Santo Jr., micros, Alberto, indie in-fighting, Castillo del Terror

I’ve got no news about Lucha Va Voom but their poster for tonight’s show is cool.

DTU is running tonight in Arena Aficion, with La Secta (Cuervo/Scoria) vs Los Macizos (Ciclope/Miedo Extremo) vs Kaleth/Tibruon (not the Acapuclo one.) Aeroboy and Jimmy meet in a singles match.

The Tirantes promoted Thursday shows originally scheduled in Arena Xalapa are resuming in the same town, only in a building called Salon Bazar. Tonight’s main event is a unique Penta vs Sanson vs Mr. Niebla three-way match. In AAA originally, and then later in Lucha Underground, “Pentagon Jr.” is billed as from Xalapa. The actual person is not from Xalapa, the idea is he’s Octagon’s rival and Octagon is from rival city Veracruz. I’m not sure Pentagon has wrestling much in Xalapa lately and I wonder if he gets any extra reaction from fans who believe he’s a local wrestler come home.

Hijo del Santo told Diario Basta that Santo Jr. will debut in Mexico City in early 2019, perhaps on a special Todo x el Todo show. Santo Jr. has not been on a poster I’ve seen since June and appears to only have wrestled three times this year. That debut has been pushed back in the past.

CMLL micros Microman, Guapito, Mije, and Zacarias were scheduled to main event Arena Mexico Rayos de Plata in San Luis Potosi. (You may remember this group having a TV show for about a year, and then a reality show around the promoters for a year.) It sounds like a lot of people turned out to see the CMLL micros. They didn’t get to see all of the main event.  Zacarias was banned from wrestling by the new president of sports in San Luis Potosi for medical reasons. There was no medical report or doctor saying Zacarias was too hurt to wrestle, the president just looked at him and decided it was a no go. There’s a lot of local politics hinted at in that article – this guy has been in charge just since the start of the month – so it’s unclear if Zacarias is really that hurt.

Alberto el Patron will have an MMA fight in Combate Americas in March 2019. Maybe. Alberto both claims it’s happening and talks about “if it happens” in an interview with Milenio, committal without committing. He hopes to do 10-12,000 people and a gate of 25 million but does not have an opponent yet. He says he’s considering three people. In an amazing coincidence, he was also considering three people for his TripleMania match when doing an interview for that. The difference here is names one he’d like: CM Punk, since he feels they’d do millions on PPV. Alberto and Punk don’t seem like they’d be in the same weight class. Alberto says he’ll make his decision in two months. He’d probably have to decide by the end to be ready for a fight in March.

Mexa Wrestling has been announcing luchadors, though not yet matches, for its Season 2 debut show in December. Tuesday, they announced Alas de Acero would be debuting for the promotion. Wednesday, Mexa Wrestling announced Alas de Acero was off the show due, claiming he had personal problems on that day. They were suspicious. Another unnamed wrestler also canceled on them – and that wrestler said PALL (and specifically Lucha Memes’ Daniel Ledesma and Lucha Libre Boom’s Fantasma de la Opera) told them they were blocked from working from Mexa Wrestling. This seems to fit with the story R de Rudo reported a couple weeks ago, where wrestlers getting benefits from PALL are only allowed to work for their related promotions. (R de Rudo has since noted their entire staff is banned from Lucha Memes shows for reporting that.) For its part, Mexa Wrestling is promising some sort of retribution. This probably won’t end well for anyone.

Blue Panther says he does not consider himself a legend of wrestling – because he has no idea what that is. He feels he’s still learning 40 years in.

Gimnasio Ranchero, the Torreon building where La Sombra among others wrestled his first match (and came back for an autograph signing as NXT champion), has been torn down. It’s temporary: they’re going to build a new Gimnasio Ranchero on the same site.

AAA posted some video to hype Heroes Inmortales:

AAA announced their lineup for 11/18 Ciudad Juarez show. There are no changes from what the local promoter announced previously.

California’s Paradox Wrestling is running its first show (at least under that name) on 11/03. Hope it goes great. They’re already advertising a follow-up show on 02/02/19. The poster has Bandido front and center. I’ve been told Bandido is not working that show. He has never actually been contacted to work that show.

Lucha Talk has a new episode.

Tijuana’s Dia de Muertos festivities will include an alter to dead luchadors.

The annual of Castle of Terror show also includes a performance by Michael Jackson impersonator Joe Jackson. Comando Elite member Spector popping up here since July makes him the most obvious loser, though all the ninja turtles are possible too. Dragon Bane or Aramis is going to do something borderline amazing/stupid off that cage.

Flyer’s been less visible in the last few weeks. This is his first streaming show this month, and he’s been off CMLL shows entirely since the first week of October.
