This wasn’t as good as last Sunday. 3rd and 6th matches were the ones to watch. The Cruiserweight change is important – Laredo Kid has gone from an extra guy brought in as part of the Elite bit to winning two championships and a tournament in the last few months due to timing and availability – but everything else is skippable.

There was no real mention of the oddness of Jeff Jarrett being back here after being on WWE TV. Jarrett was treated as normal. He even hit Wagner with his guitar. It did not feel like they were writing him off, even though everyone seems sure he’d have to be with WWE full time after this point. Guess we’ll see.

I think this might be the end of Sammy Guevera in AAA too. Maybe he’ll show up at TripleMania again as an AEW representative, but my impression is the relationship between AAA & Guevera isn’t great. Guevera spit on the belt and threw in the ring at the end of the match, which seemed a spot to cement his rudo turn, but I’m not betting on it being followed up on.

Konnan reported the show as 4,600 sellout. Konnan was in Las Vegas for Impact while this taping was happening and may not have seen this show yet. It looked like there were empty areas from what I saw.

At least 10 times as many people were watching the Spanish feed as the English feed, which is around the same ratio it’s been for most of the broadcasts. That meant less than 400 people were listening Vampiro & Australian Suicide watch the show, a number so small in comparison to all of the people who will watch it in Spanish (both live and on the various TV networks) that I’m not even sure why I’m writing a paragraph about it. It was exactly as good as expected, with Australian Suicide getting in funny lines but getting no help from Vampiro. If AAA is doing English commentary just as something to check off a list (or to put in press releases), then what they’re doing is sufficient. If AAA is doing English commentary to grow a fanbase in the US, they’ve got to do a lot better than what they’re doing. My assumption is it is the first option and so Vampiro will keep being the host because he’s already at the taping and they don’t want to invest any more in it.

The plan is for the English broadcast to be a part of show going forward. Vampiro promoted that fact by saying the next show would be on 03/03 from “Monterrey, Nuevo Laredo” (it is in Nuevo Leon) and would be Rey de Reyes (which is actually the following show.)
