a catalog of the 2004 AAA matches being streamed on Twitch

I wish Antonio Pena was alive so I could ask him “why scarecrows?”

AAA is currently streaming 2004 and 2005 AAA among other years on the stream. They didn’t put up a list of what matches exactly they’re streaming. That’s the kind of boring details I can handle, so I did. It’s the same thing I did with 2003. I’ll have the 2005 post up later this week.

I’m not doing direct links to Twitch file locations this time. I don’t know if many people actually have subscriptions, and the links only work for a few weeks by time I put them together. This should still work as guide to figuring out what’s coming up if you want

Ovett & X-Fly feud in IWRG, ordinary Puebla show tonight

1) Shadow Boy b Chicanito
2) Atomic Star & Death Metal b Arquero & Mexica
3) Aramis, Freelance, Relámpago b Hijo Del Mosco X-Fly, Lunatic Xtreme, Psycho Kid
Mosco and Lunatic didn’t get along, like their fathers X-Fly and Ovett.
4) Leo, Mike, Rafy b Demonio Infernal, Diablo Jr., Tortuga Teelo
Teelo said the Turtles wouldn’t keep winning. No sign of the new evil turtles this week.
5) Danny Casas, Hijo del Alebrije, Toscano b Eterno, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Pitbull
Eterno & Danny feuded
6) Cerebro Negro, El Hijo del Medico Asesino, X-Fly b Emperador Azteca, Imposible, Ovett
X-Fly used the ropes to beat Ovett after both bled a lot in the match.

Ovett vs X-Fly is the one IWRG feud which feels pretty safe in happening.

I went to the GALLI show last night. It was alright. I was hot and tired and wasn’t going to go, but then Aeroboy posted he was facing DJZ and I thought that was worth going. That was good, and there were good moments on the show. It was also very long. I’ll have video up on YouTube later on, but the lightning doesn’t look so on my video great. The good news is there appeared to be at least a half-dozen people filming the show or streaming it on Facebook at any time so you might be able to find a better version if you really like.

Today’s Puebla is an in-between chapter show with no obviously strong matches. The main even has Los Ingobernables against Atlantis, Carstico, and Euforia, where Euforia might be a fill-in for Diamante Azul and there’s no particular story to the match. There’s a little bit of a story to Angel de Oro, Niebla Roja, and Mistico taking on Cuatrero, Sanson and Mr. Niebla. The rudo got DQed last week, and maybe they’ll set up a title match next week.

Rey Samuary gets an opportunity in a fourth match, teaming with Rey Cometa & Stuka against Hechicero, Templario and an ill-fitted Mascara 2000. The Dinamita would have made more sense in the main event and Euforia would’ve been great in this match. The opening three matches are the usual grab bag of locals and non-pushed CMLL DF guys. Asturiano & Meyer take on King Rocker & Sombra Dibaolika in a match which might be good if they held it on a different day. Policeman is also booked. The show will air on CMLL’s YouTube channel at 9pm.

Titan’s match with Cody on ROH TV will air tonight on FITE.TV.

Remember last night when I wrote that AAA hadn’t officially announced the 07/29 Ecatepec card with Dr. Wagner on it so it could still change? They announced the 07/29 Ecatepec card today and Wagner is still on it. That’s probably not good. The next actual AAA TV is Friday night.

Tinieblas Jr., Bandido, Black Taurus, Blue Panther and many others are listed as working on August 18th in Brooklyn. That tweet says the crew is working the 17th and 19th, but there’s no mention of where they’d be running those shows. It’s notable Ultimo Ninja & Garza Jr. are listed on the poster on a show in August, though the poster also shows Black Panther as the big image in the center and doesn’t have him listed as working so who knows. The people promoting these shows seem to be the same people who promoted the June shows were people didn’t get paid. Good luck.

Ricky Marvin talks to Diario de Xalapa about returning to NOAH.

What happened:

Nothing really. Sansón pinned Niebla Roja in the main event, which might go somewhere but might not. Black Panther appears to have new music.

Thoughts:

Black Panther swing kick

The main event was a usually efficient NGD/Chavez match, maybe a touch less their Friday matches but not so much less that the Tuesday crowd minded. Angel de Oro & Niebla Roja are getting good at figured out how to work in whatever partner they had that week, and the NGD showed more of their offense than they sometimes do on Tuesday. Cameras missed the shot of Mije getting kicked, when seems to defeat the point of him being kicked.

The semi-main was about the usual from the people involved, which satisfied the crowd on this night. They did a bit of a misdirection on the finish, which would’ve meant more to a crowd familiar with the rules. CMLL should probably be doing something with the Panthers already other than endless meaningless trios matches. Black Panther has figured out how to get reactions from Tuesday crowds pretty reliable and should be trying to master something else.

around the post

The lightning match won’t go into the Audaz highlight reel, but it was a good job of getting around Universo’s limitations. This match seemed both an admission he’s not ready for a singles match with a flyer, but that he or Audaz or whoever put this match together was smart enough to keep it simple for him. Audaz did his usual amount of rolls and flips, but never really needed Universo to be involved in them. He was going around and into the rudo, but Universo wasn’t called upon to do much basing in this match. They didn’t do the armbar finish, they went with a middle rope huracanrana instead (and Universo’s bump was mistimed.) Universo’s offense was a kept to a few things he does well and he looked strong even in a defeat. This could’ve been a disaster and was not.

The segunda had gotten notice as one of the worst matches in CMLL this year, so I decided to pay attention to it instead of the probably OK tercera. It lived up to the hype. Eléctrico and Metálico got totally lost in the first fall, staring at each other like rookies for an awkward amount of time. Astral fell jumping into the ring in the third fall and it didn’t get any better for him. It felt like the rudos decided just to go home early instead of dealing with him for a moment longer. I don’t know how much of Astral’s performance was the bad fall because he was not much better earlier. Akuma got to do two dropkicks and not a whole lot more. His third fall spots with Eléctrico were slow looking, though still the better moments of this match.
