Tiffany replaced Amapola. Straight falls for the second straight weeks, but this time the rudas lost by DQ when Dalys unmasked La Jarochita.

Stuka replaced Diamante Azul earlier in the week. Rudos took 2/3.
6) Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Volador Jr. b Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón LUCHA LIBRE MARTES DE NUEVOS VALORES EN LA ARENA MEXICO 12 DE FEBRERO DE 2019 FUNCION COMPLETA (posted by VideosOficialesCMLL)
Diamante Azul replaced Atlantis Jr. earlier in this week. The monkey flip senton appears to now be known as “Catapulta TNT”. Tecnicos took 2/3, the last when Diamante Azul gave Sanson a German suplex. Sanson needed medical attention afterward.

There was no doctor video on Sanson’s injury, which hopefully means it is nothing. Diamante Azul has hurt people with the German suplex before. It’s a great thing Niebla Roja won his block instead of Azul.

CMLL promos have Flyer talking about his win (and saying he’s 100%) and Jarochita & Dalys teasing a match. Any new feud is a good idea.

In a media interview, Tiffany challenged the former Sexy Star to show up in Arena Mexico if she isn’t scared. This is mostly to build up their match in Monterrey’s KAOZ promotion this Sunday, where Tiffany is a champion and Sexy Dulce never loses. I would prefer not to see Sexy Dulce in CMLL but she does fit in with other wrestlers they’ve brought in the last year so it is not something to rule out.

CMLL (TUE) 02/12/2019 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Joker, Mágico, Mr. Samurai b Gran Kenut, Maléfico, Mr. Apolo
tecnicos took 1/3
2) Guerrero de la Muerte, Metálico, Sangre Azteca b Magnus, Robin, Vaquero Jr.
rudos took 1/3
3) Misterioso Jr., Templario, Virus b Drone, El Audaz, Rey Cometa
Misterioso replaced Hechicero. Rudos took 1/3.
4) Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Terrible b Kráneo, Soberano Jr., Valiente
rudos took 2/3.
5) La Bestia Del Ring, Místico, Rush b Gran Guerrero, Mephisto, Último Guerrero [Relevos Increíbles]
Munoz took 2/3, Rush getting help to beat Ultimo Guerrero. That sets up a singles match next week.

Rush went from Lakeland, Florida to Miami to Puebla to Guadalajara. Hopefully, he has less travel for a couple of days. The ROH/CMLL balance is going to be tough.

Add Texano to the list of wrestlers suing Lucha Underground. His is a separate lawsuit, looking for money he would’ve gotten if he wasn’t stuck under contract, exactly the same as the Fantasma lawsuit. Lucha Central says he has not joined the lawsuit looking for release, though it seems likely he will. A difference here is Texano did not work Season 4. If he was getting paid only when he wrestled on shows, which seems like the case for everyone so far, Texano has not gotten paid by Lucha Underground since June of 2016. Texano was to be part of Lucha Underground Season 4 – my impression is he wanted to work the shows and LU wanted him there – but Texano was one of the wrestlers unable to make it to the US because his visa was not approved in time. That means LU kept Texano under contract – and, in theory, kept him from finding another promotion to work for – while they were also not using him or paying him at all because of their own inability to bring him to their tapings.

I missed this from earlier this week: Apolo Valdes was told Jeff Jarrett is still appearing on Saturday’s AAA TV taping, even though he’s started with WWE. That is weird, though not for AAA & Jarrett. AAA themselves hasn’t said anything, so I would assume most people are assuming it is AAA promoting an out of date lineup like always. AAA would be in their best interest to post a Jarrett promo saying he’ll be in Morelia if they think Jarrett is going to be a difference maker.

AAA held a press event to officially announce their deal to air on Multimedios last night. AAA’s been on the channel for about a month now, though this was official roll out. There was a chance AAA had only been using Multimedios as a stop gap between Televisa & Azteca but the press conference suggests they’re together for a least this year. There was no real news, though it looks like they might have had a couple of matches similar to the Azteca bit last week. Space, Twitch, YouTube, and Multimedios are all getting the same exact episodes of AAA, where the only difference is Multimedios is inserting their own local commentary track. (They appeared to be turning down the actual audio and inserting fake crowd noise last time I checked – maybe AAA hadn’t given them a commentary free version.)

The network order of the episodes is currently:

  1. AAA airs live on Twitch (each taping is long enough to be 2 episodes but may be cut down to 1)
  2. Space airs the TV version get the episode first, which may be weeks/months after it happens
  3. YouTube (& formerly Televisa) get the episode the second week
  4. Multimedios gets the episode the third week (and are uploading it on their YouTube channel)

One of the big questions going into Friday is where Azteca fits in that sequence. Are they paying money but only getting the Televisa spot? Does that money mean they’re first and Space is second? Or the same week? It is noticeable that the last episode of AAA up on YouTube was the Christmas Day show. The first 2019 episode should have gone up this weekend. It could have been delayed because it now has to air on Azteca first. Or it could have been delayed because running two tapings in a weekend does not leave a lot of time for YouTube uploads.

That press conference was actually held by both Multimedios and MedioTiempo, who partnered up over the weekend. MedioTiempo was introduced as a media partner of AAA, so expect lucha libre coverage to be a lot more focused on AAA and less so on CMLL/WWE going forward. This follows Record being a semi-official outlet for AAA news and +Lucha having multiple people working double duty with AAA.

On that note, tickets went on sale for AAA’s taping in Monterrey (03/03), and the local promoter was hyping Hugo, Jesus Zuniga, and Bernado Guzman as the announcers for the show. Zuniga was on Televisa and has been quiet about his current AAA situation. Guzman was a host of the Televisa Deportes’ Zona Ruda show. Neither are on air with AAA at the moment.

AEW’s Tony Khan was on Chris Jericho’s podcast this morning. AAA only came out as if that is the promotion Penta & Fenix belong to (which is maybe something you’re encouraged to say if you’re doing a deal with AAA even if it is not that accurate.)  Jericho mentioned Konnan knowing a lot of guys “no one’s ever heard of” in Mexico, which means he’s in the same position as always. You can see this also with WWE people openly asking for help finding prospects in Mexico; there are not a lot of people trusted to provide information about Mexican wrestlers to people outside the scene, so the few people who do have some power. (My consulting fee remains unchanged.)

The Crash on 03/02

Mack missed the last show replacing Flip Gordon on the Ring of Honor shows. There’s no ROH show on 03/02 at least. The Crash put up a couple of vignettes from the show, one with Austin Theory & Cavernario arguing over who should get the title shot when Bestia points out he’s still owed one. (Bestia was supposed to get that one last March.) Also, Carlito & Mesias again tried to get MechaWolf to join team Puerto Rico.

A reason to keep an eye of IWRG is they usually produce at least one notable rookie a year. They don’t always catch on beyond IWRG, but it does seem part of the IWRG booking philosophy (??) to have someone new rise to the top every year. I’m not sure who it’ll be in 2019, though maybe this tournament will give an idea. Brazo de Oro Jr. is obviously a big name. Latino is part of the Munoz family. Neza Kid is Freelance’s son. Diablo Jr. has been around forever and shouldn’t really be a rookie. The winning team will get a tag title shot at some point.

One thought to “AAA/Multimedios, CMLL Tuesday results, Jarrett”

  1. I watched most of Tuesday’s Arena Mexico show. I like Difunto. He has some personality, and he didn’t appear to be nervous. Overall, he was good. What I have noticed is Espanto Jr. can be a little stiff with his hits and seems very aggressive, in particular, that corner kick he gave Astral. That could’ve hurt Astral pretty bad had it fully connected.
