’re still hopeful (though not holding their breath) for LU to return for a season 5, so this wasn’t a point where they were revealing all the secrets or anything. The most revealing they got is saying they wish they had a few less stories in season 4 to give more time for in-ring matches, and that they never left the original Temple. There’s also a mention that the Pentagon/Marty match in Season 4 was supposed to end with a fire spot – they were teasing it in the lead-up – but Marty bled so much before the end that they thought it wasn’t a good idea or needed.

We still have no idea exactly when there will be any news on Lucha Underground’s future. DeJospeh and Roach encouraged fans to reach out to El Rey Network if they want to let them know they want it to continue.

There’s a benefit show for ex-CMLL Nosferatu’s young daughter in Morelos, who needs a second heart operation. Euforia, Misterioso, Felino, Soberano, and Stuka are wrestling on the show.

A Mexico City lucha libre licensing exam will take place on March 30th.

RIOT returns on May 4th.

This has an 8 pm start time. Time zones are especially confusing, but that means 10 pm Mexico City time, 11 pm US Central time, and sometime after midnight (and after NXT) if you are in the New York area for WrestleMania. I don’t think you’re getting a recap out of me that night but it is possible that people will want to go drinking and exciting New York things and I will just want to watch some flips.

Part of the joy of having a detailed lucha libre database is I can tell you that EMW Middleweight title was last defended 2017. Part of the despair is actually knowing that. I have no idea why they’re defending the local title no one cares about over the national title no one cares about. Or why there are two cage matches. But they have set up a situation where I can stop paying attention to this show around 2 AM because that last half of the card looks not at all important.

The 4:20 Brothers (Kamik-C & Skalibur) will face Jonathan & Cosmico is the dark match and not on the poster. The second match is definitely part of the show and should be crazy. Some of those people, maybe all of those people, are actually under some sort of AAA deal even if they’re hardly ever used.

AAA also quietly added a bunch of previously unannounced TV taping dates to their upcoming events page. This is the full upcoming schedule announced so far

  • 03/16 (Saturday) Puebla – Rey de Reyes
  • 04/05 (Friday) Tijuana
  • 04/26 (Friday) Mexicali – new
  • 04/28 (Sunday) Nogales
  • 05/03 (Friday) Los Mochis – new
  • 05/05 (Sunday) Hermosillo – new
  • 05/18 (Saturday) Tuxtla Gutierrez
  • 05/25 (Saturday) Queretaro
  • 06/07 (Friday) Saltillo

That seems too many. Maybe some get changed or canceled.

They really had to run one show in about 5 week span and it was during WrestleMania weekend far away from WrestleMania. They had to do it. Poor Aerostar & Drago flying out early that morning from New York all the way to Tijuana.
