Guerreros regain the trios title and set up a cage match, AAA on Twitch Sunday night

CIber and Chris were really thrown by that dive

16:28. Guerreros cheated to win after stopping the Cl4n from doing the same. Cl4n lose the titles, falling on their first defense, the second straight champions to lose in their first defense. Guerreros Laguneros are the 30th champions. It’s the second time with this trio, UG’s 5th trios win, Euforia’s 3rd, and Gran Guerrero’s 2nd. UG challenged Ciber to a team vs team cage match, which Ciber said he’d think about.

CMLL promos: Guerreros Laguneros and Valiente.

Media room interviews: Hijo de LA Park, Soberano & Mistico (Box Y Lucha; Mistico wants a hair/mask match with Casas), Felino (Box Y Lucha, ), the Rudas (Box Y Lucha) and Los Guerreros.

This show was better than last week, though the first and last matches were still weak. Ultimo Guerrero seemed pretty definite about the cage match happening. Given the fast pace they’re moving, this seems like something scheduled for the Dia de los Muertos shows – maybe 11/02. Scharly would be the favorite to lose if there’s just one loser, and they could hold over Ciber/UG for next year’s Homenaje a Dos Leyendas.

Today, CMLL has Esfinge & Triton defending the Arena Coliseo tag titles against Polvora & Templario and RIOT running in Monterrey with Skayde. Sunday is a busy day: AAA streaming around 6:30pm, a Memes/PALL show in Coacalco, Fuerza Guerrera’s anniversary show, an IWRG trainees show, and MDA running in Monterrey.

Elite says the 10/11 AAA vs ELITE show is a TV taping (and a streaming show.) The card for that show has been out for a while, but it has not been listed as a taped show. AAA hasn’t confirmed it as one yet, but it would now be the next TV taping after Sunday’s show if it does air.

Mileno has an article framed as Lady Shani fighting against machismo. You can tell the writer of the article truly respects her as an athlete by talking about “her beauty and her imposing physique” and “her large and dazzling eyes” in the introductory paragraph, and never about specific wins or achievements she might have accomplished. Shani talks about fans treating luchadoras as if they’re only there to be an attractive woman. Lady Shani previously wrestled literally as “Sexy Lady”. Lady Shani is good at wrestling and should be respected for it but this article is garbage. Pretending things have changed when they haven’t really does no one any favors.

Psycho Clown said he’d be open to facing LA Park more if the fans want it, but he’d really like to finally win the AAA Mega Championship. He says he’s had four chances (which appears to be accurate!) and hasn’t gotten it done yet, but it remains a goal. The conundrum for AAA is if the goal for the Mega championship is to have many WON approved four-star matches, Psycho Clown’s probably not the guy to be champion, but Psycho Clown is The Guy in AAA and he should fighting for the main title or in a really hot feud if he’s the most important person. Coming off AAA, he’s not doing either, though there’s not a lot of direction for most people coming off TripleMania.

The finish of a Pagano/Murder Clown match last night might be worth watching. Strong defense by Pagano.

LLF’s show last night ended early when luchadora and ex-television personality Carola (Yessica Carola Rodríguez, 39) suffered head/neck injuries and was taken to the hospital. There are photos of the before and after on Facebook, it looks like plenty of people were there to catch the plancha, but perhaps she fell well short and landed on her face. The Arena LLF floors are cement, so that’s not a soft landing, and they had to stop the show to make sure got medical treatment. The RIOT show will still go on as planned tonight.

Ultimo Guerrero is listed as wresting in both Tijuana and Saltillo tonight. That’s not possible. He was still advertised at a press conference for the Saltillo show yesterday. The Tijuana show appears to be first time promoters, which is always a red flag. Aeroboy & Hijo de Fishman are also listed on the Tijuana show and elsewhere. Aeroboy interfered on the AKE show last night, so he’s probably working Tijuana.

Fuerza Guerrera is on a media tour to promote his anniversary show this Sunday. In Diaro Basta, Fuerza once again says the worst decision he ever made was jumping to AAA. He feels Antonio Pena stole money from him and the wrestler’s union. Fuerza says the contract he signed said the wrestlers would get 13.5% of the revenue from AAA’s deal with Televisa and Antonio Pena kept all the money. Guerrera would like to sue AAA to bring that document to life. Fuerza is sure he would’ve been a bigger star than Atlantis, Negro Casas and Caristico had he just stayed in CMLL and is grateful to Paco Alonso for allowing him back. Fuerza says he’s not thinking about retirement, but he also would like to have a retirement match in Arena Mexico. He’s not sure he’s deserving of the honor because of his jump to AAA and he’s hoping he’d be able to convince them to let him do it anyway.

Fuerza Guerrera did a similar interview with publimetro. In this one, Fuerza says a writer from Box Y Lucha came up with the mask design. At the time he started out (1978), Star Wars was very popular and he had the idea to call himself “Star War.” The commission said no, that they weren’t allowing anyone to get a license with an English language name. (“Top Secret”/Fantasma ran into the same issue.) They gave him a half hour to come up with a new name or no license, and he came up with Fuerza Guerrera.

Juventud Guerrera does not get a direct mention in either article, outside of Fuerza talking about his career taking time away from his family.

Expo Lucha announced they will be returning next year. Their 2019 show will be August 17th and 18th, this time in San Diego. Penta, Fenix, Shane Strickland, Bandido, Jeff Cobb, Brody King, Mr. Aguila, Demus, and Joey Ryan have been announced, though a lot can change by in 11 months. I wouldn’t hold them to those names even if they demanded it.

Zumbi promoted a The Crash show tonight in Tlaxcala, but The Crash hasn’t mentioned it.. I think it might have been canceled.

The Crash 10/21 show in Denver looks like it’ll have Rey Fenix vs Matt Sydal vs Flamita vs Bandido as the main event. The Crash’s announcer appears to be going to the show, so there’s a good chance it’ll stream.

Zeuxis is wrestling in New York on November 18th. Drago is in a week later.

The World vs Mexico

The Gran Prix has gone about 50 minutes the last two years, not including the introductions. It’ll now have two extra people, so breaking the hour mark is a definite possibility. As far as we know, this is airing on Marca like usual.

Scharly is strangely missing from the semimain. This is going to be a weird week with scheduling due to the 9v9 and Rockstar seems to be the low man on Cl4n side (and most likely to lose his hair in that cage match), so I’m not sure if it means anything. Could just be wanting Cavernario in there to work with Mistico and wanting Mistico in front of what should be a very big crowd.

Valiente working lightning matches in back to back week agianst a guy who is having a singles match on Tuesday is more usual strange CMLL booking.

Avispa Dorada is La Avispa from the Pacific Northwest, who’s been training with CMLL the last few months. I presume she will be a guest on Informa this week or next.

The opener is bizarre. CMLL has plenty of tecnicos who could step into a match if they needed a replacement, so the weird sides are probably about something else. It seems way too soon to start the build for the usual low-level apuesta match that usually happens during the Christmas season.
