Chavez & Volador versus Ingobernables tonight, AAA back on Twitch Sunday

CMLL continues to check off the days until Homenaje a Dos Leyendas with an average Friday night card. The lightning match should be worth checking out later and the main event will at least be heated. The build to the double hair match has Angel de Oro & Niebla Roja teaming with Volador this week, against the full Los Ingobernables trio. It is going to be weird to have Rush being the least important person in the team with Terrible & La Bestia del Ring, but that is the current situation.

Ciber the Main Man and The Chris will make their first appearances on a CMLL stream in months in the semi-main. CMLL started dropping the members of the CL4N one by one at the end of September and early October. Zorro/Chris was the last one around back on October 12, and it did not seem a certainty they would be back. Their performances weren’t great – which seems to matter more if you’re an outsider and not tenured – and paring them with old friend (and possible 4th Cl4n member) Gilbert isn’t really going to help. They face Caristico, Valiente, and Diamante Azul.

Titan, fresh off last week’s great match, gets another singles match chance against Templario. This will be only shorter because of the ten-minute time limit, but still should be fun. Flyer, Rey Cometa and Audaz take on Hechicero, Felino and Vangellys. Princesa Sugehit, Kaho Kobayashi and La Jarochita face Dalys, Tiffany, and Metalica, which could follow up on the recent Jarochita/Dalys issue but probably won’t. Robin & Astral open against Grako & Coyote, in a match that might actually be decent (for an opener.)

This show starts at 8:30 pm stream on Marca and Facebook. I will try to stream the show on YouTube but expect it to be joined in progress if I can do it at all.

Lucha Central has a preview of the show.

Caristico says he turned the business around 360 degrees in 2006. OK.

AAA returns to Twitch for their final show prior to Rey de Reyes. They’re in Monterrey, home of Multimedios, so perhaps there will be a bit of promotion of that TV show along the way. The show has 6:45 pm CT on the poster – a little bit after AAA finishes airing locally – and that probably means somewhere around a 7:30 pm actual start.

I am not sure what the actual main event of this taping is. It is AAA, you can’t be sure of quite anything, but there are two different posters for this card. There’s the one AAA is using and then the one the local promoter is using which has a Blue Demon Jr. vs La Parka vs Dr. Wagner match in tribute to Perro Aguayo Junior. It would look very weird for the local promoter to promote that match and it not to happen, so maybe it’ll be announced during the show. Or maybe it will just be weird.

The show otherwise looks fine, with nothing really standing out but nothing really hopeless either. Psycho & Aerostar continue their feuds with Rey Escorpion & Monsther Clown. Pagano & Chessman round out that match. Brian Cage, Laredo Kid, and Hijo del Vikingo make for a unique team, facing Texano, Taurus and Hijo del Fantasma. That match seems like the best bet on the upper half of the crowd, though Los Mercenarios haven’t always been delivering.

Poder del Norte face Los Exoticos, in a city where Pimpinela traditionally gets a lot of support. Monterrey is also Lady Maravilla’s hometown, which makes it a bit of surprise she’s not scheduled on the card to distract Nino Hamburguesa. Perhaps she’ll be the luchador(a) sorpresa, who is scheduled to team with Jack Evans & Australian Suicide again Golden Magic, Myzteziz Jr., and Nino Hamburguesa. The show opens up with Lady Shani, Dinastia and Starfire against Faby Apache, Keyra and Villano III Jr., who seems consigned to being in every mixed match this year.

Again, the show is listed as starting at 6:45, which means the first match might be 7:15 or 7:30. Use your judgment. The show will stream on Twitch definitely in Spanish. AAA’s also said every show will stream in English going forward, though been little talk of it since. I have no idea who will be teaming with Vampiro with Suicide (& Jack) wrestling. What if they just put Vampiro in a box for two and half hours?

There’s only one Rey de Reyes match announced: Lucha Brothers versus Texano & Rey Escorpion for the tag team titles. They probably need more than one match. They probably need a lot more. AAA ran Fantasma/Texano in part to have a big match for last year’s Rey de Reyes. I have no idea what would fit in that spot this year – maybe Mascara/Maximo, but it doesn’t seem particularly close. La Mascara isn’t currently on the AAA card to set it up, though they could always add him. Monsther/Aerostar could also be made, though I’m not sure if that would really mean much. This would be the show to do something for Rey de Reyes but I’m also not sure that’ll happen. The card should be out early next week regardless.

I’m going to The Crash on Saturday, so I guess should write about that. It looks very much like a The Crash card. The heavyweight title being in the main event is novel, but Willie Mack, Cavernario, Austin Theory, and Sanson is an appropriately weird mix of people. Sabu and Damian pick up a feud from about 2001, with Bestia, Garza and the Traumas also there to brawl into the crowd. (Wait, I’m going to be in the crowd, this is concerning.) Diamante Azul & Jeff Cobb take on Hechicero & Michael Elgin in another unusual mix of heavyweights, just after the slightly small CMLL micros have their own tag match. I don’t know if it’ll turn up in good quality anywhere else but I’m looking forward to seeing it.

If I wasn’t going to Mexico, I’d be able to use my ticket for MLW Saturday night. Laredo Kid & Black Taurus debut for the promotion against Penta & Fenix, with LA Park, Hijo de LA Park, Puma King, and Daga also booked.

MexaWrestling says their next show is on 04/06, with Christi Jaynes, Lady Flammer and Metaleon announced.

5) Atlantis, Flyer, Stuka Jr. vs Felino, Hechicero, Templario
6) Místico, Soberano Jr., Titán vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Negro Casas

Negro Casas returns, though that always seems tentative. Luciferno getting a singles match with Blue Panther might be a dream for him.

7) Ricky Marvin & Súper Crazy vs Dark Cuervo & Dark Scoria [submission]

This looks a lot like a Montanez show with a different promotion name. Cuervo & Scoria never struck me as winning many matches by submission, but perhaps we’ll all be amazed.

MDA (SUN) 03/17/2019 Arena Naucalpan
1) Lilith Dark & Toto vs Dulce Luna & Mexica
2) El Hijo del Medico Asesino vs Canek Jr.Capo del NorteHijo del AlebrijeDiablo Jr.Golden MagicBrazo De Oro Jr.Karonte Jr. [La Rebelion de los Juniors]

5) Freelance vs Audaz (CMLL)
6) Aramis vs Ángel de Oro
7) Dragón Bane vs Soberano Jr.
8) Laredo Kid vs Imposible

MDA makes their solo debut in Arena Naucalpan after running there previously with Elite and Lucha Memes. A lot of singles matches is their bit, and maybe a little too many tecnicos. Dragon Bane and Soberano are good but maybe not against each other; Aramis & Angel de Oro and Freelance & Audaz may do better. Always nice to see Imposible get a chance at a showcase match.
