Fenix, Volador and LA Park versus Rush, Cibernetico and Terrible tonight, Atlantis & friends in ROH

If you hadn’t paid attention to Arena Mexico, today’s main event would look bizarre to you. LA Park teaming with Rey Fenix & Volador Jr. versus Cibernetico, Rush and Terrible looks like something you’d find deep in a YouTube comment thread about weird dream matches. I’m not sure it’s going to be a good match. Cibernetico & Terrible aren’t the most ideal opponents for Fenix & Volador, but it’s a lot of star power to create a different feel for the fourth week of this feud. The attendance keeps going up each day they run it, so maybe CMLL isn’t in a big hurry to get to the singles match, but I wouldn’t mind something more.

This is Cibernetico’s latest return to CMLL. On Informa, he mentioned he was previously coming to CMLL via ELITE and now is directly deal with CMLL. That seem to be said to make it clear Ciber isn’t planned to be part of whatever AAA is cooking up with ELITE. It’s still unclear how he’ll fit in CMLL; he showed more in his CMLL matches than he has elsehwere, but his style doesn’t match up with what CMLL has done in the past. Cibernetico would make more sense as a Rush opponent than partner, and Rush has shot down ideas that Cibernetico might be added to Los Ingobernables.

The lightning match is take two of the Caristico/Dragon Lee lightning match. It was in their match two months ago where Dragon Lee’s right leg went while running. That seemed to be a major ligament injury in the moment. Dragon Lee later said it was instead a muscle tear, and recovered in time to have a strong performance in NJPW’s Best of the Super Juniors. He returned to Arena Mexico this past Sunday, and this will be his first televised match. this remains an interesting combination of the biggest star CMLL had last decade with the man who may become the biggest star they have next decade (or may become a big star elsewhere.)

There is a possibility Penta disrupts this match. These are the exact two guys he’s had run-ins with over the last couple weeks. It would be completely unlike CMLL for someone to run-in on a match at all, much less someone who hasn’t appear for the company so far. It’s only a possibility because these are currently strange times, and you should not go into the match expecting it.

Hijo de LA Park, Niebla Roja and Valiente take on Ephesto, Luicferno and Mephsito in the fourth match. Puma & Tiger take their act to the third match, teaming with papa Felino against Guanatos Style (Titan, Esfinge, Triton) in what should be a good undercard match. The Panthers team with Pegasso against Kawato, Okumura and Universo. Shockercito & Stukita wrestle Mercurio & Pequeno Nitro in the opener.

Lucha Central also previews the show. CMLL will air it at 8:30 at Marca and Facebook, though neither of the links seem to be accessible right now. I’ll stream it on YouTube if I have to. It’ll be on CMLL’s YouTube later.

Atlantis, Stuka and Guerrero Maya will be in San Antonio tonight wrestling for Ring of Honor. They take on the SoCalUncensored team of Christopher Daniels, Scorpio Sky, Frankie Kazarian. That show should stream live on ROH’s Honor Club service starting at 7:30 (one hour before CMLL.)

Martinez Promotions is also running tonight in Fort Worth, with Mecha Wolf vs Drago vs Ultimo Ninja vs Laredo Kid as the main event. There’s also a Faby Apache vs Lacey Lane, which is the AAA women’s champion against The Crash’s women champion. The prohibition on AAA & The Crash people working on the same show has obviously been dropped.

Adam Brooks is off tomorrow’s The Crash show, saying he can’t travel or wrestle due to an injury.

Segunda Caida writes about more Arkangel matches.

LuchaWorld has the latest Lucha Report.

+LuchaTV has a new edition of Aqui La Lucha.

5th defense

Atlantis hasn’t had a streamed defense of this since 2015. I think we might be ok if this wasn’t streamed either.

This show feels low on the rudo side when Espanto Jr. is working the third match and Kawato is working the fourth.
