Negro Casas will give an update on his rehabilitation from surgery today on Informa. CMLL also said they’ll announce the final two matches for Homenaje a Dos Leyendas and talk about the TV situation. Los Guerreros are said to be announcing a surprise on that show, which might be their match for the H2L.

No additional details came out of the CMLL press conference. CMLL wrestlers, Julio Cesar Rivera, and Sofia Alonso were on Televisa Deportes shows yesterday to promote the return to the network. I haven’t seen any mentions of any details about the show yet. There is a rumor that Televisa may assign Arturo Rivera to the CMLL show, which he would hate and CMLL wouldn’t be fond of either. That would seem like Televisa trying to get out of whatever deal they have Rivera if it happened, but these TV networks don’t think too much about who would fit as announcers.

AAA put up the first week of the Mexico City taping on YouTube, the first taping of 2019 to make it on their YouTube channel. The episodes will start popping up on Sundays evening after the Multimedios show airs going forward.

Arena Coliseo Acapulco will host a wrestling show for the first time in 4 years tomorrow. A show headlined by Blue Demon & Flamita versus Rey Fenix & Penta 0M scheduled for a different venue was moved back to the old traditional venue. The Arena Coliseo in Acapulco was built in 1953. The Lutteroth family owned the building, just like they the four buildings they still run every week. Acapulco was the Wednesday night stop on that weekly calendar, with a couple matches worth of people sent. Attendance fell in the late 90s and early 2000s, and the building was sold in 2006. There have been infrequent shows there since, as well as a failed attempt to use it as a basketball venue. It would be surprising if they made it work this time but the lucha libre scene in that city seems stronger than it has been in the recent past.

El Universal has a very short article on actor Daniel Martinez joining AAA. Martinez, as Eclipse Vengador, is the lead star of the Por La Mascara series which has been airing next to AAA on Space. Way back when the show started airing in October, there was hype of the character eventually crossing over to the ring, to the point that I thought this might be an old article just resurfacing. There’s not been much mention of the show since it started airing. I guess he could be the mystery person in Monterrey but I’m skeptical of this story.

02/28 in Pittsburgh has Penta & Fenix versus Sam Adonis & DJZ.

Segunda Caida watches Ultimo Guerrero vs Corsario Negro Jr.

LuchaWorld has the latest Lucha Report

+LuchaTV has a sit-down interview with Hijo del Fantasma. That seems like it might be worth listening to later.

Tinieblas Sr. says he has sold all the trophies he won in his career because he does not like keeping memories. A documentary of his life is supposed to come out in June.

A report on La Gran Lucha, a show in Argentina featuring wrestlers Titanes en el Ring & 100% Lucha.

A story on a lucha libre school in Oaxaca.

  1. Wow, La Coliseo De Acapulco!!!…i remember that one of the worst riots in lucha was when Tiger Jeet Singh went there, it was a crazy history…also, Box y Lucha always posted pictures of the guys on the beach having fun before matches…

On other issue, i hope Daniel Martinez does not get injured badly…and i can’t wait till Rudo Rivera says everyday is Happy Sofia Day!

  2. Regarding Penta and Fenix you gotta wonder if Televisa will tell CMLL that anyone on AAA television won’t make television on Televisa.

Televisa seems so triggered that I can see them using that tactic again.
