1) Chico Che, Demasiado, Homero Simpson b Diva Salvaje, Mike, Ñoño
2) Auzter, Baby Star, Fly Warrior, Juve Venegas, Príncipe Aéreo, Tromba, Yoruba b Amnesia, Arañita, Fandango, Freelance, Hausser, Máscara Mágica Jr., Vaquero
Baby Star beat Maascaa Magica Jr.
3) Keyra b Lady FlammerZeuxisDiosa QuetzalHija De Gatubela
Keyra beat Diosa Quetzal. After the match, Keyra said she was the best indie luchadora but now it was time for her to leave so someone else could fight for that spot.
4) Amnesia, Fly Star, Gato De Ecatepec b Demus, Diablo Jr., Fantasma de la Ópera
Lucha Memes comedy wrestler Gato snuck in a foul to win, then challenged Demus to put his hair on the line.
5) Fulgor I, Fulgor II, Metaleón, Mr. Leo b Alas de Acero, Impulso, Iron Kid
No Belial, so this was a 4 vs 3
6) Alan Extreme & Centvrión b Loco Max & Ricky Marvin
Loco Max praised his opponents and asked for a shot at Centvrion’s title
7) Flamita b Rey Horuz
good match
8) Carístico, Dragón Bane, Templario b Aramis, Arkángel Divino, Toxin
Templario replaced Audaz. Arkangel Divino suffered a knee injury.

Caristico made both shows, though Audaz did not make any. Templario is a strong fill in. Flamita/Horuz sounds like the best match. Turnout seemed good. I have no idea if Lucha Memes/LLB or MexaWrestling won this War of Styles but I’m guessing a lot of this is on YouTube early

Aramis and Toxin said they’re forming a team called ‘Mextasis’. I don’t know if Aramis is making a wise decision becoming Toxin’s tag partner after what he did to his last tag partner.

Centvrion’s championship was, I think, the CUT/Arena Revolution tag team championship he holds with Fly Warrior. Loco Max just wants a belt.

Keyra seemed like she was talking around a AAA deal – I guess there’s a chance that could be part of the announcements they’re making on Monday. I do not think it was a WWE deal; Dragon Bane mentioned in an interview at the show that he was still waiting to hear back, and I don’t think anyone else has either. WWE has other people to worry about at the moment. It is odd to have her win in her farewell while also talking about no one she’s leaving behind is on her level but no one really thinks about it like that.

IWRG (TUE) 01/01/2019 Arena Naucalpan [+LuchaTV, The Gladiatores]
IWRG 23rd Anniversary
1) Güero Palma, Marduk, Taurino L Divino, Juan Diego, Kid Jaguar and Flyman, Flyman II, Gallito Colorado and Manchitas, Psique, Puercules and Atomic Star, Chicanito, Death Metal [cage]
LLB (Jaguar) vs Gym Zeus (Marduk) vs Zaetas del Ring (Flyman) vs Lucha Memes (Psique). Atomic Star took Guero Palma’s hair.
2) Dragón Bane © b Rey Horus [IWRG REY DEL AIRE, cage] CAMPEONATO REY DEL AIRE EN IWRG (posted by EL RING)
5th defense
3) Oficial 911 & Oficial AK47 b Capo del Norte & Capo del Sur © and Karaoui & Zumbi © [cage, IWRG IC TAG, TWS TAG]
IWRG IC TAG (Capos) vs TWS TAG (Cancun, Karaoui/Zumbi) vs Oficials (hair). Capos fall on their first defense, losing the titles to the Oficials. The TWS Tag titles apparently do not change hands.
4) Leo & Mike b Dinamic Black & Eragón and Ra-Zhata & Shil-Kah and Freelance & Relámpago [cage, #1 Contenders, IWRG IC TAG]
Leo & Mike earn a shot at the Oficials.
5) Máscara Año 2000 Jr. b Toscano [cage, hair, bull terrier]
Mascara took Toscano’s hair. A chain match in a cage.

The all cage match show drew nothing special; it feels like a lot of lucha libre where it is done just because people have seen other people do it, not because they’ve seen other people to do it and it being a success. It is a little sad to see Toscano, who was a genuine star in wrestling for an extended period of time, losing his hair on shows like this. And also to a guy who is never going to be a bigger star for it. But Toscano has been at this level for a while.

It is back to being slow for a couple days until things get back to normal on Friday.

Heraldo de Mexico has an interview with Zacarias & Gallito about going from mascots to luchadors. Gallito says he started out working as Splinter to a group of ninja turtles, was promised pay but did not get it, and Gallo got him into CMLL.

Lineups

2) Magnus & Oro Jr. vs Espanto Jr. & Espíritu Negro
3) Blue Panther Jr., Guerrero Maya Jr., Stuka Jr. vs Hechicero, Rey Bucanero, Shocker
4) Titán vs FlyerTritónEsfingeRey CometaDroneBlack PantherAudazTemplarioVirusSagradoPólvoraKawato SanVangellysTigerUniverso 2000 Jr. [Reyes del Aire]
5) Carístico, Dragón Lee, Volador Jr. vs Cuatrero, Sansón, Último Guerrero

CMLL is running a star-heavy show on Three King’s Day, though the big match turns out to be Reyes del Aire instead of anything built up. There was no 2018 Reyes del Aire, and the 2017 winner was Angel de Oro. The rudo depth drops off real quick on this one but it should still be pretty good.

This would be a great show to stream, but maybe it’ll turn up on NJPW World at some point.

  1. Is there an Over/Under on how many dives, if any, Kawato San will miss or catch before he’s eliminated?
