mediocre CMLL show tonight, Bandido/Dragon Lee/Ishimori at MSG

Tonight’s CMLL show does not seem promising. It’s the final show before Homenaje a Dos Leyendas, so nothing is likely to happen. It is also a show with not much in the way of promising matches.

The main event has one more lead-up trios match, with Angel de Oro & Niebla Roja taking on Los Ingobernables. Caristico acts as the third man tonight. The semi-main has a lukewarm Diamante Azul versus Gilbert el Boricua. They haven’t looked good the trios matches prior; a singles match between them seems a poor idea. These two matches figure to air on CMLL’s return to Televisa on Saturday and don’t seem like a strong start.

NGD facing Atlantis, Dragon Lee and Valiente is the best chance for a good match. Titan, Triton, and Esfinge take on the Shocker, Rey Bucanero and Vangellys in a bad match-up. Rey Cometa, Fuego, and Star Jr. face Virus, Kawato, and Tiger. Stigma & Oro Jr. versus Nitro & Sangre Azteca in an opener to skip.

The show starts at 8:30 pm. This is the last 8:30 pm Friday night start for a month. It airs on Marca (currently geo-blocked) &  Facebook (no link yet.) I’ll probably stream it on YouTube.

Lucha Central has a preview of the show.

Ultimo Guerrero wants matches with Ciber, Gilbert, and then Caristico.

Today is International Women’s Day, so there’s a lot of interviews with luchadoras and women in wrestling. Marisela Pena is interviewed by Zocalo, mentions her aunt was married to Espectro. ABC Noticias talks to Rossy Moreno & Lady Apache, who reveals she wanted to be a gym teacher. El Universal talks to Marcela, who talks about the struggle of starting her wrestling career while being a young mother. El Popular has an interview with new Puebla luchadora Galactica, who wrestles in honor of her parents.

Dragon Lee is off the 03/16 AAW show. It appears he’s doing an autograph signing for Mucha Lucha Atlanta instead.

The Bandido vs Dragon Lee vs Taiji Ishimori title match is now official for the 04/06 ROH/NJPW show. The story here is Ishimori wanted to defend the title on this show and called out anyone from ROH to face him. He got Dragon Lee, who said he was representing CMLL but wanted the match. And he got Bandido, who saw Dragon Lee challenge, noted he wasn’t represented ROH and offered to do that himself.

It was earlier this year when Dragon Lee was rumored to be going to Ring of Honor, but he’s very specifically not representing ROH in this match. It did seem like there was something to the Dragon Lee/ROH story a few months ago, but talk of it happening has died off.

Misterioso talks about how he got into wrestling, and his goals (a match with Ultimo Guerrero)

MexaWrestling in Arena San Juan on 04/06 (MextlerCon):

Jaynes was added to the women’s match

The Crash in Tijuana on 03/23

LuchaWorld has the latest Lucha Report, including a recap of a Hijo del Fantasma interview where he talks about his lawsuits against Lucha Underground.
